A delicious and flavorful twist on the classic burger, featuring crispy smashed sausage patties with melted cheese, onions, pickles, and a special sauce.
Ingredients: 4 sausage patties. 4 hamburger buns. 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese. 1/2 cup diced onions. 1/2 cup diced pickles. 1/4 cup ketchup. 1/4 cup mayonnaise. 1 tablespoon vegetable oil. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Preheat a griddle or skillet over medium-high heat. While the griddle is heating, form the sausage patties into thin, flat rounds. Add vegetable oil to the hot griddle. Place the sausage patties on the griddle and use a spatula to smash them down until they are thin and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Season with salt and pepper. While the patties are cooking, split the hamburger buns and toast them on the griddle until they are golden brown. In a small bowl, mix ketchup and mayonnaise to create a special sauce. Once the sausage patties are cooked, place them on a plate and immediately sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese. Allow the cheese to melt slightly from the residual heat. To assemble the burgers, spread the special sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place a sausage patty with melted cheese on top of the sauce, followed by diced onions and pickles. Top with the other half of the toasted bun to complete the burger. Serve the Sausage Smashed Burgers hot with your favorite side dishes.
