favorite thing about them :

His charisma I guess ? gkjg there’s something about him that screams natural strength and elegance and beauty. But he’s also a dork, which makes him well balanced. If he was a character that only appeard dark and angry and sad 100% of the time because of his past, I don’t think I would have loved him as much ? But instead, he’s soft and laughing around his friends, he makes jokes, he sasses around. There’s too many things I love about Kurapika, but I guess that, yeah, my favorite thing about him is his personality. Baby him was curious about the world and easily excited, he didn’t lose this part of him completely (at least… not yet ;;;

least favorite thing about them :

I understand that revenge is important to him, but he’s literally killing himself over it and just… Kurapika could you NOT. One thing Im especially afraid of, is that he’s going to lose his kind nature because of this. I genuinely hope this won’t happen, because if it does, if he becomes what he used to hate the most, I’ll be heartbroken. I just want him to be at peace with himself and his past, but it’s so unlikely and sighs It’s hard to see him continuing on this path, it physically hurts. A lot.

nOTP : none really. Can’t say I like K/urokura because it doesnt make sense to me, it implies OOCness, and nothing good can come of such a ship while the only thing I want is for Kurapika to be happy, but it’s not a “NOTP” either. I don’t really have NOTPs. I either ship or I don’t lol

random headcanon :

I always loved the “switch to his mother tongue under some circumstances” headcanon. It’s nice. I wished it was a canon thing and that Kurapika would speak Kurtish from time to time. Not often, because when he does, it slips accidentaly, involuntarily (at least that’s what I like to imagine).

It’s much more negative, but… I also hc that he’s actually forgetting the language… Like when you don’t practice, you don’t forget everything, but you forget anyway… It’s a much more negative hc, and Im sorry about it, but that’s my hc anyway ;;

Completely different headcanon, but : I also love how… “to the point” he is.  Like, he doesn’t beat around the bush, he says things so “matter of factly”, and I have this hc that he’s like that when it comes to love as well. He’s not shy about it, and he doesn”t quite understands that for most people it’s… pretty much a whole ritual of subtext and implying things, or that people can be shy and/or socially awkward about it, which makes him confused or missing the “read between the lines” parts. He’s got a very rational approach about things and love is no exception. (doesn’t mean he can’t and/or doesn’t like to flirt. He flirts. Oh he does.)

unpopular opinion :

After YorkShin Arc, I see so many people who really do seem to believe Kurapika has become so much colder and heartless, torturing, manipulating and killing just so he can get the eyes back… Kurapika does say that he lost many parts of him along the way, true, but I don’t think that means he’s become a cold “monster”.

I also think he’s been away from loved ones for too long, so such things as “joy”, “laughing” , “smiling”, “being genuine around others”, “being reminded he’s not as bad as he might start think he is because he’s around fucked up people so much” have possibliy left his life, and he probably forgot about what it feels like…

When I see him, even in the current arc, I still find him soft and kind hearted, his smiles are genuine. Kurapika doesn’t like to hurt others and he doesn’t like to kill and I still believe it’s true. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but it’s what I believe anyway ;;

Another opinion (now I don’t quite know if it’s unpopular or not, and it’s regarding Leopika) but I often see, in fanfics, Kurapika being very cold to Leorio after YorkShin, or them brawling a lot, but from what I remember in the manga (maybe selective memory idk =“D), Kurapika always, always softens around Leorio. He doesn’t try to pick a fight, he doesn’t try to say hurtful things. Yes he did isolate himself from his friends, for tons of different valid reasons, but that doesn’t mean he sunddenly is an asshole to them, and especially not to Leorio.

A little last unpopular one and then I stop flhkj But I don’t believe Kurapika has a death wish. I think deep down he wants to live, or he wants a reason to, but it’s buried deep under pain and rage, yet to be done grieving, and some duties he put onto himself that were too heavy for his shoulders.

3) Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?

Yep, I’ve unfollowed and blocked before. Mostly when people ship my NoTPs, but also when people are just unnecessarily mean. Makes my dash much less stressful.

7) Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?

Oh, definitely. I used to ship HitsuHina in the Bleach fandom when I was younger, but as I got older I started headcanoning it as more of a familial relationship than a romantic one, and now it’s a NoTP for me.

I haven’t been in HxH long enough to see if my tastes will change, but I’m a multishipper anyway, so my guess is probably not.

9) Most disliked character(s)? Why?

OH. Netero and Knov from HxH, Endeavor from BnHA, and Mayuri from Bleach. 

Netero and Knov because they’re both manipulative and make me all kinds of mad about how they let the CA arc happen, Endeavor because he’s a shit father, and Mayuri just weirds me out. I don’t get him at all XD

10) Most disliked arc? Why?

HxH - honestly, my least favorite is the current manga arc on the Black Whale/death boat, but’s that pretty mush just because I find it really hard to follow. Animated-wise, I think my least favorite HxH arc is probably the Yorknew arc, because that was when the dark, gritty themes of HxH really came out a smacked me in the face like “hahaha you thought this was going to be a typical shonen NOW SUFFER.” (I still really liked the Yorknew arc though.)

