I started building in Greymont Bay again :) These houses are (very loosley) based on the houses on Wisteria Lane from Desperate Housewives^^ (again, very loosely :D) I think the style suits the world very well :)
What do you think about it?

Although I will probably release my new world as an empty version, this is the style I intend for the downtown area :) It’s similiar to the styles of my previous worlds but I’m trying to tone down the colorfulness a little to make it more authentic and distinct :)
?
Finally continued working on my world today :) What do you think about it?
Here’s what the road connections in the gated community look like connected to an actual house (so the roads don’t end in the middle of nowhere^^)
Please note that this house is not included in the world - if you are interested, I will upload it seperately :)
?
I added a little detail to the lots in the gated community because it bothered me that they couldn’t have “proper” driveways. I think this adds more authenticity :) Unfortunately, I can’t add this to every lot in the area because the crosswalk texture I added (which was a pain in the a**, btw^^) always has to be on both sides of the road (I made the crosswalk texture the sidewalk of the road) and sometimes there is no lot on the other side of the road, so you would just have a pointless crosswalk on the road which would be even more illogical. So, even though I’d like it better if it was uniform, I guess there’s no way to avoid this - or is there?
So, I finally figured out how you recolor objects in CAW (I can’t believe I never realized how easy it is^^) and I recolored most world objects in my project :)
Also, I recently found out how you change the time of day in CAW^^
How do you like it?
Just a little déco tip
I don’t know whether this idea came up before - at least I haven’t seen it before^^ - but I just found a nice trick to fake dormer windows (like the one from TS4) that are shiftable in height.
You’ll need to download armiel’s DIY paintings and the siding patterns by plasticbox (or any other comparable components^^ - these are just the ones I used)
Once you installed them, it’s pretty simple - just put the siding pattern on the paintings, recolor them to your likings and put them wherever you want them :) (i.e. dormers, ...)
You can shift their height, place them between tiles and for extra authenticity, you can place them on the other side of the wall as well (to make it look like an actual window with shutters^^)
I hope you find this helpful and enjoy building with this ‘trick’ in mind :)
I realised it’s been ages since I posted the last progress picture, so here you go :) Sorry for the crappy image - the fog makes it hard to take decent pictures^^
On another note, I settled for the premade lighthouse after all because the lighthouse effect wouldn’t work properly on a custom lighthouse (on a lot). But then again, I added the wooden bridge to make it look more interesting and this is the first working lighthouse in any of my worlds^^
