Wendigo Meets Ghost

She had hoped the rumors to be false, but they proved otherwise when she was summoned to meet with Lieutenant General Bryant. It was the day after what she had considered to be a successful recon mission, when SAS sent over one of their officers, no doubtedly to talk about said recon mission and her findings. It was most irregular of them, considering they normally reported information to the SAS through a third party, or through telecommunications of some sort. She entered the room to be greeted by the presence of two men, one to be the Lieutenant General himself and the other she presumed to be the SAS member, whom she quickly dismissed without a second glance. His presence alone was enough to annoy her.
She just knew they were probably here to complain or inquire about the lack of material, and that would be the downfall of her. Humans always loved to pin the blame on everyone but themselves, the true culprits. She had seen and experienced it time and time again. However, she was smacked in the face with something but that. Instead, Lt. General Bryant informs her that the SAS are quite pleased with her breakthrough and now want to work more closely together on the matter. She teetered on the edge of her heels, having not predicated this possibility at all during her rundown on the way here. Work…together?
“I do not see how any of this is necessary. There’s no logical point to it. I have maintained my usual performance as always, especially when I have worked alone. If my work was not satisfactory enough to maintain this work style, then why wasn’t I made aware?” She defended through clenched teeth. This could not possibly be happening to her. To. Her. Of all people. Her superior glared her down,
“This has nothing to do with your work. We are simply joining forces with one of SAS’s finest in regards to the latest developments.” The older man turned, dipping his head toward the other man in the room, “This is Ghost, or more formally known, Lieutenant Riley. He will be your partner on the next few missions you will be assigned.”
