Living high and grand as the only child to the Bulstrode family, Valeria has only ever known of the finer things in life. A perfect mixture of Antonella Asperanza and Reginald Bulstrode, she is the apple of her parents’ eyes. From the beginning, both had been heavily involved in the raising of Valeria, her mother refused the help of nannies or house elves, instead making it her full time job to raise her daughter properly. She insisted on a hands-on approach when caring for her daughter, one that she pushed on Reginald as well when he wasn’t in office at the Ministry of Magic. A representative for the Department of International Magical Cooperation, it was a business trip to Columbia that led Reginald to falling in love with his wife. Valeria has heard the story many times about how her father’s short visit quickly turned into a month when he first ran into Antonella and had their whirlwind of a romance. And despite it being years down the line, the love between the two has never simmered. To many children, it’s embarrassing to see your parents’ displays of affection for each other but to Valeria it’s the reminder that she’s lucky to be blessed with a mother and father who are still madly in love.

Valeria was well aware that her birth was the reason her parents decided to relocate from Columbia to England, wanting to be closer to her father’s family and the countryside to raise her properly. Her mother found it easy to assimilate into the circle of Pure-Blood wives, despite being from another country, and when Valeria reached the age of seven she began attending events with Antonella to learn the ins and outs of high society. While her mother was her guiding light to society life, Reginald had taken on the role of teaching the importance of blood and the Bulstrode name. When he wasn’t away working at the Ministry, his free time would be used ushering Valeria away into his study to lecture her about the significance of being a Pure-Blood in a Sacred Twenty Eight family. It was her duty to befriend those children who believed as they did, turn her nose up at those who were beneath her, and ensure that their future remained pure. And the young witch took that information to heart as she prepared to head off to Hogwarts, though things were made rather easy as she was sorted into Slytherin, a house known for its blood purity.

Even as she took a seat at the house of silver and green, Valeria had known of a few individuals who would be a good start to her circle thanks to society life. NARCISSA BLACK [close friend], youngest daughter of the notorious Black family, had been first on the list but it seemed that Narcissa had been on the same mission and quickly welcomed her into her group. Through Narcissa, Valeria had made the acquaintance of ELEANOR YAXLEY [close friend], ROSALINE DAVIS [close friend], KLAUDIE BURKE [close friend] and ZARINA ZABINI [close frriend] all girls had come from proper families and Valeria knew her relationships to them would be beneficial. As with any group of girls, the drama was never far behind. Valeria would often turn a blind eye to the pettiness of her friends towards the other girls in their year they considered a ‘rival’. Instead she focused on school and while she knew her parents would be happy with whatever grades she achieved, Valeria made sure to study extra hard for all her classes though she found a special love for Herbology. She had a natural green thumb and as the years went on, she began finding solace in the greenhouses, nose buried in whatever new Herbology book she could find.

It was the revelation of her natural skill that led her to gaining the acquaintance of EVANDER HIGGS [friend/potential love interest]. A boy who lurked behind classes to ensure the plants were taken care of or arriving early to get a jumpstart on their classwork, his devotion and attention to the plants is what caught Valeria’s eye and she became fortunate enough to be partnered with him for a project in their seventh year. Knowing that Evander was not the type of person her parents would want her to be associated with, the Slytherin witch kept the conversations limited but over time he wore her down and she found him to be a wonderful conversationalist. As the year went on, their friendship grew stronger as they began to meet up outside of classroom hours, with Evander promising to keep in touch even after they graduated. But deep down Valeria knew it wasn’t going to be that easy, she was an heiress to one of the more important wizarding families and after graduation she knew Antonella would begin the search for a proper husband. Her love of herbology and her friendship with Evander would be a thing of the past if her parents had anything to do with it.

As graduation came and went, Valeria was thrown right into debut season and she struggled to find potential in many of the suitors. She believed it was because she couldn’t get Evander out of her head, the many letters he had sent her hidden away in her room away from the parents that may disapprove. But she pushed those thoughts aside and did her best to work with her parents in finding a suitable match, wondering if she would ever find that person like they did. Many of her relatives on the Bulstrode side of her family had found their matches through importance and who would be best to help them rise above others whereas her mother’s side of the family was big on finding your soulmate. It was after the second season failed to produce a good match that Valeria confided in her mother about her thoughts and fears, Antonella was torn wanting to support her daughter in finding true love but knowing Reginald had been getting tougher on them to keep up the proper appearances. But a solution soon appeared in the form of CRISTIANO PARKINSON [potential love interest], a wizard who Valeria knew of from his relationship with Klaudie and who Antonella knew would make a good addition to the family image.

