While Visorak were mostly known for their aggression, the Oohnorak provided a uniquely cunning edge to the horde. This breed of Visorak utilized the power of mimicry to lure prey into ambushes and traps. Oohnorak also possessed a basic form of telepathy that could be used in conjunction with their mimicry, which increased their effectiveness as hunters. Perhaps the only disadvantageous trait that the breed had was its lack of leadership skills; these Visorak were much better followers.

Rhotuka spinners generated by the Oohnorak were rather plain in function, yet highly effective. Upon contact, their Rhotuka would cause their target to become completely numb. This would render the target unable to even flee from the encounter, dooming the target to its fate.

The Visorak are vicious, spider-like Rahi that travel in hordes. They primarily utilize their powerful mandibles and Rhotuka launchers for hunting and self defense, but are also capable of awe-inspiring levels of destruction when in numbers. The creatures also possess a unique venom with the ability to mutate its victims into highly aggressive and beastly monsters. With one sole exception, its effects are completely irreversible. A being suffering from the venom could only hope to stave off the psychological changes for as long as possible before eventually succumbing.

The Visorak species consists of seven different breeds. Six of them correspond with each of the six major elements in the Matoran Universe, while the seventh breed is much like an elite type of Visorak. Each different breed employs their own unique abilities and strategies in activities such as hunting, but are all generally aggressive. Despite this, they were always fiercely loyal to those that managed to lead them.
