To the "time lord is a species" anon. Gallifrey is a planet, there's a species on there called gallifreyans. You wouldn't consider being a Sergeant General a new species, would you? No. Time Lords (similar to sergeant generals) are ranks, not species. In fact, in the series they even go as to explain you have to go through academy to earn a TARDIS, therefore marking you as a Time Lord. Also, ginger means you're a hero, or a subrank in the Time Lord. That's why the doctor wants to be ginger.
