Neil Finn - The Climber
This is the sad real life back story to the song😞
Neil Finn is, if you ask me, one of the best singer-songwriters in the world and his entire career continues to show that fact. Check his solo records, such as One Nil, to hear what I mean. All of his tunes present us with a certain honesty that reminds of Paul McCartney. Moreover, he does have McCartney's eclecticism, though I fear that quality tends to get overlooked in both of their opuses. True, Finn's syncretism received more acknowledgements than that of Macca, but I still think Finn remains underappreciated as a musician. The song in the link, for instance, doesn't feel like a work of someone who already achieved that much. He could be coasting on his previous triumphs, yet he keeps looking into the uncharted sonic territories.
