Did you know that more than 350 eye diseases and disorders are hereditary? And that Amblyopia - aka a lazy eye - is more common in twins?
That being said, one of my favorite headcanons regarding the first Carter twins is that both William and Jack had eye problems, nearly identical ones. However, due to the poverty they were living in as children, their parents could only afford one pair of glasses, which was given to the favored twin, Jack. But since he had noticed that his brothers eye sight was getting worse with each and every day, while his own was only improving, he decided to give William the glasses he was wearing.
They weren’t a perfect match, but they still improved his eyesight majorly. William took very gentle care of his glasses… too bad they got ruined after the train crash.
