I haven't heard himself call himself that. He used "D.I. John Smith," as if I would buy that with that ridiculous cap on his head.
But what do you mean, "trail of death"? He dropped in and said that there was a monster trying to kill "someone of importance" so it could... make changes to our society? He wasn't very clear. As if he assumed that I knew everything. It's about as bad as running around with Sherlock, except I know somewhat how Sherlock's black hole works.