Christiano was a part of a growing force of individuals that, unbeknownst to Antonella and Valeria, Reginald had taken it upon himself to investigate. The whispering of his mates led him to the discovery of the infamous DARK LORD [leader] and chose to align his family with him. Val knew that the creation of an agreement between the Parkinsons and Valeria was a chance her father just couldn’t pass up, something about making them look good in the eyes of this powerful Dark Lord. She was unsure about such a force, being a soldier herself was a different path than she imagined she’d find herself on, but with the knowledge that Christiano was amongst the group as well, she found the strength to join. The surprises have kept coming though as her father has let it slip he’s been putting in a good word about her natural Herbology talent and he’s hopeful that the Dark Lord will want to use that talent to his advantage. Word on the street is that SEVERUS SNAPE [acquaintance] may need assistance with the potions he’s creating for the Death Eaters, as someone with a natural green thumb she might just be the perfect person to help him out.

The scent of expensive perfume and the light girlish laugh that echoes through a ballroom as champagne glasses clink, Druella Black is a glittering jewel in the crown of the Black family tree and one of their finest additions. The daughter of former wizengamot judge HUGO ROSIER and socialite ODILIA LA TREMOILLE, Druella was raised in the lap of luxury in the South of France, every inch a fairytale princess and her mother’s most treasured possession. The La Tremoille family valued appearance above all else, known for throwing lavish balls where enchanted champagne fountains flowed. Outward projection of wealth, happiness and elegance was of utmost importance in her home and as soon as Druella was old enough to balance a book on her head she was put through rigorous training to become a valued member of the La Tremoille dynasty. An only child until she was five, Druella was very much her mother’s daughter, with slight interactions from her father that would stick in her memory as she began to raise her own children. Hugo and his wife were incredibly different people, her father more focused on family and true happiness rather than performing for the society they found themselves in. He had married for love as well as convention, though Druella had often suspected that Odilia saw their family as little treasures inside her jewellery box rather than people she should love and nurture. 

Hugo enjoyed playing with Druella, making her laugh in an unladylike manner and encouraging her to consider what she liked rather than felt she had to do. It was because of this, Odilia became the main figure in Druella’s life, particularly after her younger brother AXEL was born. The two children had very different upbringings though they were raised in the same household. Druella took tea in the parlour and took trips to Wizarding Paris with her mother to explore boutiques and be fitted for gowns and bonnets, whilst Axel predominantly stayed in Lyon, exploring their grounds and reading the books and maps in their father’s library where his thirst for knowledge was nurtured. By the time Druella began attending Beauxbatons the pair could not be more different, Axel was her wild younger brother and she was a dainty swan set to swim in the lake of pompery amongst the French upper classes. Attending school was a breeze for someone like Druella, though she was not a veela she was just as beautiful and that beauty unlocked many doors for her that would remain closed for most. She was a dainty doll that people felt compelled to take care of, but underneath her beauty was a mind always working, considering each decision and step like she was dancing a waltz that her life depended on. Friends were carefully curated and relationships grew mostly out of convenience and convention rather than fondness.

A subdued blonde, Druella enjoyed her position as the most underestimated person in the room, left to her own devices to curate her own happiness whilst their eyes were trained on her beautiful dresses and mesmerizing blue gaze. When Druella joined society post Beauxbatons she was the jewel of the season and the most sought after debutant in Paris. On the arm of her brother, she would enter rooms and listen to the silence with as much pleasure as if she were hearing a string quartet. Each weekend she would open Le Sorcier Du Dimanche and read of her triumph at balls and the speculation as to who she would finally marry. Her whole life had been cantered around that question, but Druella enjoyed the thrill of the chase and the attention she garnered. Druella Rosier knew she was the best and would only give her hand to the man who deserved it. CYGNUS BLACK was a few years younger than Druella, but from the moment he took her hand to dance it was love at first sight. An English gentleman, he pursued her quite ruthlessly with the vigor and passion veiled with British charm that the Black family were known for. The day Druella Rosier became Druella Black was the event of the decade, with enchanted bottles of champagne popping as she walked down the aisle and doves released as they kissed. Cygnus was the younger brother of the Black family, but the pair had enough money that lesser inheritance on his part was not an issue.

After a number of years living between Paris and London, drinking in lavish bars and attending parties, Druella was whisked away to Cygnus’ family home of Brideswater Manor in Hertfordshire to begin growing their family. An image conscious woman, Druella wanted her youth to be filled with beauty and splendour, though she had always had dreams of becoming a mother and raising her three daughters filled her heart with more happiness than she could have ever imagined. BELLATRIX came first, her face determined and her hair as black as night. ANDROMEDA came next, subdued just like Druella but an academic like her father, then NARCISSA, her blonde hair blonde and eyes an icy blue. Druella loved them all equally, her shimmering jewels she stroked and kissed each night before bed, but with Narcissa she shared a specifically deeper bond. As their girls grew older, Druella and Cygnus would watch them and speak about their differences, Narcissa would be their debutant, their image conscious darling whose name would be known throughout the Wizarding World for her beauty. In a house filled with strong minds, Druella sought comfort in her youngest daughter who resisted the least to a life of pretty dresses and parties any woman in The Sacred Twenty-Eight was destined and excited for. Raising three daughters is difficult for any parent, but even the most able of parents would have struggled with Bellatrix. 

