this got out of hand but

Bruce and Illya both end up outside some kinda government prison complex and Illya sees Bruce trying to break in and they’re both p much doing the exact same thing because they both know how to exploit some weakness in the security tech, but Illya keeps muttering in Russian to Gaby (via earpiece) about some asshole in a costume. Bruce is telling Alfred (also via earpiece) about how some sneaky Russian is trying to break into the same building and eventually Bruce goes, in Russian, you realize I can understand you, right

turns out they’re both there to help someone so they keep trying to one-up each other getting in. Bruce has the advantage of infrared vision and Alfred telling him the building layout in real time, but Illya probably already knows who’s in there and where to go because he’s well-prepared and Gaby’s keeping track of everything for him. gadget comparing is fun because Illya has standard UNCLE-issued tech and Bruce has WayneTech gear, which is all military grade and bat themed, which Illya thinks is kinda weird, but they keep up with each other anyway because they’re resourceful (and they’re both pretty impressed by each other at some point, either because of gadgets or resourcefulness/improvisation) but they won’t admit it

so somehow they end up parting ways (naturally Illya doesn’t mind bulldozing his way through anyone who’s trying to keep him away from Napoleon, and Bruce would prefer to stick to the shadows and sneak his way in and around trouble to get to Clark) and they end up in a similar area anyway. Napoleon is bored out of his mind in some cell and Clark is surrounded by some kinda kryptonite perimeter rendering him powerless but still alert, and once they get past the initial ‘what the fuck just happened’ they think it’s kind of amusing that Bruce and Illya arrive together, even though it wasn’t planned this way at all

so a Russian spy and a bat vigilante end up breaking a thief-turned-agent and an alien out of a holding compound and it ends up being the weirdest prison break/accidental friendship the world has ever seen
