I’ve learned so much about my future body within hours of the op-ed that my #onee-samaaa released. Thanks to the extensive discussion made by commenters worldwide. I’m both shocked and glad actually. Shocked, that there’s like 34-35 symptoms and side-effects of menopause but glad that it’s universal — all the women in the world are going through this (except those who are under forced menopause like my poor onee-samaaa). Which then makes me mad because like a commenter suggested, “if men were going through this we’d have found a cure for the many side effects of menopause”.
YEAH definitely time for someone to start paying greater attention to women’s health issues. Or start being charitable by funding/green lighting researches on them.
And for people to stop fucking sexualizing women and imposing standards on women if you don’t have the decency to look into the million health issues women have to deal with everyday.
Alsoooo women are heroic. That’s all I’ve got to say. Period, cramps, pregnancy, menopause, susceptibility to breast/ovarian cancer (which seems to be more common than I thought). I personally have to deal with bad cramps on a monthly basis - often hindering my ability to function normally. But nevetheless, I’m proud to be a woman. #realpower
