Characters: Y/N, Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah, Kol, Finn
Description: Y/N is the youngest Mikaelson sibling, a sweet and gentle soul whose kindness has lasted through a thousand years of immortality. While her family is known as legends and feared by many, she is the one light they would do anything to protect. When someone mistakes her compassion for weakness, her family shows Mystic Falls why no one should ever cross a Mikaelson, especially their youngest sister.
The Mikaelsons were feared everywhere. Kings had fallen because of them, and whole families had vanished for crossing their path. But despite all the fearful stories, there was one Mikaelson no one expected: you, the youngest sibling, the youngest Original, and the only one who still smiled as if the world was kind.
Even after a thousand years, you still laughed at small things, admired flowers pushing through cracked sidewalks, greeted strangers with kindness, and apologized if someone bumped into you. This surprised everyone, especially given who your siblings were.
"I still don't understand how you're related to us," Kol teased one afternoon as he watched you carefully place a tiny bird back into its nest after finding it on the ground.
You pouted. "I am related to you."
"Barely."
"Kolly."
"You called me Kolly." He placed a hand over his heart dramatically. "She's trying to manipulate me."
"I'm not!"
Rebekah laughed. "She's manipulating you by existing."
Elijah smiled softly from his chair. "Our little sister has never manipulated anyone in her life."
Klaus looked over from across the room, the corner of his lips twitching upward. "No." His voice softened. "She doesn't know how."
You hated violence, unlike your siblings. You only drank from blood bags that Klaus brought you, and you cried whenever innocent people were hurt. Even after a thousand years, taking a life still made you feel sick. Sometimes your family wondered how you managed to stay gentle for so long, but you never really knew how to explain it. Maybe it was because you remembered your mother teaching you to braid wildflowers into her hair on quiet afternoons, or how Henrik used to rescue hurt animals and gently place them in your lap. Even after centuries of darkness, you held onto those memories and what they meant. Your siblings never made fun of you for it. Instead, they did everything they could to protect your kindness.
"You still need to learn to defend yourself." That had been Elijah's rule. Every morning. Training. Again. Again. Again.
You whined through every lesson. "I don't want to stab people."
"You don't stab people because you wish to." Elijah gently corrected your stance. "You stab people so they cannot stab you."
"Butâ"
"No excuses."
Klaus trained you differently. "If someone grabs your wrist?" He demonstrated. "What do you do?"
"...panic?"
He sighed dramatically. "No." He repositioned your hands. "You break their elbow."
"But that's mean."
"It's effective."
Kol was somehow worse. "You see this?" He tossed you a dagger. "If someone annoys youâ"
"Kol."
"What?"
"No."
Finn insisted on discipline. Rebekah insisted on confidence. Even Henrik, if he had lived, would have loved you. But even after a thousand years, you still looked sorry every time you won a sparring match.
Klaus never daggered you, not once. You had remained beside him through every century. When everyone else had been placed into enchanted sleep, you always stayed. Sometimes curled beside him while he painted. Sometimes reading aloud. Sometimes simply existing in comfortable silence. Once, centuries ago, you had sat with him on the balcony during a storm, tracing stars out of the tiny gaps between clouds while he filled a canvas with wild streaks of colour, just to make you laugh. He never admitted it, but you were the only thing that kept him from completely losing himself.
When Elijah finally undaggered everyone during the dinner with the Salvatores, the mansion became filled with shouting almost immediately.
"You left us in boxes!" Kol barked. "For decades!"
"Centuries," Finn corrected coldly.
Rebekah glared daggers at Klaus. "You stole our lives!"
You had barely heard any of it. Because the second their coffins opened, you burst into tears. "KOL!" You ran, actually ran, throwing yourself into your brother's arms with enough force to nearly knock him backwards.
He blinked. "...Little dove?"
"I MISSED YOU!"
Kol laughed despite himself, wrapping both arms around you. "I missed you too." You immediately let go, only to throw yourself at Rebekah.
She caught you effortlessly. "Oh, sweetheart..."
You buried your face in her shoulder. "I missed you so much."
She kissed your hair. "I know."
Finn was next. Then Elijah. You hugged each of them like you were afraid they'd disappear again. By the time you reached Klaus, he was quietly watching, almost guilty. You hugged him too. "I missed everyone..."
His hand rested carefully on your head. "I know, little wolf."
Unfortunately, the reunion didn't stay peaceful. Voices rose. Accusations flew. Centuries of resentment exploded all at once.
"You treated us like possessions!" Rebekah shouted. "You daggered us every time we disagreed with you!"
"You betrayed me!" Klaus roared back.
"I was protecting this family!"
"You call that protection?" Kol snapped.
You stood frozen between them, heart pounding and hands shaking as their voices got louder. You wanted to say something, to make them stop, but your words were lost in the noise. It felt like the room was closing in, your chest tight with worry that your family might fall apart right in front of you. "Please..." No one heard. "Stop..." The shouting continued. Tears filled your eyes. For a moment, you wished you could disappear or go back to when everyone was happy. "Please stop..." Still nothing. Quietly, you turned, ran upstairs, and closed your bedroom door before collapsing onto your bed.
An hour later, there was a gentle knock. "May I come in?" Elijah. "...Okay."
He entered to find you curled beneath blankets, face hidden. He sat beside you. "You've been crying."
You nodded. "I was so happy..." Another sniffle. "And then everyone was yelling."
Elijah sighed. "We should not have argued before you."
"I just wanted everyone together..."
He gently brushed your hair back. "I know."
"...Are they still mad?"
"They are."
Your lip trembled. "Oh."
"...But." He smiled warmly. "They are more upset that they made you cry."
You looked up. "They are?"
He nodded. "They would like to apologise."
When Elijah led you downstairs, every sibling immediately looked up.
Kol stood first. "I'm sorry, little dove."
Rebekah hugged you tightly. "We shouldn't have argued like that."
Finn bowed his head. "My apologies."
Even Klaus looked uncomfortable. "I did not intend for you to become distressed."
You wiped your eyes. "I just... I don't like everyone fighting." Silence. Then you looked directly at Klaus. "...Nik?"
"Hm?"
"Please..." Your voice cracked. "...Don't dagger them anymore." The room fell completely silent. "I missed them." You looked around at everyone. "I don't want to lose anybody again."
Klaus stared at you for several long moments. Finally, he answered. "...Very well." Everyone looked at him. "I'll... try."
Kol nearly fainted. "Did she just accomplish what we've spent centuries attempting?"
Rebekah laughed through tears. "Apparently."
Months later, everything changed. The race for the Cure had started, the hunter's mark grew more dangerous every day, Jeremy Gilbert became a vampire hunter, and Silas, the first immortal, was part of every desperate plan. Tensions between the Mikaelsons and the Mystic Falls group were higher than ever, with shifting alliances, betrayals, and the threat of real death hanging over everyone. Each sibling had their own goal: some wanted power, some wanted mortality, and some just wanted to survive. Through it all, you still hoped for peace. "They're not all bad."You smiled hopefully. "I think if we just talked-"
Kol groaned. "Sweetheart. They've literally tried to kill us."
"But maybe they're misunderstood."
Klaus looked horrified. "You are the only person alive who could describe our enemies as misunderstood."
Still, you kept trying. You smiled at Elena, talked with Caroline, brought Bonnie little gifts and asked Jeremy about school. Even Damon occasionally received a polite wave. Most of them remained suspicious. You remained optimistic. "They'll come around eventually."
Unfortunately, not everyone saw your kindness as kindness. Some saw it as a weakness. One afternoon, you received an invitation; Elena wanted to talk alone about peace.
You smiled. "They finally want to give peace a chance." You quietly slipped out of the mansion. You didn't want your siblings worrying, especially Klaus.
Unfortunately, Kol noticed. He watched you sneak through the front gates. "...That's odd." Curious, he followed, invisible and silent.
When he arrived near the Gilbert house, he froze because he heard them talking through the open window.
"We lure her inside." Jeremy nodded. "Then we use the white oak stake."
"She's the easiest target."
"She's too trusting."
Kol's expression darkened. His eyes flashed crimson.
Inside, you smiled nervously. "Hi..."
Before another word could be spoken, the front door exploded inward. "KOL?" He blurred across the room. The white oak stake barely missed your chest. His hand wrapped around your waist. "Absolutely not." Before anyone could react, he sped away with you in his arms.
You didn't stop shaking until you reached the mansion. Kol burst through the doors. "KLAUS!" Every sibling appeared instantly. Klaus saw your tear-streaked face. "What happened?"
Kol was furious. "They invited her there to murder her." Silence.
"...What?"
"They planned to use the white oak stake."
The room became terrifyingly still. Elijah's jaw clenched. Finn's hands curled into fists. Rebekah looked ready to cry. Klaus slowly turned toward you. "...Is this true?"
You nodded weakly. "I... I thought they wanted to be friends..." Your voice broke. "I didn't know..." Fresh tears spilt down your cheeks. "I was just trying to make peace..."
Rebekah rushed over first, wrapping you in a tight embrace. "Oh, sweetheart..."
"I thought they liked me..."
"They don't deserve your kindness." Elijah rested a comforting hand on your shoulder. "You did nothing wrong."
Kol was still pacing furiously. "I should have torn the entire bloody house apart."
Finn actually agreed. "They attempted to murder our youngest sibling."
Klaus hadn't moved. His expression was unreadable. Dangerously unreadable. He slowly approached before gently cupping your face. "So..." His voice was impossibly soft. "...they frightened my little sister."
You nodded. "I don't understand why..."
"You never will." He rested his forehead against yours. "Because unlike the rest of us, you still believe people are good."
