After Opel Bastards had played their gig at Optimo, The Sub Club.
Once again, it's time for the Wednesday Finn Classic!
In the last post I mentioned Tuomo Puranen and Timo Kaukolampi, who nowadays play in K-X-P but used to play in a group called Op:l Bastards.
This electronic group also had a member called Vilunki 3000 (a.k.a. Mikko Viljakainen) and the three of them founded the band in 1996.
They created some of the most memorable underground hits of electronic Finland, and the tune called Scorpius (2000) is probably the best known (if you can say that about an underground hit).
Op:l Bastards was first called Opel Bastards, but the German car maker with the same name didn't like their brand being used in this way so the trio changed their own name slightly to avoid trouble. In 2002 they disbanded after a dispute with their record label Cool Globe Agency.
They made a comeback at the Helsinki Flow festival in 2007 and released their second album II two years later.
