MEET AN UNKNOWN ISRAELI HERO That young man.  The only one not blurred in the picture.  He saw that a group of Givati soldiers who were on break from fighting our enemies entered a restaurant.  This young man entered the restaurant himself and paid for all their food.  The soldiers assumed that he was a wealthy person and gladly accepted it.  When the soldiers left the restaurant to head back to base, they saw a small kiosk across the street and went there to buy some cold drinks and snacks.  They couldn’t believe what they saw.  The young man who paid for their meals was working in the kiosk! And he refused to take any money for their drinks and snacks.  The young man told them, “I don’t mind if I make no money. What’s important to me is that you guys are full and satisfied.”  We are a nation of heroes of all types…

The protests in Israel, growing each day, fill me with great hope for our homeland. These glimpses not only inspire, but also reveal a national life-force that remains vital and hopeful. Look at the sea of flags, held by hundreds of thousands whose every footfall is a call for an aspirational nationalism, mass patriotism that is not populist antiestablishmentarianism. We believe in a Beloved Community, where justice and accountability are core to governance. The Jewish People is united, across the world, demanding health in our home, and this is cause for hope - and a doubling down in our efforts to intervene in the coalition's ill-advised, deeply dangerous actions.
