If you can get your hands on JH Chajes’s Between Worlds that’s where I got this information… It’s an academic text unfortunately, so expensive, but maybe a school library could get hold of it?
i found it paperback for ~20 which is not Cheap but also not The Usual Academic Book Expensive so i’ll stick it on a wishlist and maybe buy it w holiday money :0 !! thanks for the rec!
I don't know, I think ronan making out with anybody just to figure stuff out or because of sexual frustration would be ooc since in canon he doesn't do casual. Thats what makes rovinsky fics so unbelievable. I think having his first kiss with someone he's in love with makes perfect sense for his character.
there’s a whole range of emotions and relationships between “casual-meaningless” and “true love forever” out there in the world tho
as someone who was in some ways similar 2 ronan, going from trauma/self-loathing/Unfortunate relationships, and then trying again right off the bat with very emotionally serious relationships. that can be a recipe for Disaster. while i do think ronan and adam are capable of making it work, there are probably going to be misunderstandings and hurt feelings, and not the kind i find emotionally/narratively cathartic 2 consider. so: alternatives.
& i really like bickery half-fond ships and trc pretty much under-delivered on that front 4 me barring that time henry and ronan threw pens at each other & the blogger is only human
also this is just a general statement that as a trauma survivor i’m very much not interested in or comfortable talking about rovinsky with anons/in public asks (tho i would be happy to discuss it off anon or over chat if you’d like).
