12) Who is your favourite character to write for? Why?
(Disclaimer: Aside from like three Parks and Recreation ficlets that are lost to my deleted LJ and an unfinished Baby-Sitters Club fic that’s – as far as I know – still hanging around fanfiction.net, I only write Check, Please fic. I assume that’s why most people are following me.)
That said, I do prefer writing from from Jack’s perspective. There are a few reasons for this. I will never, ever tire of putting Jack in situations where he knows he has big feelings for Bitty and isn’t quite sure what to do with them and goes from “Huh, there’s something about Bittle” to “I’m going to marry him” in the course of the story.
Also, I think it’s just easier for me to write from Jack’s perspective both because I relate to his character more and because he’s not the POV character in the source material, so I feel like there’s more room for interpretation and I’m not as worried about perfectly interpreting his voice. I have and do write from Bitty’s perspective, but it never feels as natural.
48) What’s your favourite trope to write?
Hmm … With Zimbits, I write a lot of aged up fic. I think it comes from a desire to explore the characters at different ages and see what changes and what stays the same.
Notably, in the two fandoms I previously mentioned I have an unfinished high school fic for Parks and Rec and an unfinished aged up fic for The Baby-Sitters Club. So it’s definitely a pattern with me. Is that a trope, though?
I really haven’t written a lot of popular, evergreen tropes for Check, Please. I’ve only written one soulmates AU and I’ve never done fake dating. I’ve written two time travel AUs and the only thing stopping me from writing another is having other things I want to write first.
Basically, I just write a lot of fluff.