Although she accepted her place in society, like Druella’s brother Axel she detested rubbing shoulders with people not like them and fought her at every turn as she pulled her hair into beautiful ribbons and attempted to make her into a lady. It was perhaps due to the similarities between Bellatrix and Druella’s brother, the two were not as close as Druella had first imagined. Nevertheless she persisted with all three of her children, taking books away from Andromeda and applying lipstick to Bellatrix’s pursed lips whilst Narcissa watched with a smug smile. Druella had a clear image in her head for the way her daughter’s lives would pan out. They’d each be happily married by twenty-five or at the very least thirty, with their own homes and later children, hosting balls and clinking crystal glasses. When Cygnus had encouraged Bellatrix to travel and Andromeda to pursue a legal career, Druella was most distressed but had agreed due to the love she had for her children, though she insisted they return home each summer and take her wishes seriously of them marrying well and continuing their lineage. THE DARK LORD was a spanner in Druella’s plans she could not have accounted for, nor the scheming and meddling of her sister-in-law WALBURGA and how much her husband would place the pursuit of power above the safety of their children. Druella saw value in the new world he was creating and pledged her allegiance alongside the rest of her family, though she did so with narrowed cerulean eyes. 

Walburga maintained that Bellatrix having such proximity to The Dark Lord was an honour for their family and would enable better prospects for all their children. Outwardly she nodded and smiled, though privately she worried and watched silently as her niece and nephew ALEXANDRA and EVAN joined her daughter, waiting for the moment Andromeda and Narcissa would be next. It was their admittance into The Dark Lord’s movement that spurred Druella on to become a better aunt to her late brother’s children. Though Druella and Axel had never been close, she had loved her brother dearly and was saddened by his passing. With their mother absent, a matter which was taken care of thankfully by Cygnus to which she wanted limited knowledge of, Druella saw herself somewhat of a pseudo mother to the pair, making a concerted effort to ensure their happiness. Used to raising difficult women, Alexandra was something of a dream to Druella, a true beauty who knew her own mind and how to work a room which Druella admired greatly. With the season approaching, Druella is choosing to ignore the scheming and drama of her family to focus on her own pursuits. Though she is aware the season will end with a bang, Druella is committed to the idea that nothing will spoil this time of the year for her and that at least one of her family, hopefully her daughters, will receive a proposal before the magnolias begin to wilt and save her the embarrassment of another year with three single children.

You can be an open witch and still maintain privacy

I consider myself very open about my craft and my beliefs and I identify as a witch. But, I often don’t introduce myself as a witch until I really know someone. It used to make me feel ashamed, I love to talk about my craft and my spirituality but I never felt comfortable talking about it with strangers or acquaintances. I felt like I was a fraud, I preached openness and sharing and educating others but clammed up at the thought of sharing my beliefs with coworkers or classmates. You can be both. You can be open about witchcraft but you shouldn’t feel pressured to Educate every passerby about your spiritual path. You don’t owe anyone an explanation of your beliefs. Sometimes it’s because people can hold negative feelings against it or it just feels awkward talking about it. You should never feel obligated to disclose your religious stance. I love to share my beliefs and educate people but sometimes I fight the urge to roll my eyes when someone asks about my pentagram necklace.

The Mikaelson’s were born in much simpler times, life should’ve been easy and yet it had never been the case for Finn’s brother Niklaus who Mikael seemed to endlessly choose as the child who would receive the brunt of his abuse though the eldest of the Mikaelson’s often found himself searching for his mother’s attention at every turn, in hopes of seeing some glimmer of the life they’d had before Freya had been taken; it was the only reason he stayed so silent about the matter, hoping endlessly that as each sibling was born Mikael would return to being the loving father Finn had known or at the very least seen.

But things could never be so easy. On the full moon much like the rest of his siblings, Finn would come to discover that Niklaus and Henrik had snuck away to watch the wolves transform…the cost being Henrik’s life. This caused Esther to seek out a way to protect all of her children and in her grief she agreed to the spell Ayana produced. So Finn-as always-did as his mother wished but it seemed to come at a cost. Their new immortal sense of being made it clear that Niklaus was in fact the result of an affair with one of the wolves and Mikael in his anger killed them all, forcing Esther to binde what Klaus was but that did not mean the hunger they all had did not make it clear of the mistake Esther had made in changing them all.

