Congratulations!!! I wish you continued success!! (Initially I thought you meant $10k in one month. It took me a sec to reconcile that!)
Thank you! Haha, that would be insane! I changed the wording to clarify.
Hey Christine! I hope you're really enjoying your NY Trip :). Do you know anything about snorting and if it impacts vocal health at all? I'm playing a pig in a play I'm in right now and I've been snorting a lot, and though it hasn't hurt or anything, it's definitely an odd sensation. Thanks!
I don’t think it would have any impact on your vocal health! It doesn’t seem to impact your laryngeal position, nor does it seem to tighten your throat!
Hi Christine! I've quickly discovered this semester that I'm going to be singing a LOT every week - I'm in two choirs, voice lessons, and a show right now, and so some days I'll be singing for 6+ hours by the end of the day. Do you have any tips for switching between choir/solo singing and making sure I can stay healthy? Thank you so much!!
Staying very hydrated and ensuring that you give yourself ample time to warm up your voice if you feel you need that to sing well is important. Tension is going to be the primary enemy, particularly since you’ll be doing choir singing along with your solo singing. I loved choir, but it’s notorious for making you manipulate your voice to blend with others--understandably so, but it can really add a lot of strain to your voice. So after choir, or even throughout, make sure you’re allowing yourself to relax your throat back down! And just trust your gut day to day--if you’re feeling particularly fatigued, see if you can take it easy. I personally don’t like “marking it” when I sing, because I feel that I sing healthier at full voice, and if I just half-sing, I often utilize bad habits. But fatigue is just going to stack and mount, so make sure you are trying to take care of yourself before it gets out of control and you lose your voice!
Dear Future Husband... #16
I was looking at old pics and I remembered a boy who I no longer spoke for a long time . I had a good relationship with him when I was younger but I lost contact with him. I was looking for his facebook to send a text when i found out that he passed away about two months.
I am so chocked... He was so incredible! Now he can rest. I feel honored to have had him as a friend. He will always be in my mind and in my heart.
Rest In Peace, Henrique Cabral
PS: I feel I have to take advantage of every second with you. So that nothing unsaid is left . love you
Hi there :) do you have any advice for a pianist who wants to get better at sightreading for auditions and such? I've accompanied a lot of gigs before and played a few shows, but I still have trouble picking up music quickly and solidly enough to feel confident enough to play for auditions. I have a strong music theory background, if that helps
I would say try to sight read as much as you can on your own. My boyfriend said, grab a hymnal and just flip through pages. It’s a skill that just takes time and constant practice, and over time sight reading will become more second nature. Perhaps make a goal for yourself--sight read a hymn a day, or a song a day. Try sight reading songs you know and songs you don’t know--your ear will help you with the songs you know, which will help develop it, but you also want to get used to sight reading things you’ve never heard. You will start to pick up on patterns and feels as you continue on! Best of luck!