You finally broke completely, burying your face against his chest. He wrapped both arms around you. "I was trying so hard..."
"I know."
"They smiled at me..."
"I know."
"I thought they wanted peace..."
"I know."
Behind you, your siblings exchanged glances. That familiar, terrifying Mikaelson look. Â Klaus stroked your hair soothingly as his eyes met Elijah's. No words were spoken; none were needed. Someone had tried to kill the youngest Mikaelson. The one member of their family who had never deserved the horrors of their world. The one heart that had somehow remained gentle after a thousand years. Their baby sister.
Everyone responsible was about to learn a lesson many enemies had learned before: the Mikaelsons could survive hate, betrayal, and war, but if anyone made their youngest sibling cry, there was nowhere in the world to hide. That night, as you lay in bed holding the stuffed animal Rebekah gave you, quiet voices echoed in the halls while your siblings started to plan. Tomorrow, lines would be drawn and debts settled. And somewhere in the shadows, you wondered if you could ever forgive those who tried to hurt you, or if the world would finally see that kindness can be just as strong as vengeance.
Synopsis: Stuck in the prison world gets awkward when Kai Parker has taken to interrogating you about your love life.
Note: Hey guys, Hope you enjoy this short little thing. I miss writing extensively but my brain is still recovering from my diss, so please enjoy these moments xxx
Warning: Mentions of readers ex cheating (but reader doesn't really care??) it's mainly Mr.Parker that gets PRESSED about it. ;)
The parking lot belongs to a grocery store that closed before you were born. The sign still burns above the entrance. Three letters are missing. The rest hum softly in the dark.
Grass pushes through the asphalt in pale green veins. A shopping cart lies overturned near the curb. One wheel spins whenever the wind catches it.
There are hundreds of cars. Over these past few months youâve made a game out of seeing which ones are locked, pulling at the handles to see what unlocks. Itâs strange to think about how each car here, even in this fabricated world, belonged to a real person. By now, youâve memorised most of the cars here. The blue Honda with the baby seat. The station wagon with a stack of cassette tapes in the passenger footwell. The pickup truck full of fishing magazines. The sedan with a pair of sunglasses still sitting on the dashboard.
Sometimes, when Kai disappears, you linger here. Walking between the cars all night until the suns finally come up again. Looking through windows. Reading lives that stopped in the middle of being lived. Trying not to think too much about how youâve come to depend on him for everything.Â
Tonight you're sitting on the hood of your Cadillac. Or what youâve claimed as your Cadillac.Â
The paint glows red beneath the moonlight. The metal beneath your palms still holds the warmth of the drive.
Above you, the sky stretches endlessly. No planes. No distant traffic. No city glow.
Just stars.
Thousands of them.Â
The kind of sky people forget exists.Â
Kai sits on the roof of the Caddy, because of course he does. Heâs spread out, one leg over the windshield, the other dangling lazily over the side. You try not to cringe at the sight of his boots resting against the windshield. But you canât help notice how good he looks like this, legs spread, leaning on his forearms. He doesnât mind you staring, this you know for a fact. Still, you look away. Trying to play it cool. Civil. Platonic.Â
For a while neither of you speak. The silence isnât uncomfortable, it stopped being uncomfortable a year ago, but recently, something in the quiet was begging to press on you like a second skin.Â
Thenâ
"How many boyfriends did you have?" Kaiâs voice breaks the silence.Â
You don't look up. "What?"
"Boyfriends."
The word echoes slightly across the empty parking lot.
"How many?"
You sigh. "What a weird question."
"You didn't answer it."
"Maybe because it's none of your business."
"Everything is my business."
You roll your eyes, but he continues.Â
"Everything in this town is my business." He says, upset. He was here first, he always liked to remind you. You owed it to him, thus, to always oblige.Â
You throw a handful of sunflower seed shells to the pavement. Feigning disinterest.Â
"Five?" He pipes up.
"Hm?"Â
"Boyfriends."
"No."
"More?" He sounds taken aback.Â
"No."
"Less?"
You close your eyes.
"Why do you care?"
"I don't."
"You obviously do."
"I really don't."
"You brought it up."
"I was bored."
"You are always bored."
"Exactly."
The conversation should end there.
Instead, he continues: "Three." A pause.
The smallest one. But he notices the way you tense for a second, the way you donât deny him out right. "So three?"
"Three."
"Huh."
You immediately regret answering.
"Huh what?"
"Nothing."
"No."
You open one eye.
"Go ahead."
Kai shifts slightly on the roof. The movement rocks the car.
"You only seem like the type of person who would've had more."
"What does that even mean?"
"You know exactly what it means."
"No, I don't actually."
"Yes you do."
You laugh.
The sound disappears quickly into the open night.
Kai points vaguely in your direction. "You just seem difficult is all."
"Difficult."
"Yeah."
"Difficult."
"Very."
"That's rich coming from you."
"I never said I wasn't."
The wind moves through the parking lot.
You hear it rustling through weeds growing along the edges of the curb. The grocery store doors slide open. Then shut. Nobody triggered them. It still has you tense up a little, still has you thinking ghost, as silly as it is. Kai always explained away these idiosyncrasies by explaining that over the years the town had developed its own habits. You feel yourself pulled into questioning what that could mean about a space like this.
"Which one lasted the longest?" Kai asks, pulling you out of your head.Â
You glance upward. The question sounds casual.
"Two years."
His face twists. "Wow."
You roll your eyes. "What?"
"Nothing."
"You keep saying nothing."
"Two years is a long time."
"It really isn't."
"For normal people maybe."
You laugh despite yourself. "You're unbelievable."
"Thank you."
The stars feel closer tonight. Or maybe you've simply been staring at them too long. Sometimes you think you know every constellation. Sometimes you think you could navigate this entire world from memory. There are only so many places left to go. Only so many roads. Only so many buildings. You have walked every aisle. Opened every door. Read every menu. You know where every abandoned purse sits. Every unfinished meal. Every newspaper left folded on a table. The entire world has become familiar.
And stillâ
You feel lost.
"What happened?" Kai asks.
The question arrives quietly.
"He cheated."
"Oh."
The response comes immediately.
Too immediately.
"He cheated on you?"
"Yes." You said, voice hard. Like youâre still upset by it, but, you donât know how to explain that even then you didnât really care.Â
Kai frowns. You turn to look up at him and heâs frowning. Hard.Â
"That's embarrassing."
You laugh. "For who?"
"For him."
You stare.
Kai stares back.
"He had you for two years and still cheated?"
You shake your head. "You're ridiculous."
"No."
His expression remains strangely sincere. "He sounds stupid."
The hardware store always feels colder than the rest of town. The automatic doors open as you approach. Cool air rushes across your skin. God, you love AC.Â
But the smell here too, thereâs something in it that reminds you of home. Of your town. Of your house, all the way on the outskirts of Mystic Falls. It didnât exist yet in 1994. Itâs just a beautiful bit of forest now. But still, the smell of the store has something in your chest ache. You try break down the fragrance: Soil. Paint. Wood. Varnish. Rubber.Â
The scent of unfinished projects.
The concrete floors hold onto the air conditioning. Every footstep echoes. Rows of paint cans stretch beneath fluorescent lights. Stacks of lumber rise toward the ceiling. Bags of potting soil sit piled near the entrance. One has split open. Dark earth spills across the floor.
You always like that.
The sight of something escaping containment. Something still capable of growing.Â
Kai pushes a shopping cart behind you. Not because you need one but because he enjoys hitting things with it.
The wheels squeal.Â
The sound bounces through the empty store.
"You know none of this matters."
You continue examining gardening gloves.
"Okay."
"You know it's fake."
"Okay."
"You know nobody is ever going to see your garden."
You pick up a pair. Drop them into the cart. The sound rings out through the aisle.
"I know."
Kai follows. The cart rattling behind him.
"You spent three hours planting roses yesterday."
"Yep."
"Three hours."
"Yep."
"Why?"
You stop walking. Turn around. Kai nearly crashes into you. For a second he looks annoyed. Then confused. The expression settles there. Genuine confusion.
The rarest thing he possesses.
"Because I wanted to."
His face twists. "That's not an answer."
"It's literally the answer."
"No."
He gestures wildly around the store. The empty aisles. The untouched shelves. The fluorescent lights that have burned continuously since 1994.
"Nobody is here."
"I know."
"Nobody is going to visit your damn garden."
"I know."
"Nobody will congratulate you or help you or prove to you that youâve done something in this space that will bring change."
You study him. The crease between his eyebrows. The impatience. The frustration. The complete inability to understand. You wonder why he canât see it. Canât look past the gardening and the flowers and the beauty and see the purpose.Â
The idea of doing something for no reason other than wanting it.
"You ever think," you ask quietly, "that maybe I'm not doing it for anybody else?"
Silence.
The air conditioner hums overhead. Somewhere a forklift sits abandoned forever.
A radio behind the customer service desk continues playing the same song it was playing eighteen years ago.
The bookstore is your favorite place in Mystic Falls. The smell reaches you before the doors even open. Paper. Dust. Ink. Old glue. The scent of stories sitting untouched. The carpet is navy blue. Someone spilled coffee near the travel section years ago. The stain remains. A cardboard display advertising a Stephen King novel still stands near the register.
The edges have curled inward. Nobody ever fixed it. Nobody ever will.
The speakers continue playing the same soft music they've played for nearly two decades. Sometimes you stop noticing it. Sometimes it becomes unbearable. Tonight it's somewhere in between. You wander slowly between the shelves. Running your fingers across spines.
You don't need another book. You've read most of them already. Some twice. Some five times. Still. You like looking.