Klaus murdered Esther, blaming it on Mikael which was something all of the siblings would come to discover later but they ran believing Mikael would destroy all of them should he ever catch up to them. Immortality never sat well with the eldest sibling, he found himself hating what he’d become so much so, that when they came across the brotherhood and lay daggered he remained so for nine centuries; Klaus & Elijah both convinced his self loathing was as dangerous as Kol’s recklessness. And when he did find himself free, he was to be killed as no more than proof that the white oak stake worked.

Present:

Finn has returned by the decree of the ancestors, not too unlike his younger brother Kol. In the body of the powerful witch Vincent Griffith who found himself the unlikely victim to magic that took over his wife and ended in taking the life of their child.

Nothing is completely clear in why the ancestors have brought Finn back but one thing is certain, he won’t be revealing who he is any time soon and Kol…well someone needs to keep an eye on the wily fox.

Connections:

The Mikaelsons: While they all grew up together Finn never felt close to his siblings, often times missing the older sister that had been taken from him when he was a young boy but when they were human he loved them. Centuries in a box changed that; family don’t do that to each other and he now remains tormented because of them. He plans to stay far away from them…at least until plans have been set in motion.

French Quarter Witches: All Finn has revealed to them is that he has returned via the ancestors and that the ancestors demand the Harvest be completed, he plans to take leadership of the coven knowing that they’d make powerful allies when it comes down to it.

Bonnie Bennett: The witch has always been intriguing to the eldest Mikaelson, while her friends did play a hand in his death he could certainly see the benefits of having her on his side being how she managed to subdue his brother Niklaus years back.

A beautiful young witch with a healing heart, Mina Shafiq is in part defined by her epic love story that sadly ended in sorrow. Born in Bloomsbury to travel authors ISABELLA WESTWOOD and ABDULLAH SHARIF, Mina was raised in a privileged environment between her family townhouse in London and beautiful hotels around the globe. Mina’s early years were filled with adventure, visiting the beautiful jungles of India and the ruins and misty mountains of her father’s native country of Saudi Arabia. It was likely a result of her upbringing that Mina had a curious nature. Always looking to see what was round the corner and planning for her next adventure, Mina liked to live her life in the moment and never wanted the high of a new discovery to end. Sitting on their campsites or in luxurious hotels, Mina would be surrounded by maps and travel guides, prepared to list the history of the animals they would see on their visits and checking each one off in her copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them which she clutched closely to her chest on all her various adventures. By the time Mina was ready to attend school she had seen over a third of the globe, so Hogwarts didn’t quite have the effect on her that it had on other children. Mina was excited by the great outdoors and plants and magical creatures she could only read about in books. The hippogriffs and mandrake roots who had a home at Hogwarts were not different nor interesting to Mina and so she spent the majority of her time at school dreaming of far off places she longed to see. 

Mina’s zest for life and dreamy personality quickly attracted a close friendship with PRIMROSE HOOKUM, who longed to get away from Hogwarts and begin her own fashion line. In the cold common room in the Ravenclaw Tower, Primrose and Mina would whisper long into the night about their dreams and ambitions, Primrose’s nose in a fashion magazine and Mina’s in a book of maps covered in doodles and notes which detailed where she longed to go after she finished school. Long nights spent giggling and plotting soon attracted the action of other Ravenclaw students, the two girls striking a friendship with ALBERT JORKINS and who often sought the company of books over people and was happy to sit on the velvet sofas snuggled in a blanket reading a copy of Virginia Woolf. Whilst Mina had explored a great deal of the magical world, she had seen virtually none of the Muggle one, her scrapbooks were filled with photographs of giant magical waterfalls and ancient castles in thick jungles lost to Muggles- but cities like Paris, Budapest and Hong Kong were a mystery to Mina she longed to explore.Her parents encouraged Mina to follow her heart and fill in the gaps in her knowledge of the world and unlike most parents with standing in Wizarding Society were not pushing Mina to find love or draw up contracts, she was young and ambitious and they wanted her to see the world before she settled down. 

After exploring Europe and The British Isles, at twenty, Mina packed a suitcase and made the long voyage to The Middle East, longing to better explore a part of the world she knew relatively well, ticking off places on her bucket list she had never been before. Map in hand and notebook in her pocket, Mina was exploring the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, in search of the coniferous forest which thrived within the area. Mina had been walking for some time when she finally stopped to ask for directions and RAYAN SHAFIQ was more than happy to help her. A fellow British wizard, Mina was surprised to see him in such a remote part of the region, until he revealed his extended family lived close by who he had been visiting for the summer. As they walked side by side, Mina did most of the talking, ready to tell Rayan about her ideas to travel the world and write and create. Aside from London and Pakistan, Rayan hadn’t travelled much. His family were a member of The Sacred Twenty-Eight and were focused more on him marrying well ready to take over the estate which his elder brother had no interest in. Mina wasn’t sure of the exact moment she fell in love with Rayan, but by the time she had reached Jahaz Banda, she had realised she was more engrossed in their meeting than she had been with the beautiful meadow and mountains she had come to explore. 

