Fingertips brushed down along her arms; lips pressed against the groove behind her shoulder. Cole’s touch was warm, warmer than her skin, leaving pinpricks of phantom burns in its wake. Old, faded scars already blistered at her waist, around her wrists, outside her thighs, the base of her neck – the easy to grab, easy to hold places of her anatomy that mapped pleasure and pain, so often indistinguishable from one another.

You look beautiful, his touch said, as the hands grazing her arms moved to her waist. His arms loosely circled her body from behind, bringing his cheek to rest inches from her cheek; her dark curls tickled his jaw, her scent strong – bold, floral, fruit, spice, her shampoo, her perfume, heady.

Priya eased, allowed him to hold her, preserving the fantasy for a few brief moments, maybe habit, maybe an unconscious desire to touch and be touched, love and be loved, like in the beginning when they were secret smiles and tangled sheets, stolen intimacy, fingers brushing beneath tables, kisses behind closed doors.

His ring was gone, a piece of discarded treasure; the sign of another failed marriage, skin paler where the band rested, suffering years of lies and more lies and infidelities. He never expected relief (he begged Eve to stay, to forgive him, offering only excuses and empty promises of change), or buoyancy (the way the word divorced tripped off the tongue was less liberating than he was led to believe). But maybe a lack of forbiddance soured his and Priya’s fun, plunged them into a seriousness they both found difficult to stomach.

An impatient look flitted across her face, once their closeness settled in, took shape, recalling only an hour before, raised voices, flared tempers, practically violent (funny, he barely even remembered how the argument started). He smiled, sharply, feeling her body tense against his.

“Ready?” he asked, pulling away, temperature dropping as he crossed over to the bed, lazily shrugged his suit jacket on, while Priya slid her wrap from the dresser, snaked it around her back, carefully covering a new bruise purpling the spot just above her elbow.

Cole watched the graceful movement, her glance, her nod, with a sudden desire to tie her to the headboard, douse the room in gasoline, sit at the foot of the bed while her flat went up in flames, burning them both, leaving everything charred and ash.

Instead, he returned to her, a chaste kiss, lips barely brushing (not an apology, no, more of a… punctuation). If they survived this, he knew, it would be wreckage. But what other way was there to love?

hester takes her grand old time scrubbing herself with like 5 different soaps and uses up all the hot water, but it’s ok because pierce actually prefers short, colder showers

depends on who was wronged. pierce acts like he’s extremely unforgiving and often has a lot of reluctance re: apologizing like an Adult, but all hester really needs to do is hug him and/or cook him literally anything to sway him. or kiss his nose. it’s dumb. lbr hester is a lot harder to please bc she prefers make up sex and pierce would much rather do some dumb arbitrary task than be completely at her mercy in bed (actually he loves doing things solely for her benefit but she can’t KNOW that)

pierce l o v e s the rain and hester l o v e s the sun. they can never agree on places to vacation bc they either have too much sun (“let’s go to spain” “do u want me to die”) or too much rain (“how about patagonia” “pierce whyyyyy”)

assuming there is no snooping to be done: after supper, pierce does some work or sifts through s.n.o.o.p. files while hester pretends to read or just chills doing her own thing. eventually pierce gets distracted and they end up doing something together like a board game, watching a movie, Actually Reading, or discussing Life. generally they go to bed around the same time. brush their teeth and get in their jammies together. if pierce is lucky hester will warm up his side of the bed for him c:

how do they make up after a fight?if it’s just a casual argument honestly they are made up before the fight is even done, kisses generally have something to do with it. if it’s a bigger fight, normally about 20 minutes without the other person in bed will do it, it’s a lonely night without someone beside you. and all other arguments are denied by pippin who won’t let them be angry and tattle tells when they have feelings. “dad said to ask if you were okay and not to tell you he asked.”

who prefers rain and who prefers sun?fergus p much runs on sun so he definitely is down for that weather and charlie used to not be a big fan of ran but now he knows when there’s rain outside fergus will stay home from the flower shop and they’ll order in food and have a lazy day of making out and watching movies w pip.

what’s their favourite place to go together?they took a road trip together shortly after getting together. drove to the beach and ate fish and chips and then rented a hotel room and stayed up the whole night talking until they had to re-rent the room so they can sleep. it’s a p dreamy place.