You like pretending there might be something new waiting.
Kai hates bookstores. You know this because he's currently stretched across an entire section of mystery novels. A paperback rests upside down on his chest.
"You haven't turned a page."
"I know."
"Then you're not reading."
âYep. Consider it a form of protest.â
"Ahh.â You canât help but smile a little at his antics. âAnd the book youâre holding. Prop or weapon?â
Kai looks at you, he offers you a half smile back. âNeither. I just wanted to upset you.â
You roll your eyes. "Fair." And walk on.Â
âŠ.
Youâd let yourself get lost in the historical section of the small shop. Itâs mainly cold war, second hand paper backs, still you look. You feel Kai before you see him. He plops down unceremoniously by you, staring at the side of your face.
"Did they love you?"
You stop.
The question arrives so suddenly that for a moment you think you've imagined it. You look up at him, but he seems perfectly fine.Â
"What?"Â
"Your boyfriends." Kai cocks his head to the side, examining. "Did they love you?"
The fluorescent lights buzz softly overhead. You shrug. "I don't know." You mutter, standing. You brush your skirt down, shaken by something you canât quiet name.Â
"You don't know?"
"No."
"How?"
You smile faintly. "They thought they did."
"No." Kai sits upright, stands up. âPeople know."
"They think they know."
"No."
He stands. Walks toward you. Stopping only a few feet away. "You'd know."
"I really wouldn't."
"You would."
You shake your head. The bookstore stretches endlessly behind him. Shelf after shelf after shelf. Entire lives stored in paper and ink. Entire worlds. Every one frozen. Every one waiting.
"You know what's funny?" you ask, voice quiet.Â
"What?"
"You ask more questions than anybody I've ever met."
Kai looks horrified. "I do not."
"You absolutely do."
"I barely speak."
"You interrogate people."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
You laugh.
Kai rolls his eyes.
Thenâ
Silence.
Long enough for you to hear the music overhead. Long enough to hear the air conditioning cycle on. Long enough for the entire bookstore to feel impossibly empty.
His gaze drifts away first.
Toward the shelves. Toward nothing. When he finally speaks, his voice is quieter.
"So they really only loved you for a little while?"
The question settles between you. Something sharp hidden beneath it. Something possessive. Something ugly.
Kai notices your expression immediately.
"What?"
You smile slowly.
"You know, for someone who doesn't careâ"
"Oh, shut up."
"I didn't even finish."
"I know exactly what you're going to say."
You laugh.
Kai turns away.
The tips of his ears are red. Outside, Mystic Falls waits exactly as you left it. Empty roads. Empty houses. Empty stores.
An entire world abandoned.
And somehow, in the middle of all that silence, Kai Parker still manages to sound jealous.
Klaus Mikaelson X Soulmate!Reader x Elijah Mikaelson Ch. 24
Word Count- 9.2k
Warnings- Swearing, mentions of death and violence, alcohol, kissing, sexual shiz, Klaus being freaky deaky (no children better be reading this)
A/n- Rebekah didnât hook up with Damon she just hooked up with a rando after the dance!
âIâm bored,â Kol whined desperately to his siblings as they lounged in the grand living room.
Kol threw himself onto the leather ottoman, âOur sister is a strumpet, but at least sheâs having fun. I need entertainment.â
Klaus narrows his eyes at his younger brother, âWhat are you waiting for? Go on have at it.â
âItâs no fun to go alone. Join me, Nik,â Kol leans forward with a mischievous look.
Klaus sends a bored look at him and then goes back to his sketch. Kol lets out a loud groan and stands up.
âWell, if you wonât go with me,â He taps his chin in thought, âIâm sure I can find someone to spend my afternoon withâŠwhat about that little mate of yoursâŠY/n, was it? Oh yes, Iâm sure sheâs great fun, I wonder if sheâd let me-â
Kol is cut off from finishing his sentence as Klaus wraps his hand around his brotherâs throat, âFinish that sentence and youâll find yourself right back into that coffin of yours, brother. Iâm sure itâs missed your company.â
Kol not entirely caring for his brotherâs antics, rolls his eyes, âJoking, brother,â Kol plucks Klausâ fingers off his throat one by one, âAnd as you should know, youâre mate and I are now,â Kol frowns, âWhat do they call it nowâŠoh yes, besties.â
Klausâ mood gets darker the more Kol speaks.Â
âThatâs not true!â
Both brothers turn at the whining of their sister.
âY/n is my best friend!â
Kol raises an eyebrow in challenge, âReally? And did she say this herself or is this another one of your delusions.â
Rebekah glares at her brother before grabbing a nearby vase and hurling it at him.Â
Kol quickly darts away and laughs, âYour aim is almost as bad as your taste in men sister.â
Rebekah lets out a loud whine, resulting in Klaus groaning in annoyance.Â
âEnough of you two,â Klaus throws himself back down onto the couch, âIâll put both of you back into your coffins.â
âMother would never allow that,â Rebekah says proudly as she sits on the same couch as Klaus.Â
âJoin me, brother. Itâs the least you could do after sticking a dagger in my heart,â Kol tries to reason with Klaus. Besides, are you truly going to spend all afternoon drawing pictures of your pretty little obsession?â
Klausâ eyes narrow at his brother, but he knows he canât deny the accusation of his current muse.Â
With a final sigh, Klaus stands with a sound of annoyance, âOkay. Why not? I didnât have nearly enough to drink last night what with you trying to murder Rebekahâs date.â
Klaus strolls by both of his siblings, taking the sketchbook filled with drawings of his soulmate with him.
âYes, please go, this house has enough men rolling around in it,â Rebekah says annoyed as Kol begins to follow his brother.Â
Kol turns around and smirks at his sister, âJust like you, Bekah!â
Rebekah throws her purse at him, âGood riddance, both of you.â
â
âNo sir,â I try not to roll my eyes at the middle-aged man sitting at the bar in front of me, âWe do not offer refunds for alcohol youâve already drank.â
The drunk man in front of me glares, âYouâre mean.â
âIâm going to be a lot meaner if you donât pay,â I deadpan back at him and with a roll of his eyes he fishes out a stack of ones from his pocket and throws them onto the bar counter.Â
âGreat,â I mutter as the man drunkenly stalks away.Â
âRough day?â
I continue to count the ones as I answer Ric, âI love working my ass off for minimum wage.â
Ric lets out a chuckle, âYa I bet⊠But if anyone can handle a job like this itâs you, Y/n.â
I look up from the money, âYa? And why is that?â
Ricâs upper lip twitches, âYou spent an entire summer living with Damon, without killing him. Because of that, I'm pretty sure you could do anything.â
I ponder Ricâs comment and then nod, âI am a person of great strength, arenât I?â
Ric chuckles and raises his drink in agreement at my sarcastic comment, âVery much indeed.â
A moment later, a dark-haired woman sits down next to Ric. A little too close for my liking. Since Jenna has gone to Nebraska or wherever the hell she and Jeremy went, Iâve been keeping an eye on Ric to make sure he stays away from other women. She never asked me to do this, but as a fellow girls girl, I must.Â
My shoulders deflate as a customer at the other end of the bar ushers me over. As I deal with him I keep sending glances over to Ric and the mystery woman, who appear to be in a serious conversation.Â
After I deal with the man, I make my way over to Ricâs area and pretend to dry some glasses. Glasses I had already dried 20 minutes prior.Â
âItâs impossible to know anything about whoever stabbed you,â I overhear the woman and I raise my eyebrows up in shock, âShort, tall, left-handed, right-handed, no clue.â
Why the hell does Ric keep getting killed?!?
âWell, what about my head, why canât I remember anything about the attack?â
âYour CT scans were clear. Maybe you were compelled to forget,â THe woman answers Ric.
âThat wouldnât be possible,â I casually chime in as if I wasnât already listening to their conversation. Both adults turn to me with confused faces, âYâknow since Ric practically bathes in vervain. He drinks it a lotâŠJust like his girlfriend, Jenna. His longtime girlfriend.â
The woman furrows her eyebrows and gives me an odd look and I smile at her sweetly before turning around and going back to fucking around with the glasses.
âWait⊠you think the person who did this to me was a vampire,â Ric questions quietly to the rando.
âI mean itâs the only option,â She answers and I fight the urge to ask why I vampire would stab Ric when they could just bite him, or like rip his head off.Â
âOh, come on now.â
Oh god no.Â
That British accent has me tensing my shoulders and keeping my gaze towards the wall, hoping he hasnât noticed me.Â
âLetâs not go blaming the new family in town just cause you lot have got yourselves a killer at large,â I hear Klaus say to Ric and whats-her-face, âDonât mind us. My brother and I are just here to let off some steam, right, Kol?â
Great, he brought the ankle biter.Â
âRight.â
Ric and the woman are silent for a moment.
âRic, Iâm going to play some pool, join me,â The womanâs voice comes out urgent and I donât have to have eyes in the back of my head to know Ric is staring at me.Â
âOh, donât fret Alaric,â Klausâ voice comes mocking, âIâm not going to lay a finger on Elenaâs little friend, go have fun with your girl.â
His words hit my heart like a dagger, weird how now Iâm just âElenaâs friendâ when yesterday you were pretty much confessing your heart and soul to me. Pun intended.Â
âYou alright, kid?â
Without turning around I throw a thumbs up at Ric. After a moment I hear the screeching of two stools.
