Could you imagine living in the same medieval peasant village as Joan of Arc just before she did her whole thing, and you have her parents present you to her for marriage, and then she not only says "No", she later then goes off to *fight the English Army*? Because apparently there was a guy her parents wanted her to get engaged with before she decided on her mission, quest, thing.
I am *not* suggesting her decision to dress as a man and head off to meet the king and lead his armies to drive out the invader as God wills it was just to escape a boy. What he was like as a person probably had nothing to do with it. What I'm suggesting is that that's what *that boy* must've thought happened. And my heart aches for him.