Bleach - Fullbring Arc. The characters were kinda cool, the animation was okay, but I really didn’t get the tonal shift, or why the manga/anime had to continue. I mean, I appreciate the extra content, but I feel like the previous arc really could have been a great finale.

11) Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

HxH - Hmmm. I mean, I’d say the adulttrio because they’re all great villains, but they’re pretty popular villains, so I’m not sure? Maybe Palm? I don’t really like her character and what she does, but I feel really bad about how Togashi treats a mentally ill woman and makes her a predator, as if that wasn’t a terrible stereotype. Like, no, Togashi, please no.

Bleach - Well, I really like Hitsugaya, and it seems like half the fandom hates him, so I’ll go with him. He’s my favorite, mostly because I really feel for him always having to babysit some of the adult characters in Bleach despite being one of the youngest(? ish? he’s a dead ghost and Kubo is hella inconsistent with ages) characters.

22) Popular character you hate?

HxH - UHHHHH. It’s not really hate, but Kurapika frustrates me a LOT. Like BOI. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF YOUR FRIENDS LOVE YOU. I don’t really think I hate any of the popular HxH characters, to be honest. I just get frustrated by them XD.

Bleach - I’m actually not too much a fan of Grimmjow, though I have friends who like him a lot and have by-extension made me grudgingly think he’s okay.

friendship them with:  Leorio, Gon, Killua, Senritsu and I want to add Bill because lately, I mean, in the current arc, Bill and Prince Wobble seem to be the only source of… genuine sincerity and innocence around Kurapika, and I think it helps him carry on, and it’s a source of comfort and trust as well. (personal opinion though kgjh) I mean, I know Leorio is on the boat too, but considering there is zero communication possible between the top deck and the rest of the boat…

There is also a lovely bond between Prince Wobble and Kurapika but that doesn’t count as “friendship”, which is why I didn’t put her on the list ;;;

I think Kurapika’s friends are all the people he can give his trust and speak honestly, openly with, and I think the list above reunite these people. If I forgot someone Im sorry aah

general opinions: He’s such an interesting character tbh. I really love that he can be srong and terrifying and smart but at the same time, he’s still so young, and so lost and he just wants to do what’s good and what’s right, not just for him.

He’s a living paradox, he can be very careful but also incredibly reckless, he’s selfish but he’s selfess, he’s strong but he’s weak, it makes him a deeper character than it looks. Really, he’s fascinating.

Also because despite everything, Kurapika truly is kind hearted, he didn’t lose his “humanity” (at least… not yet…), but I also “love” (by love I mean “I find it interesting, objectively, but it’s super painful to watch, subjectively) the evolution of this character. Love it but hate it really, because dear lord, I really don’t know what’s gonna be the conclusion regarding him… Not just the conclusion of the current arc, just… the conclusion regarding Kurapika in general. If it’s gonna end terribly wrong or if he can still be saved and if so, how ?

I genuinelly just want him to be at peace with himself, with his past, for him to grieve, to be showered with love, to realize that he has a home and a new family, and I just want for him to start anew and be sincerely happy again. That’s all I wish for him. And if that doesn’t happen… I think Im gonna cry a lot. Because that’s the very least he deserves. The very least.

friendship them with:  Cloud, Aerith, Sephiroth… Probably many others because this guy is just too friendly for is own good =‘) I would have added Tifa but they had too little interactions sadly… Pretty sure they would have been good friends if well, he didn’t die. That’s a little hindrance in the building of a relationship khjg

But yeah, I can imagine them being good friends in other circomstances… Sharing stories about Cloud behind his back and Cloud looking at them with annoyance because that’s embarrasing. lol. ok, well, wishful thinking =‘)

general opinions: A sweetheart. He’s just… he’s such an angel. I can’t even find him any flaws, he’s “Mister Perfect” and not even in annoying way. OKay, maybe he’s a bit cocky, but that adds to what makes him so charming.

Again an interesting character, even though that’s… that’s only my very personal way of seeing him, it’s not even canon, it’s just me who wanted to give him more… I don’t know how to say, to add something more to his character ? I don’t know but when I think of Zack, I think of a ball of energy and optimism, he’s always trying to be strong for everyone around him, but I wanted him to be broken inside, (yeah, Im a horrible person) because of what Shin-Ra did to him, because I believe at some point he started to question if he was “on the good side”, if he was just a tool for the army...

I dont want to go in the whole “monster” thing they came up with for Crisis Core’s plot, because I have conflicted feelings about Crisis Core, but definitely, Jenova Cells and mako injections mess with your body and you don’t feel totally human anymore, I think he was suffering of this, but silently, he was keeping it for himself and that’s the tragedy of this character… He needed help as much as he helped the others around him.

Again, a sincerely good hearted character who deserved better. My only consolation is that he died a free man, fighting against the ones who once used him, and even though he paid the price of his life, it must have been a psychological liberation at least ;;; or so I hope, for him.

that’s kind of a funny thought honestly? Local Shrine Maiden Literally Transforms Into A Glowing Orb During Battle. mima’s dramatic transformations have NOTHING on that.
