Why does MAGA want Trump to pardon this ‘sex cult’ leader?

The MAGA movement is reportedly calling on President Donald Trump to pardon a former “sex cult” leader.  Yes, really. The controversy and legal case involving Nicole Daedone, former CEO and founder of OneTaste, was the subject of the recent Netflix documentary, “Orgasm Inc.”

Dershowitz represented Trump during his 2020 impeachment trial and was widely condemned in the legal world for arguing that a president could not be impeached for doing something “in the public interest” that “he believes will help him get elected.” He has also been a fixer for multiple people seeking pardons and clemency from Trump, using his access to the president in exchange for money. Dershowitz even argued for clemency on behalf of a man who was convicted of possessing child sexual abuse materials and sex trafficking. Sources also said that Daedone’s camp has reached out for support from disgraced former Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, the longtime Trump ally who was his first pick for attorney general. Gaetz featured the case on his show on the far-right One America News Network, casting Daedone’s conviction as a partisan scheme against Trump supporters.

Former Trump campaign official and longtime ally Roger Stone and Heritage Foundation’s Mike Howell are also reportedly part of the effort to pardon Daedone. Similarly, activist Cynthia Hughes of the Patriot Freedom Project is a close friend of Ed Martin, who is now the U.S. pardon attorney. Hughes pushed for pardons for Jan. 6 insurrectionists, which Trump delivered in his first year back in office, and has now taken up the OneTaste cause. In March, Daedone was sentenced to nine years in prison after she was convicted of running a forced labor scheme. Also convicted was Rachel Cherwitz, who served as OneTaste’s director of sales.  Authorities say that women who signed up for OneTaste classes on “orgasmic meditation” became indebted to the company and were then forced to work for no pay and perform sex acts on investors and clients.

Onetaste has finally come to an end. It's still odd for me to think about since I was a member for almost 2 years. The first year and a half I must admit we're great, and dare I say a needed experience for me, and the last, well yeah it was the realization that what I called family was very much turning into a cult. Maybe because it was based in sexuality we thought otherwise, and we thought nobody was getting hurt, but it became obvious at a certain point that for at least a few women, they were being coached that what was painful was something else. While conversations were deep and raw, nobody was a therapist, knew how to address trauma, and most of us were operating on good intentions, but then again, those get clouded when sex is involved. I don't regret my time, it was a needed experience, a time of deep discovery, but I hate knowing that people were harmed.