Everything is quiet for a moment.Â
âIf it isnât my bestie.â
Lord, give me the strength.Â
I slowly turn around and face the two brothers. One watching me with an amused smirk and the otherâŠjust watches me.Â
Klausâ eyes seem to be marking every inch of my face and body as if heâs committing me to memory.Â
âAnkle biter,â I retort as I wipe my hands on my apron and begin to walk to the other side of the bar.Â
âAye, where do you think youâre going,â Kolâs foxlike tone halts me, âI would very much like a drink, and my brother hereâŠwell Iâm sure a drink isnât exactly what he wants from you.â
I almost choke on my breath at Kolâs words as I turn to face him.Â
âAlso, what is this ankle-biter nonsense? Is that some type of term friends use for one another in this century,â Kol asks as he places his chin on his hand, watching me.Â
âYa, sure.â
Kol seems to be delighted with my answer as he shoots a smug smile towards his brother. Klaus doesnât give him the time of day though as he keeps his eyes on me.Â
âWhat do you want to drink, Kol,â I take a step closer to the bar as I grab a glass for him and Klaus.Â
âWhat do you recommend, Little Doll,â Kol smiles up at me.Â
âArsonic.â
A loud laugh escapes Kolâs lips, but itâs Klausâ light chuckle that I canât help but fall into.Â
âOh, sheâs funny,â Kol says excitedly and then turns to his brother, âOdd fate mated her to the boring brothers,â this finally catches a glare from Klaus and Kol turns back to me and leans over the bar, âIâm sure I can contact some witch friends of mine and get that bond switched over to me. Weâd have so much more fun.â
âBrother, another word out of you and itâll be your tongue that comes out of your mouth,ââ Klaus bites and I instantly take a step back.Â
My movement catches the hybrid's attention and a small frown makes its way onto his face.Â
Klausâ eyes are filled with something that makes my stomach twist. I turn my attention back towards Kol who is watching Klaus and I with his signature smirk.Â
âYouâre getting bourbon,â I tell him as I turn and grab a bottle of liquor from the shelf behind me.Â
âOh, goodie! Second shelf alcohol,â I bite down on my lip to keep my laugh hidden from Kolâs sarcastic remark.Â
I turn back around pour the brown liquid into two glasses and then place them in front of the two men.Â
âThank you, Doll,ââ Kol says cheekily as he downs the liquid in one go. He then places the glass back on the counter and uses his forefinger to tap it.Â
âYou know you guys are going to have to pay for this right,â I tap the bottle and raise an eyebrow at both of them, âIâm on vervain so you canât just compel me to make it on the house.â
Kol quickly flings a hand to his heart and a look of hurt comes over his face, âYou would really assume such horrible assumptions of us?â
I donât even blink as I answer, âYes.â
Kolâs fake-hurt look instantly drops into a smirk, âAnd youâd be correct. Knew you were a smart one. But, donât you worry,â He sends a glance to his brother who is still staring at me, âElijah and this thing have already given our siblings a rule book of things to not do when it comes to you. Compelling you is number three,â Kol holds up three fingers.
I furrow my brows in confusion as I turn to Klaus who has now found interest in his still-full glass, âRule book? And why is compulsion only number three?!â
âOh yes, my brothers gave a whole presentation to us last night on things weâre not allowed to do,â Kol nods thoughtfully.
âKol, I will dagger you,â Klausâ threat comes out harsh as he glares at his younger brother.Â
Kol rolls his eyes and then leans back over the bar again and whispers to me, âWeâll chat later.â
âYou will not,â Klaus says before downing his downing his drink.Â
âUnlike you, Elijah says weâre allowed to speak to her,â Kol says matter-of-factly to his brother with a smirk.Â
In this light, no one would even guess that these two are psychopathic vampires, right now all theyâre acting like is two brothers who like to piss each other off.Â
âThat is because of Rebekah, you werenât a part of the pardon.â
Kol glares at his brother.Â
âDonât listen to him, Doll,â Kol turns back to me, âI wonât let them separate us.â
I purse my lips, âYippee.â
Kolâs eyes go towards his drink and I roll my own. Nonetheless, I raise the bourbon bottle and pour him another one. I turn to look at Klaus, who surprise surprise is already looking at me, and I raise the glass in question.
Klaus nods his head, âThank you, Love.â
I pour another drink for Klaus and then place the bottle onto the counter, then turn away hoping to go anywhere but here.Â
âLittle Doll, where are you going? Stay and chat with us,â Kolâs grating voice makes me roll my eyes.Â
âIâm on the clock Kol. Unlike some people,â I send looks to both of the brothers, âI actually have to work to make money.â
Kol turns to his right side and then his left, âThereâs no one else here, Darling.â
I copy his movements and let outa swear when I realize that there is no one else waiting for a drink.Â
âCome chat with us,â Kol pulls his wallet out of his jacket pocket and places it on the counter, âWeâll make it worth your time.â
âIâm not a prostitute, Kol.â
A low growl from Klaus sends shockwaves down my spine.Â
âDonât listen to the dog, Doll. And Iâd never insinuate you were a lady of the night. And besides,â Kolâs smirk deepens, âIâve never had to pay a woman to spend a night with me. If anything they shouldâve been paying me.â
I watch in silent disbelief at Kolâs hurt expression as he finishes his sentence. And here I thought Theo was full of himself.Â
âRightâŠâ
âIgnore him, Astin Min, itâs what all my family doesâ Klausâ voice pulls my attention.
A quick look of hurt covers Kolâs face and for a moment I wonder if he actually has real emotions.
âWhatever mutt.â
Nevermind.Â
âPour yourself a drink, Doll,â Kol turns to me with a smile, âOn me.â
I open my mouth to reject him but Klaus speaks first.
âShe doesnât drink,â His tone comes out casual as he takes a sip of his own drink, but as his eyes meet mine Iâm taken back to the night before when I told him things about myself that not even Theo knows.
âWell, thatâs lame,â Kol mutters under his breath, âWhat else is there to do for fun around here other than drink?â
I break eye contact with Klaus and shrug my shoulders, âPretty much nothing.â
âThen why do you live here,â Kolâs question comes off actually inquisitive, unlike his other comments.
âAsk my mother,â I mutter under my breath.
âYikes,â Kol yips, âAre we not a fan of mummy dearest.â
I clench my fists as I think back to my mother.
âDrop it, KolâŠLuv,â Klausâ unusually soft voice sends a wave of comfort over me and I unclench my fists.Â
âWould you mind,â He gestures to his finished drink.
I grab the bourbon bottle and begin refilling his drink. I notice though that instead of watching my face, like usual, heâs glaring at my hand.Â
âMe too, Doll,â Kol chimes in, and after I fill his brotherâs glass I fill his as well.Â
âWhy do you work here,â Klaus questions.Â
I send him a glance and begin tapping my fingers to the song playing on the barâs speakers, âAs I said before, I need the money.â
âFor what?â
I want to roll my eyes at Klausâ questioning but when I see the honest look on his face I just shrug, âStuff.â
Klausâ eyebrows narrow, âStuff? What kind of stuff?â
âI donât know, like bills, and stuff. College savings.â
Klausâ eyes narrow further as if he canât grasp the concept of me having to work for this stuff, âWouldnât your mother be the one who pays for that stuff?â
I let out an annoyed laugh, âYou would think?â
âYou could quit,â Klausâ comment makes me roll my eyes.Â
âHave you not been listening? I need the money!â
Klaus leans back in his chair and sends me an annoyed look, âIâll pay for these things.â
What is up with these Mikaelsons and wanting to financially support me??!?
âYouâd pay for me,â I say skeptically, âYou pay my car insurance, my car payment, my groceries, my taxes, my gas, my art supplies, my college fund, Theoâs college fund,â I list off all my expenses in annoyance.
âWithout question.â
I eye Klaus for any sign of a lie, but the stern look on his face tells me everything I need to know. Heâs being serious.Â
I release an uncomfortable noise and look away from him, âWell, thanksâŠbut I can do it myself.â
From my peripheral, I see Klaus lean in and rest his elbows on the counter, âJust because you can, Love, doesnât mean you should have to.â
I feel a burning in my eyes as I consider Klausâ words.Â
âGood lord,â Kol groans, âIf Iâll have to deal with this,â He gestures to Klaus and I, âFor the next millenia. Might as well put me out of my misery and dagger me now.ââ
Klaus sends a dark smirk to his brother, âWith pleasure.â
âOh! I remember her from last night,â Kol points off to the distance and I follow his finger towards Caroline, who has just walked in looking quite hot, âShe looks like a tasty little thing.â
Klaus spares a fleeting glance at Caroline before turning back towards me, âHave at it brother,â He mutters without a care.
âHello, Darling,â Kol calls to Caroline who strides past both men.
Caroline stops and sends a bored look to the men. Her gaze holds on Klausâ back and a look of annoyance passes over her face.
âJoin us for a drink will you,â Kol questions her and raises his glass.Â
âWhoâs us?â
Carolineâs words have no hold over me, but the way she keeps looking at Klausâ back as if she wants his attention, makes an annoyance build in my chest.Â
My eyes dart to Klaus momentarily and I see him send me an odd look before turning over his shoulder to glance at Caroline. The blonde vampire instantly flicks her hair over her shoulder as the hybrid looks at her and I hear Klaus let out a low chuckle.Â
Carolineâs features instantly morph into annoyance again when Klaus turns back around to face me with a knowing smirk.Â
âIâd rather die of thirst,â Caroline looks at Kol, âBut thanks. Bye, Y/n.â
With one last glance at Klausâ back, Caroline sends me a smile, before pretty much stomping back outside.Â
âWell,â Kol turns back towards me, âHand me that bottle, love. Iâm going to go harass the locals.â
âAre you going to pay for it?â
Kol must notice my change in mood as he smirks and opens up his wallet, âOf course love. Wouldnât want to make you mad.â
I watch in awe as Kol fishes out a handful of one-hundreds and throws them on the counter in front of him.Â
âKol, itâs a $80 bottle,â I say unbelievably.
