If I were to design something that required natural input for walking I'm not sure it would be realistic to work under the assumption that i would b e able to acquire an omnidirectional treadmill like the Virtuix Omni but I think using a dance mat as demonstrated in this video is a suitable alternative to emulate the type of natural motion that would be achieved with an Omni-treadmill.
