#Repost @airshipnotebooks with @repostapp ・・・ A gang of Super Mario drawings! Clockwise from the top left these were created by @1800getatom, @i.have.a.cool.name, @omarsalinasart and @haroartist. So this is a cool little story of artists inspiring other artists. Back on November 23rd, Adam Harris (@1800getatom) drew a great pen-and-ink illustration of Nintendo’s brave plumber superhero hurling a fireball… probably at some unsuspecting koopa trooper. Inspired by Adam’s piece, @i.have.a.cool.name inked up a similar Mario in action and colored it in with watercolors on December 11th or 12th (time zones on Instagram are confusing). It’s a bit crisper than Adam’s, and the method of depicting the action and motion of Mario’s throw is different, but they both look pretty awesome. Then, having seen @i.have.a.cool.name’s piece (or possibly Adam’s post about @i.have.a.cool.name’s piece), Harold George (@haroartist) continued the inspiration train on only a day later! Harold took the drawing digital, decked Mario out in his “Fire Mario” suit, and rendered that fireball into a glowing, smoldering ball of koopa pain! Finally, excited by the steam building on this inspiration engine (I’m assuming “excitement” is the proper term for it, anyway), Omar Salinas (@omarsalinasart) used the Procreate app on iOS to add his own rendition of Mario to the fray before the end of day on December 12th (again, I THINK I have these dates correct). So here we are two days later… I haven’t seen any other appear on my Instagram feed of “things you might be interested in,” so I figured I would challenge everyone to continue this inspiration train on… mainly because it sounds like a ton of fun to get a community inspired. Maybe Luigi or Wario want to enter the mix? Or what about Peach? We’ve seen ink and paint and digital, but how about some other artistic medium? Whatever you want to do. Just keep on creating! Use #MarioInspirationTrain to keep it going so everyone can follow along.