Kol just smirks and shrugs, âWith the way it tastes it better beâŠbut the rest is your tip, Little Doll,â He reaches over the counter and grabs the bottle before standing up. He then glances at his brother, âEnjoy. Talk soon.â
I watch with my mouth open as Kol saunters over to the pool table where the woman Ric was previously talking to is standing. I turn my attention to the wad of money on the counter and quickly count it.
Eight hundred dollars. Thatâs a $720 tip. This is more than Iâll make in an entire monthâŠhell two months.Â
I shake my head in disbelief as a happy laugh escapes me. Â
âNow that I know money makes you do that, Iâll be sure to tip you a lot.â
I look to Klaus, confused.
âWhat?â
Klaus looks at me with the same heartstopping look from last night, âYour smile,â He gestures to my mouth as if itâs nothing, âI rarely see you smile like that.â
Klausâ comment has a wave of embarrassment flowing through me, âIâm not superficial or anything,â I deny as I hold the money close to me, âItâs just thatâŠ,â I pause unsure if I should continue, âThis amount of money might not seem like much to you guys, but⊠to me, itâs life-changing. I donât have a trust fund to fall back on if times get tough. All I have is the money I save and with all the money I spend on bills and Theoâs sportsâŠI donât have much left. If any at all.âÂ
âYou donât have to explain yourself to me, Y/n. I may have never had to worry about money, but I understand what it feels like to want something out of reach.â
I tug on my bottom lip as I nod and put my large tip into my apron pocket, âThanks.â
Klaus smirks, âNo need to thank me, love.â
I lock eyes with him and I feel a small smile making its way onto my face. Klaus appears to start to say something but the voice of a customer from the other end of the bar turns my attention.
âOf course,â I hear Klaus mutter.Â
I hold up one finger to the customer and then turn back to Klaus.
Klaus nods, âGo, love. Iâll be here waiting.â
â
I let out a deep sigh as I finished dealing with a rush of customers. Normally when dealing with drunk people my anxiety level is only at 100 but with the everlasting stare I felt from Klaus the entire time my anxiety is now at a whopping 100,000.
âDo you need a refill,â I finally make my way over to Klaus who hasn't moved from his chair.Â
âIâm alright, Love,â The side of his lip twitches as he looks at me, âI do wonder though why get a job working as a bartender when itâs clear how much you loathe drunk people.â
I bring my hand up to my neck and rub out the tension. Klaus's eyes follow my movement and his normal bright blue seems to darken.Â
âI um⊠Donât usually work as a bartender. But, someone called in sick so I covered for them.â
Klausâ eyes make their way back up to my face and he nods in understanding.
âWhen do you get off?â
I glance down at the watch on my wrist and sigh, âThankfully, only 30 more minutes.â
Klaus seems to be happy with my response.
âGreat. What are you doing after this?â
I narrow my eyes at the hybrid, âWhy do you ask?â
Klaus's lips morph into a smirk and he leans back and shrugs his shoulders, âAsking for a friend.ââ
I let out a small laugh, âRight, of course. Because as I know you have so many of those.â
Klausâ eyes narrow at my jab and I laugh again.Â
âTell your friend that I have a date.â
Klausâ smirk drops.Â
âWho?â
Klausâ instant change in attitude startles me. Long gone is his casual demeanor, now replaced by something darker.Â
âWhat?â
At my question, Klaus leans in and practically glares at me, âWho is your date?â
I try not to let Klausâ attitude freak me out as I lean into him so our faces are a few inches apart, âThe leftover lasagna I have in my freezer at home.â
Klausâ face instantly morphs into annoyance, âAre you serious right now?â
I shrug, âI never joke about pasta.â
Klaus runs a hand over his face, âY/nâŠcareful.â
I raise an eyebrow at him, âWhy?â
Klaus takes his hand away from his face and instead brings it up to run a finger along my jawline. I inhale an involuntary breath as he watches me with a dark gleam in his eyes.Â
âYou need to be careful because if I ever do find out you were to go on a date with another man,â My breath comes out shallow as he leans in so close our noses are practically touching, âIâd find himâŠrip all of his limbs off and then,â His eyes trail down to my lips, âIâd ravage you in his blood. So every time after that, every time a man even glances your wayâŠall youâll be able to think about is the feeling of me on top of you.â
I let out a squeak. A fucking squeak.Â
I canât seem to find my words, which only seems to please Klaus.
âYouâŠyou,â I try to shove away any unwanted thoughts as I look a the man before me, âYouâre not allowed to get jealousâŠweâre not even together. Like I talked with Elijah about, weâre going to be just friends for right now.â
Klaus lets out a loud laugh.
âFriends?!â
I furrow my brows at the tone in his voice.
âY/n love,â Klaus meets my eye, âMy brother may try to fool you and himself with that silly notion, but know thisâŠyou and I,â He points from himself to me, âWill never be just friends. Friends donât think of each other the way you and I think of one another.â
I shake my head in denial, âI have no idea what youâre talking about.â
Klaus tilts his head, âNo? So that death glare you were sending your blood friend while she was trying to get my attention was nothing?â
God, I donât know if I want to punch him or kiss him.
âJust to let you know though, you have no reason to be jealous. No other woman could sway my gaze away from my little muse.â
I feel my face heat at his confession and I open my mouth to try to deny him again but a piercing pain makes me release a loud gasp.Â
I feel my knees buckle as I clutch my heart.
âY/n!â
I think I can hear Klausâ frantic voice but with the searing pain, itâs kind of hard to focus on anything.
Iâm soon enveloped in a warm embrace as I feel hands go under my arms and my knees, bringing me into a bridal-style pose.Â
âIâve got you, Love.â
I try to focus on the warmth of Klaus instead of my chest, but itâs kind of hard when it hurts like a motherfucker.Â
A rush of cold air hits my face, and I think we must be outside now.Â
âIâve got to set you down for a moment, my love. Iâve got to go kill your friends momentarily.â
I try to open my eyes when I feel myself being placed on cold ground and I think I can see Stefan and Damon fighting with Klaus.Â
After a moment I feel a weight being lifted off my chest and I no longer feel the stabbing pain. Thank fuck.Â
âI shouldâve killed you months ago,â I lift my head to see Klaus standing in front of me protectively and Stefan and Damon a few feet away from him looking disheveled. I lock eyes with Damon, and his eyes narrow as he looks at me for a moment before turning back toward Klaus.Â
âDo it. Thatâs not gonna stop Esther from killing you.â
The fuck?
âWhat did you say about my mother?â
I watch with bated breath as Klaus stalks toward the eldest Salvatore.
âYou didnât know I was friends with your mummy? Yeah, we have a lot in common. She hates you as much as I do.â
âDemon, you fucking idiot,â I cough out, as I try to sit up against the stone wall.Â
Klaus rushes towards him but is stopped by the sound of Elijahâs voice.Â
Yay, Lijah.Â
âLeave him!â
Klaus, Damon, and I, both turn to look up the stone staircase where Elijah stands.Â
âWe still need him, Niklaus.â
Klaus takes a step closer to his brother, âWhat did mother do? What did she do, Elijah?â
Elijah starts walking down the stairs and as he gets to the bottom step he unbuttons his jacket and takes it off.Â
Why is this dude stripping right now?
âYouâre shaking,â Elijahâs eyes meet mine and he reaches out his jacket for me to take. The cold look he had on his face, moments ago is gone and replaced with a sorrowful look as he gives me a once-over.
Oh. He's being chivalrous and here Iâm calling him a stripper. My bad.
I reach out a hand, and as I catch a glimpse of its shaking I now just realize how right Elijah is. I try to muster up a small smile of thanks as I grab the jacket from him and place it over my shoulders. Elijah nods once before turning back and striding over the Damon.
âYou tell me where the witches are or Iâll have my sister kill Elena right now.â
âWhat?!â
I feel my heart drop in my stomach at Elijahâs words and I push on the wall to stand up on wobbly legs.Â
âElijah, what the hell are you talking about?!â
For the very first time since meeting him, Elijah ignores me.Â
âYou told me we had until after 9,â Damon says and I shake my head in confusion.Â
âIâm sure Rebekah would be more than happy to start her work early.ââ
Elijahâs words send waves of fear through me.Â
A look of fear comes over Damon's face and he tries to rush past Elijah but Elijah halts him with a hand to his chest.
âAnd one last thing you should know. I see you have procured a center fondness for Y/n,â At Elijahâs comment Damonâs eyes meet mine, âAs you may or may not know Y/n is my soulmate. As well as my brothers. With that being said if either one of us were to dieâŠY/n would shortly follow. Just thought you should know.â
Tears begin welling in my eyes as I watch Elijah. Damon looks at Elijah and Klaus, to see if either one of them is bluffing but when looking at both of their grim expressions he clenches his jaw. Damon pushes past Elijah, grabs Stefan, and begins to walk up the stairs. He stops though, momentarily and turns to look over his shoulder. We lock eyes and after a moment he shakes his head harshly and speeds away with his brother.Â
Tears stream down my face as I stare at the spot Damon was in only moments ago.Â
âElskan,â Elijahâs soft voice comes from beside me and I flinch.
I take 3 large steps away and I stare wide-eyed at him.
