❝You're kind of an idiot, you know.❞
In a nutshell, Temperance is:
✔ Hard-working → Tolerant → Pragmatic
✘ Mistrusting → Unfriendly → Pessimistic
Temperance was nothing short of her namesake, with more self-control than anyone else her age. With her older sister being the "wild child," it gave the younger sister more of a reason to keep her head on straight, but that didn't mean she enjoyed it. There were a few of her classmates that whispered she might be crazy, but they never hurt more than her eardrums. She had never cared what her peers thought of her, only how well she did on her schoolwork. The teasing kept her from making many--if any--friends in school and normally she would just fall into a group with her sister's friends, who held more ideals that were on the same levels as hers, and Temperance enjoyed the conversation. Who was she to question where it came from?
Being the middle child was never easy. Temperance often got heat backfiring from her youngest brother, while at the same time taking blows from Ophelia who paraded back and forth from not being able to stand her to being her best friend. If her own sister couldn't make up her mind about Temperance, then what's to say anyone else could? But it didn't matter, because the younger of the redheads had developed her sense of independence young, and she wanted out much more than Ophelia did, but didn't dare show as much rebellion, and when her older sister left, rumors of the Resistance had been at an all time high and their parents knew where she went, which put Temperance on even more of a pedestal. Not only was she the eldest of their children at home, her twenty-second birthday was approaching with alarming speeds.
Quickly, she found out how difficult it was to be the eldest child at home, and more and more Temperance found her thought invaded by thoughts of moving--no, running--away to something bigger and better. She wasn't sure if the Resistance was necessarily her thing, after all following in the footsteps of an older sister Temperance wasn't even sure liked her sounded like a good idea compared to swimming in a leech infested lake, but that didn't stop her from considering it. There was also the option to go under the knife and until Temperance packed up, she always had the choice to go and live her life normally. She, like anyone else in school, heard the rumors about the Resistance, about how they're nothing but a bunch of starving wanna-be farmers and that wasn't something Temperance didn't want to be a part of--or did she? Would the smell of freedom lure her away from the comforts of home, or would Temperance go under the knife and let nature take its course?