For the rest of her time in Pakistan, Rayan was by her side. A writer of poetry, as Mina would take photographs and write about the things she saw, unbeknownst to Mina, Rayan was writing about her. Pouring his heart out in prose as he fell in love with Mina as they swam in beautiful lakes and danced in the moonlight. Before they left Pakistan the two were married in the Hunza Valley in a small ceremony where they declared their love for one another and explored the rest of The Middle East as man and wife. When the pair returned back to London a year later, both Mina’s parents and Rayan’s were outraged the pair had gotten married. Mina’s parents believed she was too young to have married someone like Rayan and not know what would be expected of her, whilst Rayan’s had wanted more for the future heir of their family than a witch who didn’t want to settle down and play ball. The Shafiq family were far more traditional and lavish than Mina’s, with his mother holding a seat in the Pura Sorores Society which she had designs on Mina joining. Not wanting to sacrifice her dreams, she and Rayan made the joint decision to leave London and continue travelling, much to the anger of their parents. The pair lived a happy life, seeing the world and making memories until just under three months ago. As they were exploring South America, Rayan suddenly became unwell and was admitted to hospital. Much to Mina’s horror and despair Rayan died three days later, the cause of which was determined as Scrofungulus Disease. 

Mina was heartbroken. Until she had met Rayan, Mina hadn’t much thought about love or longed for romance but something about the death of Rayan had broken Mina. Lying in her bed in Brazil alone she stayed, surrounded by the poems he had written about her and kept to himself all those years before and wondered if she would ever be truly happy again. Mina was very prepared to stay like that, alone in their little studio apartment in Rio De Janeiro where she’d sit in her red wedding gown and read the poems until she felt tired enough to sleep. Mina was only thirty years old when her husband passed away and ZAHRA SHARIF and Mina’s parents were not about to let their daughter slip away from them when she needed them most.Packing up her things, Mina returned to London and bore the awkwardness of seeing her husband’s family. His parents were unkind to her, but Mina knew from the poems he had written that he had silently longed for them to be closer. Only his twin sister SHAHLYLA SHAFIQ was kind to her, aiming each day to pull her sister-in-law up out of bed with Zahra and try to find a new ray of light in the world that made the beginning the day anywhere other than her bed in Bloomsbury worth it. The battering from her husband’s family didn’t help matters. LARA SHAFIQ was her biggest critic. firmly believing that Mina had not been good enough for her brother, blaming her for taking him away and his death. 

Lost with how to make amends with them, Mina joined the ranks of the other Shafiq women and accepted a position in the Pura Sorores Society helping to plan the upcoming season of parties and balls. Mina had little interest in forcing people into marriage or deciding on the right shade of blue for floral arrangements, but had gotten good at feigning interest with Shahlyla by her side who created enough melodrama for her mother and sister to play with on purpose to leave Mina alone. Getting over the loss of Rayan was hard and she was grateful to have family by her side. It would take a long time for her to put the pieces of herself back together again, but Mina knew she was strong and was prepared to live life to the full for the pair of them. Day to day life had been becoming easier until Shahlyla arrived home one day to a poem on her doorstep. Written in Rayan’s hand, seeing a new poem dragged up a lot of old pain for Mina, though the departure from his usual beautiful prose caught their attention. It was a much darker poem than she’d read of his before, shrouded in death and mystery that alluded to something greater than himself. For now Mina tells herself that she has misunderstood the meaning, that her husband died of an illness she couldn’t have foreseen... but something in the words seem as though Rayan knew death was coming, giving new light and new pain to Mina’s life she isn’t sure she can bear.

Growing up in an orphanage CARMELLA DIGBY quickly learnt how to use her good looks for her own benefit. The other children and careers at the orphanage would flock to Carmella like a moth to a flame, and Carmella quickly realised how to use it to her advantage. Leaving the orphanage as a beautiful dark-haired young woman it wasn't long until she caught the eyes of FAI SONG, a rich wizard on business from China. Being introduced to the wizarding world was like having all of her dreams come true for Carmella, and living in the lap of luxury with Fai’s family money was nothing to be ignored either. Knowing an excellent opportunity when she saw one Carmella made quick of an engagement and marriage with Fai, the man was so swept up in the romance of it all he thought it was actually his own idea. Giving birth to Constance was the first time Carmella had felt true love and she doted on the girl because of it. Constance grew up wanting for nothing, her parents loved her dearly and gave her all she needed. It didn't however do the same thing it may have done to other children, where others may have become spoiled and expectant Constance remained hard-working and driven to prove herself, whether it be to master the alphabet correctly or to find the perfect hiding place for hide and seek. Constance’s life however was somewhat changed when her father passed away when she was four from a freak splinching accident. 