âDo NOT come near me,â I raise an accusing finger at him and shrug off his coat from my shoulders.Â
âElskan, please you donât understand,â Elijah raises his hands and tries to step closer to me but takes another step away. He frowns at my movement but still stops moving.Â
âUnderstand what, Elijah!? That youâre threatening to kill my best friend?! Or that youâre using me as fucking leverage!â
Itâs Elijahâs turn to flinch as I muster whatever strength I have left to yell at him.Â
âElena is innocent! And I thought you were better than this to use my a fucking leverage against my friends!â
Elijah shakes his head, âYouâre so-called innocent friend made a deal with my mother to rid my entire family of this earth.â
I shake my head in denial but Elijah continues.Â
âI asked Miss. Gilbert to be honest with me and she lied straight to my face. She was willing to let my entire family die, Y/n. But, Iâm not. Especially when it means that you will also perish.â
âElena would never do anything to hurt me,â I shake my head a wipe away the tears flowing down my face.Â
âExactly⊠that is why I told Damon what would happen to you if my siblings and I were to die.â
Elijah begins to take another step toward me but he is interfered by Klaus.
A snarl leaves Elijahâs lips and I back up to the point where my back is now pressed into the wall.Â
âGive her space, brother,â I hear Klaus. Klaus turns over his shoulder to look at my quivering form and I see Elijahâs angry expression hinder as he looks at me.Â
âWhat the bloody hell happened?â
I whip around with teary eyes to see a groaning Kol, walk down the steps, with a look of anger on his face.Â
He looks at his brothers but when they donât give him the time of day, he turns to me. His angry expression dims into confusion when he notices my tear-stained face.Â
âWhich one of you did this?â
Iâm shocked by the angry tone Kol directs at his brothers.Â
âNot now Kol,â Elijah glares at his younger brother, who glares back at him.Â
âAm I going to die tonight?â
My quiet voice catches all three menâs attention and they turn to me.Â
âI wonât let that happen, love,â Klaus takes a step towards me but I move around him and find myself standing behind Kol.Â
Klaus seems hurt by my action but I honestly donât give a flying fuck right now.
âWhat will happen to Theo if I die,â I feel my chest hurt as I mutter to myself. My body begins to shake and I blink rapidly as my vision goes in and out. I try to catch my breath but I think Iâve forgotten how to breathe. Oh God, Iâm suffocating.Â
Warm hands press themselves to my face and I think I can hear Klausâ voice through the ringing that is going through my head. Klausâ voice is gone though as the ringing in my head gets louder and my breaths get shorter.Â
My breathing completely halts as a weight presses itself onto my lips.
I open my eyes and realize that Klaus is pressing his lips to mine. Again.Â
Iâm practically knocked out of the panic attack I was in as I back away quickly from Klaus who watches my every move.Â
My eyes fling from Klaus to Kol who is watching the exchange with a raised eyebrow, and then I look to Elijah who now wonât meet my eye.Â
âWell, now that that is doneâŠIâd like very much to not die today so letâs get this show on the road.â
I look towards Kol who eyes me for a moment before wrapping me under his arm and begins walking me up the stairs.Â
I go to take a step but my knees buckle and I begin to fall.Â
Thankfully, Kol wraps his arm around my waist and uses his strength to pretty much carry me up the stairs, âDonât worry love. Iâve got you.â
I look up at him and find myself beginning to tear up again, âThank you.â
Kol looks down at me and something shifts in his eyes momentarily before he looks forward and smirks, âWhat are friends for?â
â-
Iâm now trudging through a cold, windy ass forest to go stop my soulmate's deranged mother from killing us all. Fantastic. Fuck Iâm hungry.Â
Klaus, Elijah, and Kol walk ahead of me a few paces as I trudge behind. Kol offered to carry me the way but not wanting to feel like a damsel I denied him. Now as my aching muscles scream at me, I regret it.Â
Thankfully, I warm orange light can be seen from up ahead.
Elijah stops and turns to me, âYou should stay here. Weâll handle this.â
I glare at Elijah and walk past him and the other two men, âYa, because you three have been so good at handling things so far,â I spit.Â
I try to forget the pain as I march towards the open center of the woods where Esther stands with Finn in a circle of fire and salt.Â
Sigmund Freud, you wouldâve loved these two.
Elijah comes to stand on my right, Klaus on my left and Kol walks behind them to stand right beside Klaus.Â
âMy sons, come forward,â Esther says, and god Iâve never wanted to throw a punch at a woman more in my entire life.Â
âStay beside me,â Finn puts his hand out to his mother and I frown at him.Â
âItâs okay. They canât enter.â
âYa, so why donât you stop hiding behind your magic and come over here bitch,â I bite at her and I hear Kol snigger.Â
âAh, yes. Iâm afraid we havenât properly met, my dear. I do want you to know I donât blame you for your anger. I am incredibly sorry that fate has put you with my sons.â
The flames around Esther and Finn engulf and I feel the warmth spread across my cold face. I feel a slight tug on my elbow and Klaus and Elijah come to stand in front of me.Â
âGo fuck yourself, Esther.â
âThatâs lovely,â Kol says as he looks at the flames, âWeâre stuck out here while the favorite son plays sacrificial lamb. How pathetic you are, Finn.â
âBe quiet, Kol,â Esther stops him, âYour brother knows virtue you cannot even imagine.â
âWhatever you think of us killing your own children would be an atrocity.â
Esther shakes her head at Elijahâs words.
âMy only regret is that I did not let you die a thousand years ago.â
âEnough,â Klaus exhausts, âAll this talk is boring me. End this now, Mother or Iâll send you back to hell.â
A smirk comes onto my face at Klausâ words.Â
âFor a thousand years Iâve been forced to watch you; felt the pain of every victim; suffered while you shed blood. Even you, Elijah, with your claim to nobility youâre not better. All of you youâre a curse on this Earth stretched out over generations. If youâve come to plead for your life Iâm sorry. Youâve wasted your time.â
âAnd what of Y/n,â The mention of my name has me looking at Elijah who points his finger at me, âA girl who is nothing but caring, pure, and good of heart. And yet what? You burden her with death. She does not deserve this mother. She is good⊠I am asking youâŠdo not harm the woman I love.â
Elijahâs eyes lock with mine and the emotions hidden in them pull something in me I didnât know existed.Â
âYes, she is innocent. But for how long? How long before your promised immortality results in her death or her transition into a monster like you all? Fate has already given his girl the hand of death. It is better I give her the mercy of a quick one now.â
A wave of anger Iâve never felt before exudes me as I push past Klaus and Elijah and stand at the ring of salt, heat from the fire be damned.Â
âYou are unbelievable!â
âExcuse me?â
âYou sit on your high horse hiding behind your poor son, while you degrade and belittle your other children! Instead of loving them for their faults, you have condemned them to think of themselves as nothing more than monsters. Yes, they have lived a thousand years, and yes they have spilled blood! But who the fuck wouldnât!? I havenât known any of them very long but I am sure that these so-called monsters you see as your children are not the people I see before me right now,â I point to Finn who watches me with a cold expression, âFinn for example follows you dutifully because thatâs all he knows! It is all heâs been allowed to know! You pushed this idea that he and his siblings are all monsters who deserve nothing and yet here he stands ready to die at your altar for your approval! Finn was betrayed by his siblings for almost a thousand years and when heâs finally awoken I bet you just jumped at the fact that he would cling to the first sign of care and love anyone would show him, didnât you,â I accuse the glaring woman in front of me and I look as Finnâs gaze turns to his mother, âA woman trying to sacrifice her own son isnât what he needed Esther, he needed a mother. And what about Kol,â I whip around and point at the boy next to me, âYes, Iâve only known him two days and heâs already a pain in my ass, but even in those two days heâs shown me more care than my own father or mother have ever shown me! And KlausâŠ,â I stop and make eye contact with Klaus who is watching me with an unreadable expression, âGodâŠEsther, you are a pathetic excuse for a woman and mother. How many times did you excuse Mikaelâs behavior? When Klaus came crying to you in pain, how many times did you just patch him up and then wait with bated breath until the next time he came to you needing help again? I have a mother like you, you know. And I love her because sheâs my motherâŠbut I also hate the ground she walks on because sheâs an idiotic woman who was too scared to leave a man who caused nothing but pain for her children. And after all of that, you criticize Elijahâs attempts at being a better person?! You just went on and on about them being monsters but the second one of them tries to change you disparage him? Right now Iâm pissed off at Elijah, but even though I am that doesnât stop me from thinking that he is one of the best people I have ever met in my 18 years of life. Before I met him, I was nothing,â I say and I can see my vision start to blur with tears, âI was a quiet girl who nobody cared for. I woke each day waiting for life to be done with me, just as I was done with it. But thenâŠ,â I look to Elijah whose eyes are filled with nothing but pure devotion, âI met a man who did something I never thought anyone would ever be able to doâŠbreathe. For the first time in my life, I wasnât holding my breath around everyone. The day I met Elijah everything changed for me. Meeting him was the best day of my lifeâŠand also the first day I truly started living. So donât you dare for a second blame your mistakes on them! You made your bed now fucking lie in it, Esther.â
Estherâs glare is harsh but nothing could sway the rage that flows through my body as I stare at the bitch in front of me.Â
Estherâs glare instantly shifts into fear and I am pulled back by Kol as the flames around the circle begin to flicker.Â
âNo! Sisters, do not abandon me!â
Estherâs yells are useless as the flames around us flare up and Kol covers my body with his own. After another moment the heat of the flames is gone.
I glance up at Kol and send him a smile and he nods.
Klaus, Elijah, Kol, and I stand together as we look at the unlit circle where I stone-faced Finn and a frightened Esther stand.
