“… Touche.” He forces back a grin, keeping a straight face. “Now there’s white chocolate on your lips.”
“The whitest, honestly.”

“Your face needs to stop, man.”
Shop
Shop — I’ll write a drabble of my character taking yours shopping.
“I won’t hear another word. I’m replacing all of it.”
Happy surely said something after she quit speaking, but Natasha had spotted a shirt she liked and wandered off, ignoring the protests coming from her boyfriend. To add to her ‘ignoring any argument’, she started humming to herself.
Natasha had been keeping track of all the clothing of Happy’s that she’d destroyed during their time together, unbeknownst to him. The last straw of wanting to replace all of it in one fell swoop happened when she looked up how expensive a certain tie she’d torn in two was. Their was a down side to how rough they happened to get, and Happy’s clothing happened to be paying the biggest price.
“Natasha,” a hand slid around her hip to rest on her stomach, tugging her in close to his chest, “You do not need to pay for a whole new wardrobe for me. I can afford it myself, and I like it when you tear my clothing. It’s... hot.” She dropped her head back to look up at him, giving Happy the right angle to plant a kiss on her forehead. “This is completely unnecessary.”
“I don’t know if you realize this or not, but normal couples buy things for each other. You can repay the favor with something I might like, okay? Now hush. My tailor needs your measurements so she can start in on replacements.”
The rest of the appointment went smoothly and quietly, with Happy constantly glancing at Natasha. She also pushed him out of the store when it came time to pay the bill, knowing full well he’d have thrown a fit about how much the clothing was going to cost. When she exited the store front, Natasha patted Happy’s chest, “Look at it this way, my love. I’ll just be tearing this off you as well. Call it a future investment, hm?”
Happy leaned down to kiss her gently, brushing a hand though her hair, “How about I show you what I want to repay you with? Come on.” The hand in her hair made its way down her back to rest on her hip and tug her further into the shopping center. Mid way through their walk, Happy slid a hand over Natasha’s eyes, steering here in a direction she had to pretend not to know about. When his hands slid off her face, Natasha couldn’t help but grin.
“A sex shop? Really, Hogan?” her tone read as disgruntled and angry, but her face was a full on grin. “I suppose I could find something. But you have to help me pick it out.”
Happy laughed the deep laugh that Natasha loved, and the pair made their way into the shop.
Enamor me.
There’s actually only very few people around which Rhodes relaxes; very few indeed. Tony, funny enough, is one of them. Pepper? Certainly. And Happy? Yes, definitely. They’ve quite fittingly begun to form a little family, the four of them. Morph into a make-shift family perhaps all of them need.
It begins quite accidentally; the wooing process. It starts with bringing Chinese back to the tower so many times that he, without meaning to, begins to memorize Happy’s favorite foods. Drinks and desserts. It begins with a jokingly brought box of chocolates, then a rose - and it escalates from there.
And somewhere in the middle of it, God, he realizes he’s not joking. Along the months - has it been years? - that they’ve known each other, exchanged gifts and smiles and laughs, tucked Tony in and tried and save him from his stunts and comforted Pepper through all of his crap, he realizes - he’s not joking. He’s dead serious. But there’s a fragile balance here; they’re good friends. What they got works. It’s innocent - it’s them caring about Tony more than they care about themselves. It’s shoulder-bumps when they cook or watch television, it’s messing Happy’s hair up as a prank, it’s spilling cola on Rhodey’s shirt so he can’t go to work and has to take a break and shower first, it’s nervous graces of their hands over the goddamn popcorn bowl.
It’s so ridiculously innocent they might as well be twelve - and much as Rhodey loves things like this, he fears it’s not going to be enough. Not forever. But if he’s the one to break the balance, if Happy tells him no...
Ah, Hell.
He doesn’t wanna be the reason this family falls apart.
His hands are shaking as he comes in one night; sets down another bag of take-away, rubs his neck. They’ve actually convinced to get Tony to take a break; to have him and Pepper join them for a movie. There’s been jokes made about a double date. Heh. Right.
“Hey, listen,” He begins as they take out the boxes of food; glasses and forks are also gathered. “After we’re done here, you, uh... You wanna get a drink?” Wow, he can’t even look Happy in the eye. Jesus. “Or, uh. Lunch tomorrow.”
Shit. Stop dancing around it.
“You wanna go out sometime? Actually go out.”
And this time he’s staring Happy dead in the eye. And, of course, this time Pepper comes waltzing in the door. Hurries them up, helps them carry the food - and he doesn’t get his answer. Yet. “Think about it,” He mutters quiet enough for only Happy to hear as they move to the couch.
Ah, shit. Shit. Thank God it’s dark, because he’s fairly certain he’s beet red an shaking right about now.

“---Hey. Anyone feed you lately?”
onehappyhogan:
“I totally don’t.”
“I can stop if it’s bothering you.”