Now exceedingly rich beyond her belief Carmella decided to try her hand at marrying for love rather than advantage and once again caught a man as quickly as she could think it through her intriguing looks and luring aura. Falling for the sweet eyes and gentle smile of RICHARD DIGBY Carmella quickly married and had another daughter. Loving this child the same way she had loved Constance had a different effect on ELENA DIGBY. She became spoiled with love and demanded the attention of anyone in the room, speaking louder, laughing harder or gesticulating more dramatically than any that would dare to steal the spotlight. Constance allowed this of her sister, stepping back into the shadows and allowed the girl to get the attention she so clearly thrived off knowing full well that she would just have to stand and speak quietly to gain the attention back. That was how it went, there was no denying both girls were beautiful and intriguing, their mothers veela blood could account for that, but there was something more with Constance. The way she carried herself, how the words she spoke were so quiet and soft, yet the meaning behind them was always so truthful it was almost cutting. Constance thrived in an environment where she could pick and choose when, where and how she got attention, if she didn't want her mothers scrutiny she would simply disappear into the shadows with a good book and appear again when she was ready. 

Leaving for school Constance was pleased to leave the self-imposed shadow of her sister but was also well aware that she needed to cultivate relationships with people like Elena in order to continue being able to pick and choose when she wanted to deal with other people and when she didn't. Sorted into Ravenclaw she made friends with girls very much like her MAFALDA HOPKIRK and DAISY HOOKUM. Both studious girls were perfect for library studying sessions, borrowing class notes and chill nights talking and reading in their dorm. Being friends with the pair made Constance step out of her shell a bit, being more vocal she got a reputation for being quite blunt when people annoyed her. Over the years she would constantly ‘speak out of turn’ as others called it and had formed a very strong sense of what was right and what was wrong. One day in third year she was sticking up for a particularly pathetic first year who had been dangled by his ankles in the hallway when another joined in her argument. LAUREL LINWOOD was described as outspoken too, the Gryffindor was unafraid of rustling a few feathers and from that day the girls were inseparable, combing the castle floors for injustices to pick at. Laurel started most of the arguments and Constance finished them with a sharp and detailed final blow that left most opponents stuttering. 

Through Laurel she was introduced to JENNIFER VANE, KEIRA GREY, NATAN DIGGORY, ARTHUR WEASLEY and TRYSTAN WARRINGTON, and others who comprised a gaggle of Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs that brought a funner side to Constance's group of Ravenclaws. Putting down their books they swapped study sessions and early nights for being out after curfew, late nights in the room of requirement and sneaking into the kitchens to get snacks for the evening ahead. Although Constance still kept her grades up being one of the top students of her year she found a new side of her personality, her new friends brought a more relaxed and open side to her. Becoming increasingly more confident through the help of her friends Constance and Laurel became even more ballsy, the people they picked to make a show of going from random bullies to students like LUCIUS MALFOY. A constant thorn in the pair's sides Lucius spent much of his time at school throwing around his Pure-Blood ideals and the two girls would spendjust as much of their time going around and proving him wrong. Popular to the many but hated by the few Constance and her group of friends got invited to most parties that Hogwarts offered, at least one of their group knowing the hosts well enough to gain an invite for all. A party that stuck in Constance’s memory as life changing was their Graduation night, the last night all her year group would be together Constance had probably a bit too much to drink. Another who had had too much to drink was Mafalda, the pair were giggling and dancing together when all of a sudden Mafalda leaned in to kiss her.

Being the silent and reserved girl she was, it did not allow for much romance. Constance spent the majority of her final years of Hogwarts holding a candle to Trystan, a boy with a hero complex bigger than her own she silently admired him. Never had she admired Mafalda however, but the months after the graduation party Constance came to a realisation. She had grown up so sure of herself, thinking she knew everything there was to know about herself and so the kiss led her to feel confused and vulnerable for the first time. Spending time after Hogwarts figuring it out she met MILA BELINSKY, a beautiful blonde she entangled herself with to come to the realisation that she was bisexual. It would seem that meeting Mila was not only meant to advance her love life but also her work life too. Working as an escort for Fair Farbaults Mila persuaded Constance to join the team. Joining with the same intentions of her mother, to marry first for advantage and then again for love she joined in the hopes of finding a husband. One man using the escort service who is especially susceptible to Constance’s charms is CHARLIE MONTAGUE, a rich Pure-Blood elitist just missing the cut for the twenty-eight, he has enough money to make Constance happy and then some. A fault in her plan comes in the form of SEBASTIEN FONTAINE, a fellow escort who has drawn her attention away from finding a rich husband and to the competition they hold between them. Both silent and still the pair are vying it out for top dog, seeing who can bring in the most money to the establishment. 

