I know I'm late to the party, but I just #read @tokemakinwa's #OnBecoming. I really wasn't expecting much. I thought it was a book that sold because she was popular, and it was controversial. There were also so bad reviews I read that made me question the good ones. And I knew nothing of the history or circumstances that inspired the book. But I applaud the woman! Seriously! And it was very well written. There's really a story in all of us, no matter how bad our past is. We just have to be bold enough to tell it. I know many people will be inspired and blessed by her story. The first screenshot shows the part of the book that resonated with me most!!! Even two or three pages after that. It's the chapter on faith, and this quote "I've learnt that even when we go left, His love is there to guide us aright" is the ABSOLUTE TRUTH! And it really put a lot into perspective in her book. Before then, I struggled whenever she spoke of her faith, cos I didn't see it. But this page revealed that she knew she hadn't been on the right path, but was now responding to God's call. The second screenshot contains advice that I feel a need to challenge. She said "two people must part ways when happiness is no longer served on the table called marriage". My problem is really with the words "must" and "happiness". In light of all she wrote, I believe this is more of an editorial oversight and not really the message she is passing across. Well, I would normally spotlight it, but... Who knows, I still might, though I don't really know what more needs to be said. Good read, Toke. And I pray you will continue to abide in Christ and not be moved by the opinions of men. #BookReview #UfuomaeeReviews #iRead #GoodReads #Marriage #WomenEmpowerment
