Eddie squeaked at first, trying to keep himself standing, but Richie’s arms kept him keeping his footing and soon he was landing into his lap with a giggling laugh. “Let—let me go, Richie,” Though his fighting hands at trying to break free don’t really suggest he actually wants to be let go. It’s all for show and it’s always been for show since Richie first took him beneath his arm and gave him a nookie.

      “That might get awkward.” He teases, tucking himself further into the circle of Richie’s arms. He doesn’t want to let go either, but he’s going to have to eventually. They both know it. Bowing his head down to press against his best friend’s chest he huffs out a small sigh. “Mom is going to get mad if I don’t leave soon...” He says softly, hands reflexively clinging tighter to the back of Richie’s shirt at the thought. He feels safe here at Richie’s house. This bed is the only place he can sleep without nightmares, and the idea of having to go back home to his mother makes all his insides twist uncomfortably. 

     He pulls back to glance up, studying Richie’s face. Not for the first time he wonders what it’d be like to kiss him, and he has to brush the thought away before it starts to hurt. Instead his face scrunches up in mock annoyance, “Plus, maybe I’ll finally get a chance to sleep without listening to your fucking chainsaw snores the whole night.” Something to deflect his feelings, the both know he doesn’t mind the snoring, that it’s the silence of his own room that bothers him more than anything else.

What? He was barely conscious, but the constant beeping of a heart monitor, and the lights above him let him know he was in the hospital. He heard the voice, and he knew it was Richie, instantly, but it felt like it would take a lot of effort for him to look over. Still, he forced himself to, brown eyes not looking as lively as they had only days before, back in Derry, but he was alive.

“Where are we?” he asked, voice barely making it above a whisper. He felt drunk, and extremely tired. It didn’t make for a good combination, but it was probably the pain killers.

Eddie’s big mistake that night was the red wine. The Losers has defeated the clown, and all of them came out intact. It was against huge odds, but here they were, having a great time, like the Jade — they didn’t go back there since they were sure their bit of hysteria near the end wouldn’t have been very welcomed.

There was lots of booze going around, and although Eddie didn’t drink much, they were celebrating. He couldn’t deny Beverly when she demanded some red wine, more and more bottles coming to the table. Red wine made him a flirty (slutty) drunk, and the sight was probably ridiculous. Who cares? They earned this.

Stumbling back to the Town House had been loud and ridiculous, and maybe ten minutes after everyone had settled into their rooms (Ben and Bev were now in one), Eddie was knocking on Richie’s door. He was thirty-nine, months away from forty, and here he was, like a teenager, having swiped a bottle from the downstairs bar after coming back from a lone walk.