âFinn,â Esther grabs her son's arm, âWe must leave now.â
Finn looks down at his mother and then his gaze falls onto me.Â
âYouâre your own person Finn. PeculiarâŠbut still,â I smile at him and his chest puffs out.Â
Finn shrugs out his motherâs hold and shakes his head at her.Â
âFinn, what are you doing?â
I feel a sick smirk come onto my face as I look at Estherâs scared expression.Â
âI have lived for a thousand years mother, and yet I have spent none of those feeling alive. I think I deserve the chance to.â
I canât help the giant smile that I feel across my face at Finnâs words. Hell ya, brother!
âFinn you have no idea what youâre talking about! Donât let this insolent little harlot,â She gestures to me wildly, âSway you from the plan!â
A flash of motion catches my eye and I let out a yelp as I watch Estherâs head get swiped off her body.Â
Elijah stands before his motherâs dead body with a grim expression on his face, âNo one is allowed to insult, Y/n. Not even you, mother.â
I blink as I stare at Estherâs decapitated body.Â
âWell, mommy dearest is dead again.â
I look up to Kol whose attention goes from his motherâs body to Finn.
âYou absolute fool,â Kol bites at Finn, and all three brothers turn to glare at the eldest Mikaelson.
Without thinking I rush in front of Finn and put a hand out stopping his brothers.Â
âOff limits!â
âExcuse me?!â
Kol stares wildly at me as if I have three heads.Â
âYep. Just like you and me kol, Finn and I also have our own deal,â I look back towards Finn who looks at me confused before nodding along, âSo if you dagger him, Iâll never speak to the three of you again.â
âI can live with that,â Kol mutters not taking his eyes off Finn.
âThatâs fineâŠthen that means our deal no longer stands, ankle biter. Tell me,â I smirk at Kol, âHow many moth balls does that coffin of yours collect a year?â
Kol turns his glare from his brother to me, but I hold it.Â
âIf anything I think you all owe Finn an apology. I mean Kol youâre pissed off for being daggered away for a hundred years, and yet you hold no sympathy for your brother who was daggered for ten times that?!â
Kol glare drops slightly as he thinks for a moment before rolling his eyes.Â
âI take it backâŠI wouldnât want to be your mate.â
âRight back at you.â
With one final look at his brother, Kol speeds off into the dark forest.Â
My attention goes to Elijah and Klaus and I raise an eyebrow in challenge at them.Â
âWhatâs it going to be, boys?â
Elijahâs eyes donât leave mine as he addresses his eldest brother, âLeave Finn.â
âThank you, Y/n,â I hear Finn whisper to me before he also speeds off into the night.
I look a the two men before me and let out a shaky breath.Â
âSooooooooâŠ..â
âDid you mean what you said?â
I look at Elijah, âThat Iâm pissed off at youâŠyes.â
Elijah shakes his head, âY/nâŠâ
I rub a hand down my face and nod, âYes. Every word.â
I donât have time for my hand to move away from my face when I feel two strong arms wrap themselves around me in an embrace.Â
I release a shaky breath as I feel Elijah use one hand to grip my waist and the other to hold the back of my head.Â
I know Iâm not much of a huggerâŠbut damn this feels nice.Â
âThank you.â
Elijahâs soft voice makes me almost forget Iâm mad at himâŠalmost.Â
âYouâre welcome. But, Iâm still pissed at you.â
âI know, Elskan,â Elijah says as he leans back and runs a hand through my hair, getting it out of my face.Â
A cough interrupts us and I glance over Elijahâs shoulder to Klaus who is watching us with a glare.Â
I step away from Elijah, who grunts in disapproval.Â
âSo, Iâm glad we didnât die. Thatâs cool.â
Silence.
âOkayâŠwell Iâm starving and your motherâs decapitated head is right by my left foot sooooooâŠ.can we leave?â
â-
Klaus and I walk silently up the staircase to my front door. Elijah had left us earlier to go tell Rebekah about their mother.Â
When Klaus and I get to my door, I wait for him to say something, but sigh when all he does is stare at the door.Â
âOkâŠNight,â I reach for the handle and begin to turn it when Klaus's hand grabs mine. I turn to look at him in question but before I can even blink Iâm being tagged forward into Klausâ embrace and his lips are attacking mine. It only takes my body a moment to catch on and before I realize what Iâm doing Iâm kissing him back. This seems to be the approval Klaus needed because he used his hand to grab my waist to pull my flush against his chest and his other hand to grip the back of my neck so I couldnât moveâŠnot that I wanted to. I try to fight for dominance but that is quickly stopped when Klaus bites harshly into my bottom lip, making me exhale. This gives Klaus an opening as his tongue enters my mouth and begins fighting for dominance against my own. An involuntary moan escapes my lips at the feeling and Klaus releases a growl at the noise.Â
Klaus releases my mouth as we both catch our breaths.
My eyes widen as I see that Klausâ once blue eyes are now a bright gold, with dark veins under them. Without thinking I reach a hand up and cup his face, and using my thumb I trace the veins.Â
âOh, youâve got to be fucking kidding me,â I whip around to see Theo wrapped in his fluffy robe with his phone to his ear glaring at Klaus and I, âIâll have to call you back Jerebaby. My sisterâs making out with a serial killer.â
Theo ends the call, stomps out of the house, and puts his hands on his hips sending glares to both Klaus and me.Â
âSeriously?! Young lady, in the house now!â
I raise an eyebrow at Theo and he does the exact same.
I turn to say goodbye, or really anything to Klaus but Theo stops me.
âNUH-UH HOUSE NOW!â
I roll my eyes and with a huff, I stomp inside.Â
Theo slams the door shut behind us and I whip around to him.
âSeriously, Theodore!?â
âRoom now,â Theo yells and I glare at him.
âIâm older than you Theo, you canât ground me.â
âWell, as the man of this house, I am.â
âYouâre wearing a blue fluffy robe with bunny rabbits on it,â I deadpan as I look at my brotherâs attire.
âAND?! ROOM NOW! We shall talk about this in the morning!â
I blink once at my brother before shaking my head and trudging over to my room.Â
â
After taking a VERY cold shower I finally get to settle down with my lasagna.Â
âHello, Elskan.â
FUCKING SERIOUSLY
I whip around on my bed to see Elijah, who just magically appeared in the corner of my room. Yay.Â
âYa, hi, Elijah. No offense but I havenât eaten anything at all today and almost getting killed by a one thousand-year-old witch really does something to the stomach. So if you donât mind, Iâm going to eat while you say whatever it is youâre going to say.â
I huff and then stuff a forkful of pasta into my mouth.Â
âOf course, Elskan. Please donât starve yourself. Iâll say my peace and then leave you.â
I hum to him as I pick a huge piece of pasta up with my fork and shove it into my mouth.Â
âI am leaving Mystic Falls.â
I feel my lasagna lodge in my throat as I inhale.
I clutch my throat as I feel myself choking and try to cough up my food.
âY/n!â
Elijah runs to my side and hits my back and I spit out the chunk of pasta onto my plate.Â
With a shaky breath, I look up to Elijah who is staring at me, wide-eyed, âWhat the fuck do you mean youâre leaving?!â
Elijah shakes his head, âAre you alright?â
I glare at him, âElijah answer my question.â
Elijah eyes me for a moment before shaking his head and muttering something under his breath. He walks back over to the corner of my room and places himself on my desk chair.Â
âI am leaving.â
I blink, âYa⊠I got that.â
Elijah sighs, âWhat I did today was unforgivable. I went against my moral code and hurt not just you, but your friend. I betrayed your trust and threatened an innocent girl's life. I can never forgive myself. That is why I must leave. My siblings will stay here to make sure you stay safe, butâŠme being around will only cause more pain.â
âAre you serious?â
Elijah picks up his head to meet my glare.Â
With a huff, I put my pasta, which is now cold, onto my side table, and stand up. With my hands on my hips, I walk over to Elijah and stand before his seated figure. Â
âElijah you are a grown man, act like it.â
Elijahâs eyes narrow at my words, âExcuse me?â
âYou talk a big game about taking accountability but right now, that is the farthest thing from what you are doing. You made a mess, clean it up. Donât run away just because youâre scared of the repercussions.â
Elijah stands up, and I inhale when I realize just how close we are now.
âI am not scared,â Elijahâs low voice sends shivers down my spine as he leans down to meet my eye level.Â
I puff out my chest, âIs that so? Because all I see right now is a man who doesnât go for anything he wants. Who is just letting everyone walk all over him. ElijahâŠyou fucked up. But, running away is not going to change that. Own your mistakes, donât hide from them.âÂ
Elijahâs nostrils flare slightly and he raises an eyebrow, âYou think I donât go for what I want?â
The challenge in his voice makes a warmth flow throughout my body, âYesâŠâ
As soon as the word leaves my mouth, Elijah raises his hand and grips my throat pulling me into him. A startled gasp leaves my throat but it is quickly muted by the pressure of Elijahâs lip on my own. My mind seems to be working a mile a minute as I try to understand everything that is happening right now. Elijah is kissing me. Kissing me. Elijah is kissing me, while his hand is wrapped around my throat.Â
Kinky.
No, Y/n. Shut up.Â
As soon as I start to piece together everything, the pressure of Elijahâs mouth and his hand are gone. I blink as I see Elijah look almost hurt.Â
âYou didnât like thatâŠIâm so sorry Elskan. Iâll go.â
Elijahâs words make me highly confused because I indeed liked what he just did.