Without realising and being distracted by their banter and harsh tones Constance has found an attraction for Sebastien, not that would ever admit it to herself let alone him. Living with her sister in a house in Kensington the girls have gotten closer than they ever were in childhood. Constance has come out of her shell over the years and through her own Hogwarts experience Elena has learnt to share the limelight. Spending many evenings out together Constance has introduced her sister to her friends from work GEORGINE FARIBAULT, CORALINE HEATHER, DAHLIA BLACKWOOD and her son STEFAN BLACKWOOD. A collection of veela’s and vampires they attract a lot of attention from the other patrons in the bars they visit. Not only does Constance love letting loose on these nights she also uses it as a way of getting new clients in, all adding to her hopeful win against Sebastien. Living with Elena she has noticed some strange behaviour, leaving the house at odd times, hushed conversations and having people she shouldn't really know that well come to call on her. Always on the hunt for knowledge her curiosity has gotten the best of her and recently she has found herself spying on her own sister. She has seen her go to a pub in Diagon alley a lot by the name of ‘the fountain of fair fortune’ and heard the words ‘the order’ whispered a lot when her sister is having floo calls behind doors that were not well enough warded. Scared her sister has gotten herself into something that she doesn't know the extent of Constance will not stop until she knows what has taken over Elena.

Betty Braithwaite would remember her childhood fondly. It was simple yet the love between her parents and herself was bountiful. She couldn’t recall her early years, just flashes of her mother’s smile and her father’s glasses as they played with her. JACQUELINE and NICHOLAS BRAITHWAITE were both Muggle university professors. Jacqueline would teach english literature whilst Nicholas had his doctorate in ancient cultural studies and anthropology. Despite their busy schedules, they consistently made time for Betty, who grew up in their small apartment in Oxford. Betty had a curious mind, she learnt to read early just so that she could flip through the pages of her mother’s books and read the captions to the beautiful graphics in her father’s research. Homeschooled by both her parents, she developed a passion for literature and history. It was only when Nicholas returned home to Betty sitting on the living room floor with books floating around her that her father realised that she was not ‘normal’. Nicholas knew exactly what was going on as he’d witnessed such things before. Whilst Betty’s father was a Muggle, his brother, GABRIEL BRAITHWAITE, had been born a wizard. Nicholas had known about the wizarding world since childhood but had chosen to bury the memories deep. What should have brought the Braithwaite brother’s closer, only drove a deeper wedge between them as Nicholas remembered the jealousy towards his brother and feared that Betty might one day choose her uncle over her own parents.

And so the secrecy in the Braithwaite household began, Nicholas hiding it from not only Betty, but Jacqueline as well. If anything strange occurred, Betty’s father would try his hardest to blame it on a natural phenomenon or simply pretend as if nothing had happened. He refused for his beloved daughter to be swallowed by a magical world that had done the same to his brother. Betty hardly noticed. She just lived the life that she assumed every other child was living too. She didn’t have many friends whilst growing up in Oxford but then again, she did. Her friends were the knights and princesses, the dragons and donkeys, all things big and small that were in her stories. It didn’t take long before Betty craved more, desired more and eventually she began to write her own stories which were sequels to the books she had already read. As she grew older, Betty became a girl of honesty and wisdom. Her moral compass had been nurtured by fairy tales allowing her to know between what was right, what was wrong and what was grey. It was at this time that her first letter to Hogwarts arrived. Nicholas immediately disposed of it in the fireplace but before long, new letters seemed to appear everywhere and whilst Nicholas tried his best to keep them from Betty, it wasn’t long until she noticed something was up and that her father was lying to her. Almost like a feeling in her bones, she waited one night by the window only for an owl to appear and deliver the letter in her hands. Betty could not believe her eyes as she read the letter, yet something inside her knew that it was not a prank or false. Betty Braithwaite was a witch, just like in her story books.

