Valentine’s Day Special #17
One Piece World: No Specific Time (No Spoilers)
“You” 💙 with Kizaru, crush for 4 months, requested by anonymous
A/N: So this was interesting to write and the prompt was a captain with Kizaru so I tried this route. I hope you enjoy it regardless.
This was getting ridiculous. Well, if you were honest, you kind of liked the ridiculousness of it all. You, a small time captain, being chased by an Admiral of the Navy was both terrifying yet exhilarating. You met him by accident and, now, he made it a goal to chase after you and your crew when he had the chance. Lucky for you, you escaped unscathed. You weren’t stupid. There was no way you could defeat the man but, so help you, you wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of capturing you. Besides, you knew he would chase anyway. He hadn’t stopped yet. You did have an advantage over the man.
You were a great swimmer.
You sent your crew away so you could distract the man. You could see his devil fruit lighting up the area you just ran from and made your way to the dock. As he appeared on the wooden dock, you had just hit the water. You dove deep into the water and swam under the dock as his devil fruit lit up the water where you first hit. You wouldn’t be able to swim away from the island but you would use his own search for amusement against him. Your eyes closed as you focused on holding your breath. Soon he would leave from boredom and you’d have another win. Not getting arrested was always a win.
After about a minute or so, you opened your eyes and noticed that the light was gone and the water was calm. You were in the clear! Lucky for you since you were running out of air. You swam to the surface and gasped for air when you finally broke through. You regulated your breathing and listened closely. Hearing nothing, you swam out to the end of the dock. You stretched upward and grasped the wooden edge, grunting as you pulled yourself up and over, the water making your clothes and body so much heavier but you made it. You slumped back to your butt on the wood, putting a hand over your chest as you caught your breath.
“Impressive. A whole minute?” You jolted at the familiar sing song voice so much that you almost fell back into the water. You gaped as you looked at the man sitting across from you with a smile on his lips. “Not bad, but I’ve had enough with this cat and mouse chase.”
You scrambled to your feet as he stood up as well and stepped towards you. With his long legs, he was quick to be in front of you. You were now at the end of the dock, clasping your hands behind your back as to keep as much space as you could between the two of you. You had been waiting for this moment. The moment in which he would finally catch you and you’d be going to jail. It wouldn’t be his most impressive catch, you both knew this, but it was a notch in his belt nonetheless. You had wanted the chase to stop, didn’t you? This was it. Against Kizaru, the only ending for you would be jail or death. You supposed jail was better than the other option. Even when you knew this was your fate, there was a pain in your chest. The small moments you had with the man were soon coming to an end. It was silent as you looked at the man with his hands in his pockets.
“So, did the mouse lose?” You teased, accepting your fate and smiling at Kizaru, despite the ache. He hummed and tapped his chin, gaze flitting up to the sky.
“I wouldn’t say lose, per say. The chase was more fun than I anticipated.” His casual smile never changed as he looked at you once more. You felt your face heat up slightly at the way his eyes seemed so focus on your face that it made you look away, your own smile widening a bit.
“You’re taking me to jail now, or what, Admiral Kizaru?” Your eyes widened when his finger came up under your chin and tilted it up to make eye contact with him again.
“I wouldn’t want to put my little mouse in a trap.”
Why did your heart pick up at the “my” added to the nickname? Maybe it was because he enjoyed this little game as you had started to? His casual smile slowly turned into a more genuine one as your expression must have shown your confusion and your embarrassment as the next words slipped out.
“I don’t recall being your anything... Admiral.”
He hummed once more before the hand that was by your face landed softly on your arm instead before saying, “well, let’s discuss that a bit further. I’d say over dinner?” He genuinely inquired, tilting his head as he smiled at your expression.
You could hardly keep your head straight at the request. Who knew that other than jail and death that there was another secret option going through his head? You wouldn’t fold so easily, however. With your free hand, you slicked back some of your still wet hair and smirked at him.
“Answer me this, first.” He waited for you to continue, his fingertips brushing down your arm and elbow to your forearm, sending goosebumps across your skin. “Why did you chase me in the first place?”
He chuckled at that. “I thought it would be easy. Your stubbornness though made it fun. I wanted to catch you for a different reason after a couple encounters.”
Your cheeks flushed at that and you rolled your eyes before taking the initiative to grab his hand. The teasing glint in your eye was evident as you leaned a bit forward, making the smile fall from his face in surprise at your proximity.
“So… What you’re saying is… The mouse won over the cat?” At your words, his eyes glanced away from you, the corner of his lips twitching slightly.
“You could say that. But about that dinner-”
“I’ll go. On two conditions.” He looked at you and raised an eyebrow.
“Oh? Enlighten me.”
You held one finger up, “I get to go change,” then the other finger went up, “and your treat.”
“So demanding.” He chuckled and nodded regardless of his words. “I should warn you, if you don’t meet with me-”
“The cat will go after his mouse. I’m aware.” The warmth that spread through you at his smile was something that you would cherish. What an odd man. But how could you complain?
