New warp going on the small loom. Repurposed vintage linen lace thread dyed in a bath of brown onion skin and iron. The patchy colour is deliberate. It’s now on the loom but I have yet to thread up 🙂

A tight squeeze. Dyeing bamboo/linen yarn in too small a pot as the hot plate died and I only have one dye pot To use on my hob . Lots of dyeing/dying.

Here are some videos of an onion skin dye bath I did the other day! It’s been exciting to be dyeing so much at home and really using my studio space here. Amidst all of this hubbub it is grounding to be building various routines within my own space. Feeling so fortunate 💚🌱

The first video shows the dye bath at its true colour, without any chemical modifications

The second video shows me adding an iron mordant to the dye bath, which effected the colour 
.
The third video shows the final colour after the mordant has set in the bath, changing it from a golden yellow to an olive like green
