You know how 5e druids can’t have metal shields or armour? You know how tortles therefore make handy druids due to natural armour? And can still use shields? And are usually born in the last year or so of their parents' lives, fated to be orphaned quite quickly, left with only whatever material goods their parents left them? And tend to be fairly laid-back, survival orientated people?

Concept: Tortle druid who carries part of their parent’s shell as both memento and shield.

You know. For when you want that Cubone level of casual tragedy and/or pragmatism and/or heartwarming in your D&D.
