"Looking for something?" she asked in a tone that could freeze blood.
Nancy arched an eyebrow, but didn't wait for a response. She brought her half-smoked cigarette back to her bright red lips and spoke around the filter. "You're not supposed here."

"Looking for something?" she asked in a tone that could freeze blood.
Nancy arched an eyebrow, but didn't wait for a response. She brought her half-smoked cigarette back to her bright red lips and spoke around the filter. "You're not supposed here."
“Want some company?”
Regardless whether they did or not, the blonde plopped herself right down next to them. She had a pack of cigarettes and she shook one out. With barely a sideways glance, Nancy offered it. “Go on. Looks like you could use one.” Was she actually being kind? Stranger shit had happened.
The VIP section of Ludlow’s Bar was all hers. Business, pleasure, whatever the hell she wanted. Tonight, unfortunately, it was business. She took a long drag on her cigarette, black lipstick leaving a ring on the filter. God, the waiting was the fucking worst part of this. And when shit didn’t go right.
But that wasn’t going to be the case tonight.
Hearing the door open and the late arrival step in, she crushed out her cigarette in the ashtray and said, somewhat impatiently, “Close the door, would ya?”
“Want some company?”
Without waiting for an answer, the blonde plopped herself right down. She shook out a cigarette from the pack in her, and with barely a sideways glance, Nancy offered it.
“Go on. Looks like you could use one.” Was she actually being kind? Stranger shit had happened.
“I’m... sorry?” Judging from the faint laughter which shrouded the apology, she was anything but remorseful. Amused, maybe. “You must have me mistaken for someone who gives a shit.”
With a toss of her head, Nancy sent some of her long blonde hair flying back. The corners of her mouth turned up lightly. “But, hey... change my mind. I ain’t completely unreasonable.”
Nancy narrowed her eyes, clearly not amused whatsoever. "I'm still waitin' on that apology."
"That's a joke, right?" Nancy asked, her expression dubious.
"Wow," Nancy said in a deadpan voice. "I really don't care." The vampire queen rolled her eyes and picked up her Zippo lighter and began flicking it open, closed, open, closed. "Might care more if I wasn't so fucking hungry."
