          ruby’s not good with a bow– never really has been. when it comes to walkers she usually takes them out with her knife, and louis and aasim do most of the hunting these days… but she knows that she needs to get better at defending herself. that’s the whole reason why she’s been trying to improve with a bow and arrow. she’s a good shot with a gun, but a arrows? not so much.

          still, she appreciates the pat on her shoulder, any encouraging words thrown her way, and she feels a grateful smile pull at her lips. “ thanks… i know i can do this. i just gotta…keep on practicin’. ”

So this is what Overwatch has come to.

She hasn’t seen them since initial shut down, the trial, her return to Zurich and then during the sudden peak of the viral outbreak rushing back again. How they ended up here or what remained of them once the doctor left to pursue her own ideals, perhaps it was not entirely coincidence after all. They were all carriers awaiting a grueling transformation in the end. Not even the brilliance of science and twice the advancements of technology could change that. She keeps her head held high, breath momentarily caught between the man addressing her and mein gott - she should not have looked.

Even the stained and nearly shredded through that uniform could not be mistaken. Blackwatch, Blackwatch was here too.  A shake of her head forces waves of once tied blond messily loose, eyes almost shimmering in the dark. They must have come here as a group but there were no signs of the others just yet, a realization that hung just as heavy in her heart as all others.

“I’m sorry, you are right. These people were… well, are my friends. How about we make a deal? Help me help you. I can keep your people alive, study the virus and attempt to reverse it. Is that enough reason to trust me?”

Careful, now.. a good doctor never tries to wake her patients even during the quickest procedure of applying gauze and stitching the simplest wound. Thankfully what brought him so swiftly under her ever watchful wing wasn’t too severe. Most days they’re brought in looking something so much more downtrodden. Lucky for him the wound was mainly surface. The shock, of course, waking up somewhere unfamiliar with the rushing scent of medical aid was something even Mercy couldn’t quite soften despite having stood over them and not once leaving their side.

Not in a group this time, either.

Combed just out of the edge of a nearby forest not even an hour before the man situated on a mobile bed seems to wake somewhere between confusion and fear just as she was applying the finishing touches on his IV. With a serene touch she guides him back down, peaceful blue of her gaze searching for his own with tinted worry and a hint of a smile overlaying the steady thrum of machinery safeguarding his life just behind them.

“No, no. Please try not to make any sudden movements. It appears you’ve been in an accident. Although you’re nearly well enough! With just a little more rest you should be good as new. Mein name ist Angela Ziegler, what is yours~?”

Why people had ever been keen on essentially chucking vegetables in a blender and pretending it was anything but atrocious was beyond him. "Captain Jack Harkness.
