I love this, as usual, was hoping someone would write this scebe. I also hope whoever is reading your fics and stealing ideas for scripts is reading this one and we get more Tracy interacting with Charity and Vanessa. I understand why it was basically just Charity and Vanessa for most of the Bails/Ryan stuff but there's no excuse now for not having a bit of mingling.

Let me tell you that I’m so paranoid about vanity now. I knew while Charity’s storyline was ongoing that literally nothing would happen to them. Now that’s over, it’s fair game and literally anything from splitting up to one of them leaving could happen at any time. And that makes me feel sick.

I’m pretty sure they’re safe for a bit. Emma’s talking about them in terms of ‘next year’ and ‘a few years down the line’ in interviews. 

And saying stuff like this:

On whether she wants Vanessa and Charity to stay together, Emma replied: "Yeah, for now. It's nice in soaps to see functional relationships and not to put two people together and then break them up six weeks down the line. I think it's interesting to see things unravel. Vanessa and Charity can still have their domestics and their clanging disagreements, but to see them stay together for the foreseeable future would only be right, just because it's something that's working for both of them and it's showing different sides to their personalities.”

They’ve been pushing them hard in the media and had glamorous photoshoots done. It doesn’t feel like they’re going anywhere.

I really don’t think it will be. Going off what Emma’s said in recent interviews, I think the verdict will be guilty, but that Charity will realise that Bails being put behind bars doesn’t actually magically fix anything. Those things still happened to her, justice or no justice.

Emma's mentioned stuff about Charity questioning why she was ever put in the position to be abused by Bails, which relates back to her parents and being thrown out. Which is probably related to deep rooted 'Why didn't they love me enough' type feelings.

Also, with the whole 'pushing Vanessa away' thing, that could be related to the fact that Vanessa's been the one to encourage Charity to seek justice. And now, if she finds that's not done what she thought it would, she might lash out and blame Vanessa for making her dredge up all these feelings.

Anyway, that's just my tuppence. I'm usually wrong, so we'll see ;)

I can’t help but think the people that do that are literally children. You should see it on twitter. It’s pathetic. Honestly convinced none of them are over the age of 16

I don’t venture much further than the official Emmerdale twitter and some of the cast and spoiler journalist types tbh. The tags depressed the hell out of me so I purposefully stopped looking. 

As I said, I try as far as possible to make fandom fun for myself, and seeing people spew unwarranted hate at television characters isn’t fun for me. So I avoid it :)

Although it does look like she’s holding it directly in front of her face like you used to have to do with olden day cameras

I’m no expert in car crashes but I feel certain they’d have been turned into human pancakes if a convertible had rolled over and landed that way. Mind you I’m just bitter that they didn’t make more of it and give us Charity comforting Vanessa in hospital. (Ie. Your fic)

There are times the writing makes no sense the January rash kill 2 put someone in a coma but lucky was just a walking wounded they buildup to this crash made it seem like someone had died or end up in a serious way

I am also no expert in crashes, or in anything really, but I did find the fact that both of them walked away from that a tad hard to believe.

Anyway, it made me glad that I didn’t hang off on posting the ficlet until I’d seen the episode, as was my original intention. I was going to make it fit around the canon.  If I’d done that, it would’ve gone something like this...

Charity comes in after her shift at the pub, settling onto the couch beside Vanessa. Vanessa leans her head on Charity’s shoulder. Charity wraps an arm around Vanessa and sighs, turning to press a kiss to her forehead.

“How was work?” Vanessa asks.

“Chas made me do a stock take. She’s still punishing me for disappearing.” She eases off her shoes. “How’s your day been?”

“Yeah, fine.” A pause. “Oh, by the way, my dad was in a car accident.”

Charity sits up and looks at Vanessa. “Is...he okay?”

Lifting her head, Vanessa nods and smiles. “Yeah, fine. Messed his hair a bit, but that seems to be about it.” She sighs and settles back against Charity. “Brew?”

“Yeah, go on then.”
