Preemptive theory: Lester killed Nicky, then Sofia had her boys kill Lester and planned on framing the Caputo family. The finger belongs to one of the sons

Theories: Okay, let's get down to brass tax. 1) Lester kills supposedly Nicky when he realizes that Nicky is trying to turn the Arconia into a casino (I'm not buying that Lester is an unprovoked killer, Nicky must have threatened his family or a resident/staff member). 2) Someone else kills Lester to keep him quiet about something that he knows. This could be any of the billionaires, as it hadn't yet been decided who would get the casino bid. However, they would have to hire/convince someone else to do the dirty work. I'm thinking the sons, since they knew about the finger. Unless I'm forgetting something, we still don't know whose finger is missing--it could be one of the sons, since they're so hard to keep track of.

Here's another detail: Lorraine had a child before she married Lester. Who did she have a child with? I think there's a decent chance it could have been Nicky (I'm following the rule that unrevealed characters must be a character we've already met). Along the same vein, Lester's step-child (a son, iirc) must also be someone we've met before. The now-grown kid might be a resident of the Arconia, though probably not because Lorraine and Lester had been saving and planned on retiring AT the Arconia, so I doubt they already had a child living in the Arconia who wouldn't simply let them move in with him. Lorraine needs to reveal more of her backstory, hopefully we get that in the season finale.

Why was someone's finger cut off? In episode 8, we see Camilla flinch at the memory of someone's finger getting chopped off at the casino. It could be an "initiation" type of situation, but Camilla looked too freaked out--it must have been a punishment. Perhaps Nicky had a finger cut off from the man Sofia was having an affair with in retribution for getting his "hands" on he shouldn't have? It could also be a punishment for stealing money, but I don't think Camilla would have cared as much if it was some random dealer with sticky fingers missing a digit.

Final Questions: So right now the operative questions are: Who did Lorraine have her first child with? Who did her child grow up to be? Who did Sofia have an affair with? Who is missing a finger? Additionally, the back half of the season has shows us that this finger is worth more than just determining who gets to hold the contract for the casino. What, exactly, does this finger represent and why does it have so much power? Are we EVER going to get breadcrumbs about who the Caputo family is?
