"Portland trio Modern Kin is still a new band, playing their first shows barely a year ago, and landing a spot on Willamette Week‘s Best New Band poll last month. But the band’s members — guitarist and singer Drew Grow, bassist Kris Doty, and drummer Jeremiah Hayden — had played together since 2007 in Drew Grow & The Pastors Wives before deciding to start a new group with a new sound.
