It's a thing! It's natural to use the language you started a relationship in for the duration of that relationship. Although it's interesting that you talk with each other online in English... sorry, this is my like, linguistic area of interest so I'm super geeking out right now.
Wow, it’s so cool to see that there’s a lot of linguistics out here! The online-English connection comes from the fact that the internet is in English most of the time. We do speak other languages as well, mostly Finnish though when we use whatsapp and such but English is a prominent language even there. It’s easier to use English when you are talking about internet things instead of translating them. It does however bring a funny element of trying to conjugate English words with the Finnish grammatical rules.

Hope you’re okay!!! I tripped up the stairs last month and bruised my shinbone so hopefully no lasting damage for you!!!!!
oh yeah my left shin and ankle took a serious beating (i fell mostly on that leg and then just slid down like twelve hardwood steps) so LMAO i dont think anything is broken or stuff but it is. not much fun.

I know riiiight! I mean it’s a while since I’ve watched a show that made me embarrassed by the sounds that were escaping my mouth. Goddamn I looked like a fool flapping around and squealing, but it was so justified by the sheer amazingness of that show. Ugh I feel so complete now that I know where the “I see you villain!”-gif is from.
