Hi there! I've been a vegan for a few months, but I wanted to know what sources are good for omega 3's? Unfortunately I do have high cholesterol, and I want to try and get off my fish oil, but I'm worried about having it uncontrolled. :( Are there any vegan methods for lowering and keeping your cholesterol lowered? Thanks a lot!
Hey anon!!!!Good sources for omega 3′s are chia seeds, hemp seeds, nuts, leafy greens, winter squashes, beans, flax seeds! So many plant based options!!If you are vegan, and you are eating absolutely no animal products then don’t worry about your cholesterol (unless you have some sort of condition obviously). Our bodies create cholesterol naturally, because we do need it. But when we eat animal products, it is way too much and it causes things like heart attacks etc.The only thing that cholesterol occurs in is animal products and bi-products so as long as you are eating vegan than it should gradually go down and go to a healthy level. Always check with your doctor though!!!