After confronting her father about it, she discovered that he had known all along and had kept a whole part of her life from Betty. Upset, she reached out to her uncle, asking if he’d take her to Diagon Alley for the supplies she needed to start her schooling career at Hogwarts. Whilst her relationship with her father was strained, she forgave him and still loved her parents dearly, promising to come back every term holiday. The following day she had been whisked away to a magical alley with so many curiosities she could barely contain herself. It was during this trip that she met her cousin, ZYRELL BRAITHWAITE, who was twenty-one at the time and had finished his own Hogwarts career. The three of them sat down at an ice-cream parlour and spoke for hours about Hogwarts and the wizarding world. The following morning it was finally time for Betty to board the Hogwarts Express and begin her journey in self discovery. On the train Betty met the most interesting pair of twins, GIDEON and FABIAN PREWETT who were also starting their first year at Hogwarts. They were just as interested to meet a Muggle-Born but warned her that there were many on the train and at Hogwarts that would simply discriminate against her due to her blood status. During the sorting ceremony Betty was sorted into Ravenclaw and sat next to a friendly young boy named BOOKER BAGNOLD. Whilst the two of them would grow in different directions, Booker became someone that Betty held dear, someone she could always touch base with. Despite Booker’s apparent popularity, most people recognising him as HARRISON BAGNOLD’s younger brother, she knew that he was someone she could rely on.

Being in a world where magic wasn’t just myths and fairytales was overwhelming but Betty took it one day and book at a time. She read endlessly about the history of the wizarding world, Hogwarts, the Ministry of Magic and anything else she could get her hands on. Her thirst for knowledge of this new world just couldn’t be quenched. She excelled in most of her classes and studied harder for the ones she struggled in. Life at Hogwarts was fun and exciting but with every happy day she had a bad one too. The Prewett twins had been right and although Betty kept quiet about her personal life, including her blood status, it wasn’t long until she was being pushed around in the corridors or someone hexing her. This is how she met AMELIA BONES, a Hufflepuff girl who stood up for her at every chance she could. Betty appreciated the help and refused to let some stuck up students get her down. She belonged in that school just as much as anyone else did. As she studied harder to prove herself, she discovered that she was gifted with divination. Betty was specifically talented in being able to tell if someone was lying to her or withholding the whole truth. That’s how she knew her father was keeping something from her, how she knew when and where to wait for the owl with her letter and how she knew kids like WALDEN MACNAIR were just as afraid of their peers as anyone else was. Whilst Betty kept this gift to herself for most of her school career, it’s only when she became friends with RITA SKEETER, CAMILLE ROWLE and DAISY HOOKUM that she began to put it to use. Due to her writing hobbies, the four girls had decided to start the Weekly Raven, a school newspaper that centred around Quidditch matches, gossip and all things Hogwarts.

In her final year, Betty looked back at her Hogwarts career and could honestly say that she enjoyed it. She also realised that Hogwarts was just a gateway into the larger wizarding world which excited her so much. She was ready to ace her final exams and looking forward to a potential career in either investigative journalism or possibly becoming an author. It was just before the winter break when Betty found out the horrific news that her parents had been murdered. She wasn’t given much information other than it seemed as if someone had broken into their flat and murdered the two in their sleep using magic. Betty was devastated and furious that the aurors had treated it as just another killing in a string of muggle murders. From what Betty discovered, this so-called string of murders had been going on for a while and the lack of effort from the ministry was disgusting. During the winter break she stayed with her uncle and Zyrell. She had made up her mind, she was going to become an investigative journalist and expose the ministry for its corruption. She passed her N.E.W.T.s with flying colours and sent out her cv to multiple papers and magazines. Her most promising option was The Daily Prophet. About a month before she was about to start, the editor in chief, BARNABUS CUFFE sent Betty an owl saying that their current Investigative Journalism department was full, but if she was still interested in becoming part of the Daily Prophet team, they had an opening in the Arts and Entertainment department. Betty’s heart sank, but she still accepted in the hopes that having her foot in the door was better than nothing.

She packed her bags and moved into a shared house with a few other aspiring journalists including Daisy and THEODORE STEBBINS. Betty would work hard all day, trying to impress all those above her in the hopes that she may one day move up to investigative journalism. It wasn’t until EDWARD TONKS moved into their house and shared with her that he had a position in the Investigative Journalism department that she felt despondent. She had worked so hard for so many years yet here was someone, fresh out of Hogwarts, that had landed a position in the department. Regardless, the two got along well and she held her head up high. She continually attempted to send Barnabus examples of her work in the hopes that he’d one day publish them and she could start doing some meaningful work that could actually change peoples lives. After a long day at work, she would go visit The Hopping Pot and would offer to help close up. This is how she met AMIRIA MACNAIR, a young potioneer who had a lot of potential ahead of her. She recently started spending her free time with Rita, the two of them had a good connection by now and the chemistry between them was undeniable. It was through Rita that Betty discovered that one of the reasons she hadn’t been promoted was her lack of connections amongst the young wizarding elite. This prevented her from being moved upward. Betty was angry that her connections were holding her back instead of being promoted for her quality of work. She promised herself that one day she’d find a way to get published and expose the Ministry and its friends for the corruption within.
