For TAG at UCI, it says, "has completed one UC-transferable math course with a grade of C or better by the end of the summer 2015 term;• has completed one UC-transferable English course with a grade of C or better by the end of the summer 2015 term" this includes AP credit correct?

The UC website says that if we are using AP credit to fulfill the transferable course requirements, enter this in the additional comments section. What exactly should I type in this box?

We don't recall seeing this on the UC website.In any case, you would only have to enter this information in the section reserved for IB and AP scores in the UC application.

I have a GED instead of a high school diploma because of severe health complications in my junior year. I started CC two years after my GED to recuperate from my illness. I was a 4.0 student in all honors courses in HS and I am having no problems in CC with maintaining my GPA. I plan on majoring in microbiology. I'm worried that my GED, my age and my high school performance (failing my last semester entirely) will affect my ability to transfer. Am I worrying over nothing?

You’re good to go. Having a GED won’t hinder you at all. People as young as 15 or old as 55 have transferred in the past. I know a handful of pre-18-year-old students who tested out of high school and transferred from community colleges to four-year institutions. There’s also a number of news articles about these students you can look up.

As stated in our FAQ, the UCs don’t look at high school grades once you hit junior standing (60 semester units) for the transfer admission process. You may need your HS language courses if you’re planning to use those to complete the IGETC.

If you planning to apply to some privates, then your high school grades may be reviewed.

How important is finishing prereqs? What if I dont do one? Will it ruin my chances?

Depends on the major and the prerequisite in question. If you major in math, you probably won’t get in if you don’t take every last math class offered at your institution.
