Ohoku ~Eien~ (2012) - Fuminori Kaneko
The plot of this wasn't the greatest. Not sure if readers of the manga would have gotten any more clarity but Emmonosuke's plotting mostly flew past my head. It was really the acting that held it together in this one.
Ono Machiko is a genius actress and I would watch anything she's in. Also it baffles me how Kanno Miho seems like a ditz in real life but her acting is always so watchable. There's this part when her character is alone with Emonnosuke (Sakai Masato), talking about how difficult it is to be a female shogun and she suddenly yearns for her daughter - That really made my heart wrench.
