Girl I had to stop watching SYTTD and basically all other wedding shows because peoples’ budgets are WAY higher than mine is and it just makes me more stressed lol which is a shame because I was super stoked to love wedding shows even more than I already did!!

June. It’ll be super hot in August, especially because it’s hotter in cities, and you’ll want to walk around and that just won’t be fun in the heat. Also, go to China Town!

My Questions:

1. If you could be in any T.V. show, what would it be?

-Glee. It's the worst show in the world, I am the first to admit it, but I would give anything to even be an extra on that show.

2. What is your dream career path?

-I am so excited to be a social worker. I can't imagine doing anything else. I keep jumping back and forth between working with older adults with a specialty in AIDS patients, or working with LGBTQ youth, or working with child welfare. I'm so torn on what I want to do at this point; I hope I'm able to figure it out before I graduate!

3. Who/what inspires you?

-My girlfriend, Nina, is my biggest inspiration. She literally keeps me going. I would not have made it through this last semester without her there to hold me up and push me forward. She is such an amazing, strong woman who I love with all of my soul.

4. If you could only eat one food and listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would they be?

-Food: Sushi. If I had to pick a specific kind? Shrimp tempura from this small town sushi place near me

-Album: Probably Demi's self-titled album

5. Major turn on?

-To be honest, I'm not sure what turns me on anymore. My meds have taken away my sex drive almost completely and it SUCKS. I will say, there is NOTHING better than sexy lingerie. Or nipple piercings. Or sexy lingerie WITH nipple piercings.

6. Do you have any/want to get any tattoos/piercings? If yes, what and where?

-I have my eyebrow pierced, three lobe piercings, my cartilage, my industrial, and my belly button pierced. I have a star tattoo on my hip, "Courage" on my left foot, and a rainbow equal sign on my right ankle. I want to get my nipples pierced, and I also want to get "Warrior" with a green ribbon tattooed on my ribcage or on my thigh.

7. Where have you traveled?

-Basically nowhere. I haven't been further north than Pennsylvania or further south than West Virginia. My outliers to that are my two trips to Colorado (which is the most AMAZING place and I want to live there so badly) and my trip to Disney World with my choir senior year.

8. Pets?

-Five miniature horses, three dogs, a cat, two fish, and a hamster. All of which reside in my parents' home.

9. What has been your weirdest dream that you can remember?

-I had a recurring dream as a child of an alien abduction taking place at my grandmother's house. I had it again like three years ago, and it was exactly the same as it had been back then. Kind of creepy.

10. What are you doing with your life right now?

-Focusing on school and my relationship with Nina. I'm very satisfied with those pursuits.

11. Where do you see your life in 15 years?

-Definitely married to Nina, hopefully with our two kids (one adopted from Ethiopia, the other one that we gave birth to), and possibly as foster parents. I will have my LSW, MSW, and maybe even my LCSW. We'll be living in Colorado (which probably won't actually happen because Nina is too close to her family) or Delaware, and we'll be the happiest damn family anyone ever saw. :)

Do you need to have hair experience to work at the Bippidy Boppidy Boutique? I mean, I can do braids and french braids and that kind of simple thing, but I've never really "done hair" before. But I do have experience with kids (teaching at a preschool, kindergarten, and babysitting). So would I have a (good?) chance at getting that job?

Salon experience definitely does help a lot when it comes to getting a job at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, but it's not necessarily a requirement. So yes, I would say you've still got a good chance of getting that role, especially if you've got a lot of experience in dealing with kids. Just stress to your interviewer how much you would love to have a role at the Boutique, how much experience you have in dealing with kids, and so on. Good luck!

Hi there! What season would you recommend-spring or fall? I know in fall there's the Christmas Party and Halloween Party, which would be fun, but I'm also worried it would be so busy I would get overwhelmed! In your opinion, which one is better? Also, how does financial aid work? I'm getting some right now, but I can only get it if I'm a full time student, I think. I also have a scholarship. I know I should ask my college admins, but do you have any idea how that would work with DCP? Thanks!

I honestly think fall is better, but I might be biased--I did my program in the fall, after all (and I don't really have any personal experience of the spring program to compare it to). You're right that it will get very busy, though, particularly towards the end of the program. Working New Year's at Disney is INSANE. Believe it or not, though, as crazy as it was, I actually had a lot of fun on New Year's. By the time the really hectic holidays roll around, you've been working there long enough that you've got the hang of whatever role you're doing pretty well. And as crazy as it may be, I think it's a great experience to have under your belt. After working New Year's at Disney, nothing any other job has to throw at you will ever faze you again. ;) The fall program was a lot of fun, and I'm glad I went in the fall, but I think it's honestly all up to personal preference.

As far as financial aid goes, it differs so much from school to school that I can't really give you much help, unfortunately. Your best bet really is to talk to somebody at your school. If you can get college credit for doing the program, it might not be a problem, since you might be able to get enough credit hours to still be considered a full-time student. In my case, I wasn't able to get enough credit to stay full-time, so I ended up taking the semester off. But I talked to my financial aid office beforehand and made sure I wouldn't lose my aid--in my case, they allowed me to take the semester off and still keep my financial aid (including scholarships) as long as I came back to school within a year. But again, it differs hugely from school to school, so things work out very differently for different people. The only way to find out specifics is to talk to your school.
