Open Panel Episode Three: The Bosses Said She Can’t Have Nipples
Did you think this was a game? This episode gets serious fast, as we discuss writing morality and the many many many (many) pitfalls that can catch out creators if we don’t think our stories through.
This episode hosted by Cami Woodruff of Doomsday, My Dear, with guests Miri Chamberlain (Riverside Extras), and G.C. Houle (Three’s Company).
Highlights:
Do creators have a responsibility to promote good morals?
Normalising cannibalism (Amy's fate revealed)
How do you define a 'good' or 'bad' person?
Cami says: Think! Think, think, think, and then go back and think.
Why are we so okay with violence?
What do your protagonist’s morals say about your world?
Remember, it's okay to fuck up!

Open Panel Episode Two: I Don’t THINK it’s Illegal...
Time to get technical. We break down the process of taking a comic page from your head to the web -- from planning your story right through to setting up a site, with only mild larceny and a can-do attitude.
This episode hosted by G.C. Houle of H&J, with guests Amy King (The Muse Mentor) and Rosa Lee Marnie (Mythos).
Highlights:
What does a creator’s process look like?
Rosa endorses a life of crime
Hand lettering: how and why? No really. how? why??
Amy sez: throw money at your problems
Passive-aggressive vaguecasting about wordpress plugins
How do you find an audience? Tell people about your comic, dingus!

LISTEN UP!
Are you a lonely artist?
Stuck at the drawing board all day?
Longing for the simple sound of a human voice?
Five hot cartoonists are dying to talk to you!
That’s right! Countershot Press is launching a podcast, made by comic creators for comic creators (and anyone else who wants to listen in).
Open Panel is about the life of the small press cartoonist in the 21st century. How do you find an audience in today’s crowded market? Who knows anything about website maintenance? Is it okay to write about bad people? How much worldbuilding is too much? What should a webcomic look like? What happens when twitter turns on you? Seriously, does anyone know how to code a site?
Every episode we tackle questions like these in open conversation (perhaps sometimes a little too open). We share our experiences and try to get to the bottom of some of the tougher questions facing online creators right now. From the technical to the ethical, we open the floor and talk it out. We also bring you recommendations on comics, books, podcasts, movies and more, in case just 3-5 people’s viewpoints weren’t enough.
Sometimes we disagree, and that’s okay. Sometimes we sing songs, and that’s less okay. Keep your ears open and follow countershotpress for updates.
Open Panel: coming very soon