The Christmas tree is on fire.

“I AM LITERALLY IN THE NEXT ROOM OVER!” Pierce shouts from literally the next room over. His exclamation is promptly followed by the sound of something hard colliding with something harder, and then some expletives. He stumbles into the living room clutching at his knee.

The Christmas tree is not on fire.

Evie just stands there, alone, all dejected-like.

Pierce levels her with a Look.

“Evie, the Christmas tree is not on fire.”

When she doesn’t answer, he follows her gaze to the rug… and the enormous pile of guacamole sitting messily on top of it. He wants to be mad. He is mad. The party is going to start very, very shortly, this is a mess–

He groans, miserably, and crumples on the floor in a pitiful heap.

“Um, Porter?” Evie taps him on the shoulder, empty bowl in her other hand. “About that text. It was the only way to… get your attention.”

Pierce pushes himself into a half-sitting, half-slumped-over-and-dead-inside position. “You could have told me you’d spilled dip and I would have come prepared.”

She should knee him in the face for that (again) but instead Evie helps him up. It turns out she is the perfect height to be a Pierce Porter Hanger, much like Hester or even Desi. He limps off to the kitchen and returns with club soda and paper towels. Evie approves until Pierce hands her the supplies.

“You break it, you buy it.”

“The paint’s supposed to go where?”“On the bottom of the… Sands, did you not paint the bottom of the cabinet?”

The look on her face tells him all he needs to know.

“I can’t– how? HOW?” Pierce angrily picks up the drill again and begins to remove the new medicine cabinet from their bathroom wall.

In the meantime, Hester must go on the defensive. “Nobody is going to look at the bottom of the cabinet and judge us for not painting the bottom. This isn’t even the bathroom that most people use!” It’s not a very convincing argument, and it shows. Hester scowls right back at Pierce and raises her voice so it can be heard over the drill. “It wasn’t very clear what you were telling me to do, either! And there are things I would rather be doing than this!”

“I know it’s not the most fun thing,” he snaps in return, “but when something needs to be done, you do it. Otherwise, you’re fucking useless.”

The instant the words tumble out of his mouth, Pierce regrets them. Yet he still catches the terrible, terrible look on Hester’s face, and has to drop the drill on the tiled floor with a loud clatter to make sure he catches her before she can escape and pin her to the wall.

She won’t even look at him, and he sighs. “I didn’t mean it, Sands. Sorry. Sorry. Really.” Still nothing. “It’s just… it took hours to put that bloody thing together, and now we have to take it apart, and it’s late, and there’s–”

Her hand shoots out and clamps over his mouth. “If you’re that angry, maybe we should just make out.”

“Sands, I really–”

“–think we shouldn’t, there are more important things to be doing, durr hburr, but I know you want to.”

There are more important things they should be doing, obviously, but Pierce is still more than happy to oblige. He channels all of his rage, initially directed towards the awful medicine cabinet assembly from hell, into passion, and kisses Hester fast and hard. She responds first by curling her fingers into his shoulder, slowly moving towards his hair.  He’d press her further into the wall if he wasn’t so scared of putting a dent in it and having to do more home renovation. As soon as he has a vision of himself spackling the wall, he kisses her again, and again, and enough times over that he loses count. She spends most of her time trying to pull him closer, even though he’s still keeping her pinned her to the wall with the full weight of his body.

They slide down the wall and end up on the cold, tiled floor, Hester (naturally) on top, trying to catch their breath. Pierce left his inhaler downstairs, but he should be okay without it. Maybe. Probably not, now that he thinks about it.

“See? You feel better now, don’t you, Porter?”“I feel like this is stupid and we should just go to bed immediately.”

