It could also be a Chinese name. The thing about Romanizations is that you lose a lot of context and meaning since the names were originally written with characters. Often, names will seem to be the same when Romanized, but they’re completely different names in the original language.
That’s possible and if it is a Chinese name I retract everything I said about it--but I should also mention that not all of the elements in this fantasy world are Chinese. Ash largely uses European and particularly Celtic aesthetics (”Ash” is short for “Aisling” which is distinctly Irish) and while Huntress introduces Chinese-influenced elements to the world, it does so while still using some of the Celtic elements. There are names like Elowen, Maire, Shae, and in that context I didn’t read Kaede as one of the Chinese-influenced names, though it’s possible that I should have, but I’m not a linguist so I’m probably just showing my ignorance here.