âWhy do you think I didnât like it?â
Elijahâs eyebrows furrow, âYou were distracted. I felt it. And youâŠ,â He pauses and I see his cheeks turn a light pink. Heâs nervous, âYou didnât kiss me back.â
Seeing Elijahâs hurt expression, mixed with his tinted cheeks pulls something out of me, and before I can stop myself I grab his tie and drag him over to me. As soon as heâs a few inches away I slam my lips onto his.Â
A shocked grunt escapes his throat and then a moment later heâs grabbing both of my cheeks and pulling my face flush against his. Just like with Klaus, I try to fight for dominance but that is short-lived with the intense pressure Elijah is kissing me with.Â
After a dizzying few minutes, Elijah unlocks our lips and rests his forehead against mine and I canât stop the giggle that leaves me.Â
synopsis: Elena is just a hater. She's jealous that you're dating and fucking both the Salvatore brothers.
"I can't believe you." Elena exclaimed, her eyes growing misty as you were getting ready to head out with Damon on a date. It hadn't even been a week since they broke up and you didn't care. All that mattered was getting through yet another 'poor me' moment without killing her and making it seem like an accident.
Seriously, what did your sister expect? That Damon was going to stay single for the rest of his days until she made a fucking choice between him and Stefan?
Perhaps some of her betrayal stemmed from the fact that Stefan had also rejected her ass and had made it clear he didn't feel anything for her anymore. So now poor Elena had no one while you had fun with both of them.
And you weren't even playing with them, unlike Elena. They both knew you were fucking both of them and were fine with it. You liked both brothers, but having to choose just one was unfair. They both had traits that attracted you, and if you couldn't have both, then you'll settle for nothing. And upon hearing this, Stefan and Damon came to a compromise. Like good little boys.
The arrangement was abnormal to others, but for you it worked. You dated both brothers, they still hated each other (entertaining fights arising from their competitiveness on who you liked more, who was 'rocking' your world, etc.)
Simple really.
"Save the tears for the pillow, sister. Iâm really not in the mood, nor will I ever be, to entertain your pity parties." Pulling on one of Damonâs leather jackets, you smirked at your reflection in the mirror. You were a sight to behold, not only would Damon be eager to rip the clothes off you, but half the population would too.
It was fun stirring the pot, watching Damon bare his teeth at anyone who thought they stood a chance. Jealousy was his kryptonite, and while a part of you hated targeting one of his insecurities, you always reassured him in bed of your devotion, loyalty, and love.
Yes, because at the end of the day, you loved both Stefan and Damon.
This wasn't just some passing fantasy nor was it some revenge scheme against your sister (though you did love tormenting her with the fact that you had both of them.)
"Why are you doing this to me? What have I ever done to cause this!"
Now there was the Elena you knew all too well. The one who constantly placed themselves as the victim. The one who perceived you as the problem because who could ever hate a girl who lost her parents? You let out a humorless laugh, crossing your arms over your chest.
âYou really want to go there?â you snap, not bothering to hide the derision in your voice. âFine. For starters, youâve always made Jeremy and me feel like shit, and the few times you did act like a decent human being were just so you didnât look like a total bitch.â
âThatâs not true!â she protests, anger tightening her features.
âIt is. When our parents died, you didnât do a damn thing to help us cope. You were so wrapped up in your own grief, your own fucking melodrama, that you never once checked on Jeremy or me. Unless, of course, it was to nag us about how we were coping. When Jeremy started doing drugs, you freaked the fuck out. Not because you cared, but because you were afraid of how it might make you look. God forbid anyone sees that the 'perfect' Elena Gilbert canât keep her family together or help her brother kick his drug habit.â
She flinches, but you weren't done. Oh, no. You were just beginning to go down the list of why you hated her ass.
"Then, when I began to hook up with Damon, you acted like I was the cause of our parent's death. Newsflash, you were because Elena couldn't help herself and got drunk, needing a ride home at midnight. Sleeping with Damon was like I'd personally betray you."
Her cheeks flush crimson. âWell, you did! Youââ
âI did what, Elena?â You take a step forward, towering over her. âI moved on? Found something that might actually make me happy? Meanwhile, youâve been stringing both of them for God knows how long. You made your choice. You dumped Damon, tried getting back with Stefan, and when he told you to fuck off, you tried going back to Damon but he said the same thing. So now youâre standing here, arms crossed, lips trembling, trying to put the blame on me because you lost your backup plan.â
âYou are an asshole,â she hisses, eyes narrowed into slits. âDamon was mine first.â
That makes you laugh. âRight, possessive much? People arenât property, Elena. Heâs not a damn handbag you lend out when it suits you. If Damon wants to be with me, thatâs his call, and if I want to keep him, thatâs mine.â
She trembles, either from anger or heartbreak, you canât tell, and frankly, you donât care. âWhy would you do this?â she asks again, her voice cracking. âWhat have I ever doneââ
You rolled your eyes so hard you got a slight headache. "Did you even listen to me? I have every reason to hate you, so does Jeremy and the rest of Mystic Falls. Those who continue to stand by you are either stupid or hope they'll get some attention from your desperate ass. I'm done. Iâm done letting you guilt trip me. Iâm done tiptoeing around your precious feelings. Iâm fucking over it, Elena.â
Just then, Damon appears in the doorway, that trademark smirk on his face. âReady?â His gaze flicks to the tears glistening in Elena's eyes before returning to you. âIâm guessing weâre skipping the family therapy session?â
âTherapy? More like the mandatory guilt trip, which Iâve politely declined.â
Elenaâs voice wavers, âDamon, how can you justââ
He cuts her off with a raised hand, posture casual but his eyes dangerously dark. âStop, Elena. What we had is long over. You made that choice before, remember? Iâm done letting you waltz in and out of my life whenever itâs convenient for you.â
You can practically feel the hatred radiating off her in waves. Sheâs not used to being shut down, especially not by Damon, the semi reformed bad boy who once hung on her every word. It must sting.
Oh, well. Her loss.
âAs much as I loved talking to you, sister, I do believe we're running late. Don't wait up and please, if you're going to continue crying, leave my room. Keep wallowing if you want. Hell, cry yourself a fucking river. Just donât stain my carpet.â
Without another glance at Elena, you brush past Damon, and he steps aside for you to lead. He follows, closing the door behind you both, leaving your sister alone in her silence.
You descend the porch steps and greet the night air with a sigh of relief. Damon slips an arm around your shoulders, guiding you toward his car parked beneath a streetlamp.
âSheâll get over it,â he says, glancing at you with one of those trademark smirks that used to make Elena weak at the knees. Now, it just fuels your own sense of dark satisfaction.
âSheâd better,â you mutter. âIâm not putting up with her drama anymore. If she wants to play the victim, she can do it alone. Iâve got better things to do.â
Damonâs grin widens. âThatâs the spirit. So, where are we headed, anyway? We never actually nailed down the specifics.â
You shrug, placing an arm around his waist and snuggling closer to his side. âAnywhere but here. Got a craving for something stiff. Drink or otherwise.â The innuendo doesnât slip past him. His eyes flash with interest, and you canât deny that thrill you get from watching Damon light up over you instead of your sister.
âSounds like the Grill,â he suggests with a casual tilt of his head. âThey have a halfway decent bourbon I can drown myself in. As for the âotherwise,â wellâŠâ He lets the sentence hang, the possibility of later events sparking arousal for the both of you.
Youâre about to respond when you spot Stefan leaning against Damon's Camaro. Typical.
"What are you doing here?" Damon was the first who spoke, hand tightening over your body. As if he were a child preventing his favorite toy to be taken away from him.
"Nothing. I was just walking around the neighborhood and saw your car parked. But now that I see you're here with my boyfriend, I guess I have time to join you two."
"Our boyfriend."
Stefan cocks a brow, his expression cool but laced with a hint of smugness. âIâm not here to fight. Just wanted to make sure I wasnât excluded. Last time I checked, this was a joint arrangement.â
Damonâs jaw clenches. Clearly, he remembers crashing your date with Stefan last week and how youâd had to smooth over the tension in ways that involved very little clothing.
âWeâre not excluding you, Saint Stefan, but we do have plans that donât involve your pensive brooding.â
Stefan straightens, crossing his arms over his chest. âOh, so your plan is to get drunk at the Grill and then whatever elseâŠâ He waves a hand dismissively, âdoesnât appeal to me?â He tilts his head in mock curiosity. âYou sure about that?â
You snort. âChildren, please. If you both really wanted to rip each otherâs heads off, youâd have done it ages ago. Letâs just go. All this talk is making my head hurt.â
Damon lets out a dramatic sigh, rolling his eyes. âFine, but if Stefan starts preaching about morality or, God forbid, Elena, Iâm leaving him to pay the tab.â
Stefanâs smirk grows. âIâd pick a better conversation starter than Elena, trust me.â
You give an unimpressed half-smile. âDonât even mention her name. As far as Iâm concerned, she doesnât exist unless sheâs blocking my path to a drink.â
That shuts both of them up. They exchange a quick glance, some silent vampire communication or whatever, then Damon jerks his head toward the passenger door.
âShotgunâs yours,â he says to you, ever the gentleman when it comes to seating. To Stefan, he adds begrudgingly, âGuess you can squeeze into the back or better yet the trunk.â
Stefanâs lip twitches like heâs fighting off a retort and you canât help but grin. Itâs absurd that they both share yet still bicker like five-year-olds over the smallest shit, but hey, maybe thatâs part of the charm.
Once inside, you sink into the leather seat, adjusting your legs as you feel Stefanâs presence behind you. Damon revs the engine, and the car peels away from the curb.
Elijah and the family go on vacation but forget Kol at home, who immediately does a Home Alone and booby-traps the entire houseânever realizing that the âintruderâ heâs facing down is Finn, who also got left behind
