Big Moves for Clean Energy in Illinois!
Exciting news! 🚀 Onyx Renewables has officially broken ground on a 2.5-MW solar project at the Urbana and Champaign Sanitary District (UCSD) wastewater treatment plant in Illinois. This project, developed alongside Sol Systems and Verde Solutions, is a major step toward reducing energy costs and increasing sustainability.
💡 Here’s What’s Happening: ✅ A ground-mounted solar array will power UCSD’s southwest wastewater plant, with any extra energy helping offset costs. ✅ Onyx Renewables is handling construction, financing, and long-term operation. ✅ The project is part of a larger $35.9M upgrade to make UCSD facilities 75% energy self-sufficient by 2027. ✅ Expected to go live by the end of 2025!
This is a win for sustainability, cost savings, and clean energy adoption in Illinois. Great to see local infrastructure moving toward a greener future! 🌱♻️
