What is this ship called? Craiho? Hucraig? Hubro? Buff bros?? I hope you’ll enjoy this short ficlet! 💕💕💕
A day offwas… the term rarity didn’t evenbegin to cover it. Let’s be honest: Craig and days off, no obligations, nopreparations, no training quotas to meet, didn’t go together. Even whenSmashley had the girls, work ate all of Craig’s time. When there was nothing hehad to get done for the business, then there was the gym, with workout reps, set numbers, squats and percentages and the tiny voice in the back of his head…Relaxation time, that might as well have been a foreign word in a language heused to speak, but didn’t anymore.
Hugo Vega,he learnt, was not quite as bad ashim, but not good, either.
So for thetwo of them to find themselves with a whole evening (and the morning after) offree time was so strange, Craig kept on checking the area for hidden cameras.
But therewere none, only the obvious ones placed strategically around the ring.
See, thatwas the second weird thing about the whole situation: He was at a wrestling game with Hugo Vega. And unless he completely misread the signs, then thiswas a date. Another thing Craig had not done in a very, very long time.
Wrestlinghad never been Craig’s sport of choice, but he could appreciate the dedication, sportsmanship and the elements of drama nonetheless. Hugo’s raw and completelyunfiltered excitement was a nice bonus.
Who was heeven kidding. He had happily, and without hesitation, paid for the two(overpriced) tickets to see Hugo’s favourite wrestler in the last and mostimportant match of the season, just to get to see the teacher’s eyes light uplike a Christmas tree in that way that made butterflies flutter around Craig’sstomach.
He even atea hot dog. Admittedly, a good one, but a greasy, unhealthy hot dognevertheless.
“Earth toCraig.” Craig’s eyes immediately focused on Hugo’s face. “You looked prettylost in thought. We’re supposed to relax here, Craig.”
“Sorry, bro, I was just…” Craig rubbed the back of his head and laughed nervously. “Youknow, thinking. You excited about the second round?”
“Of course! At the moment it might seem like The Eastern Dragon is going to lose, but I’m confidenthe’ll turn it around no problem!”
Craiggrinned and gave a thumbs up. “We’ll just have to cheer him on harder, then he’sdefinitely going to win!” Hugo grinned back and Craig’s heart jumped in hischest at the sight. He felt his cheeks heat up and averted his gaze, just intime to see the combatants return to the ring. The Eastern Dragon looked worseoff than his opponent, but Craig trusted Hugo’s knowledge. Besides, he reallywanted to see Hugo’s favourite win.
The secondhalf of the match began. It took less than five minutes for Hugo to leap out ofhis seat, cheering on so loudly, Craig’s ears were ringing. He loved everysecond of it. Emotions ran so high in the audience, it was contagious. SoonCraig found himself standing next to Hugo, shouting at the top of his lungs.Sometime between “Kick his ass, Dragon!” and “Come on, don’t give up! You haven’tshown us the best of you yet!”, Hugo had taken Craig’s hand in his and he washolding on tight.
“Just likethat!” Hugo shouted after a particularly impressive move. Craig howled, pumpinghis fist in the air. The Dragon had his opponent pinned, but before the refereereached the number ‘ten’, the other wrestler broke free.
“EasternDragon!”
“You can dothis!”
Momentslater, The Eastern Dragon had his opponent pinned again, holding him firmly ina headlock. The referee started counting down, his shouts nearly drowned out bythe cheering of the audience.
“EasternDragon!”
“Nine—“
“EasternDragon!”
“Seven—“
“EasternDragon!”
“Five! Four! Three!“
Craiglooked over at Hugo. He seemed so happy, so passionate, it made him glow fromwithin. Before he really knew what he was doing, Craig was already leaningover, using his free hand to cup Hugo’s cheek and turn his head. Hugo frownedin confusion, just for a moment, but then his expression softened and a blushcrept up to his cheeks. Craig didn’t give himself the chance to chicken out; heleant forward, his eyes closing of their own accord.
“One—“
Much to hissurprise, he met Hugo’s lips seconds before he should have, given the distance.
Onlybelatedly he realised that Hugo must have leaned forward too.
“It’s over! The Eastern Dragon has won thetitle! The Eastern Dragon won!”
They drewapart over the screams of the other fans as they celebrated their favourite’svictory. Craig looked into Hugo’s eyes and smiled. Hugo smiled back at him andleant in for a second kiss.
