The Luna Veilweavers (or just “Lunari” for short) are one of the oldest surviving elf enclaves in the Eastern Caverns — a small, tight-knit group that has called the glowing Radiant Grove home for longer than humans have walked Slugterra. Because elves live for centuries, the tribe never grew large; instead they poured everything into depth. Their entire culture revolves around slug-song — layered, wordless harmonies that let them feel the emotional pulse of the caverns themselves.

Rituals were quiet and communal: multi-day “Veilweavings” where the whole tribe would sing in shifting rounds, their voices (and the faint natural shimmer of their skin) syncing with the local slugs until the entire grove glowed in unison. Children learned the songs before they could walk. Elders like Taliha’s grandmother still remember the time before the Emperor, when the Lunari were simply left alone — reclusive guardians of the ecosystem rather than warriors.

That changed when the Emperor learned of their gift. His scouts (including a certain high-ranking enforcer named Junjie) reported a “weapon that could command slugs without blasters.” One night the Emperor's forces swept through the groves. The raid was swift and brutal. Most of the adults were killed defending the song-crystal archives, and the survivors scattered into deeper caverns.

Taliha — still in her first century and already a prodigy — was taken alive as the ultimate trophy. The red ribbon was bound around her throat on the spot, its enchantment woven from stolen Lunari cloth so it would silence not just her voice but the very vibrations of her song.