Sands smooths his rumpled hair, only to laugh when it sticks up in places. She’s more than happy to oblige, and crawls off of Pierce’s torso to help him to his feet. “That’s not a bad idea.”

She stands on her tiptoes to initiate another kiss, but Pierce presses her back down to her regular height with an index finger to her forehead.

“Brush your teeth. I need to go find my inhaler.”“We are so married.”

Before Zelda has a chance to stammer that she is not, in fact, Mrs. Wyatt, the man is already telling her what a pleasure it is to meet her and what a beautiful wife Daniel has. Zelda doesn’t want to be rude, despite the fact that she is internally withering up and dying at the thought. So, she shakes the man’s hand with a pretty smile on her face.

You owe me for this, Wyatt, she thinks, through clenched teeth – since this man is a wealthy benefactor contributing to Daniel’s campaign (a campaign in which Zelda staunchly, stubbornly, does not support, and does not hesitate to remind him every chance she gets).

This is almost as bad as the time they were trapped in a coat closet together, she thinks, suppressing a shudder as the conversation turns to politics, which, God knows she can’t interject her thoughts into without giving herself away as (likely) the only Republican in the room.

After what seems like hours (but is probably more like 15 minutes), said benefactor excuses himself and Zelda promptly steals Daniel’s wineglass from him to take a long sip.

“Don’t know why people think we’re married,” she mutters, into the glass, contemplating this mystery, “obviously he didn’t read all the articles claiming that I’m your mistress,” Zelda glances up at him, teasingly, with a little smile. Daniel chuckles. Then, he tries to take the glass back from her.

She pulls it away.

“No way, I need this more than you do,” she says, maneuvering the glass so that it’s behind her back, only causing him to have to reach around her to try to get it, which subsequently causes a game of keep away, which results in the wine spilling on his jacket.

Well, this is how they ended up in the bathroom of the Hay-Adams Hotel, with her sitting on a sink and blotting his jacket with cool water while Daniel watches, intently, to see whether or not she can actually get it out. He’s so far reminded her no less than 3 times how expensive that jacket is, to which she has replied ‘mhm,’ ‘I’m sure,’ and blatantly ignored.

“There,” she holds the jacket up to admire her work. Though it’s still a little damp, the stain is seriously minimized. She looks up at Daniel. Daniel looks down at her.

“It’ll do,” he replies.

But they’re still looking at each other.

For a second she thinks – oh, God, oh God, no, it’s going to happen again, why is it going to happen again – but she’d be lying if she said she wasn’t thinking about kissing him as he leans in and she leans in and instead of their lips meeting he leaves a gentle kiss on her nose.

And she just sits there, internally screaming, and externally groaning, “why-”

Stefi’s hands are still covered in blood, but she’s drunk and she’s high and she doesn’t care about the mess – only that the job is done.She turns to Cara with a sigh and a rush of affection, taking Cara by the shoulders (steadying her own balance in the process) and looking her in the eyes.“Karisha,” she says, matter-of-factly, oblivious to the fact that the blood on her hands is now getting on Cara’s shirt, “it is very important to me that you know this,” her accent only gets worse when she’s inebriated, but since Cara doesn’t understand Russian, this will have to do.Stefi is oblivious to the mixture of alarm and concern on Cara’s face when she responds with an, “um…” and Stefi presses a finger to her lips, shhhhh.“You are like my sister,” and by this, she means, you are like a sister to me – or, you are like the sister I never had. And Stefi is practically overcome by this sentiment, punctuating it by placing a kiss on Cara’s forehead that leaves a (very obvious) lipstick mark where her lips were pressed. This is when Stefi hears a groan from the supposed-to-be dead associate on the ground. “Leave him,” she says, taking a hand from Cara’s shoulder to wave, dismissively, “come have a drink with me,” during which Stefi will have a drink and Cara will keep her company, “I have a story you will like about the time I assassinated someone at The Prado.”
