I deleted a prior ask regarding my opinion on Antishippers because I've recently changed opinions on them.
Previously I stated I didn't have many issues with them, and that while I disagreed with some aspects of their ideology I did agree with the core aspect of protecting children.
I, really can't stand by my old opinion.
As I look through their posts and what they say, I find that protecting children really isn't their ideology. It's their dogwhistle. They spend their time harping on about Proshippers and ascribing these horrid, disgusting behaviors to them that I can personally confirm aren't the case. They change the definition of proshipper to fit their narrative, and while they turn a blind eye to or downplay their horrid behaviors of their own side, they act as though one proshipper being scummy means that all of them are.
They are very harsh about keeping Proshippers off the internet and out of tags because "what if children see it?" Ignoring the fact that even if someone posts in the fandom tags: blacklists exist. Safe search exists. You can want to keep children safe, but at what point have you gone too far? At what point are you just flatly revoking the rights of adults on a "what if?" At what point are you forcing complete strangers to take on a parents responsibility of monitoring the activity of children on the internet, by censoring them entirely, because "children shouldn't see this."
On top of that, there's a common thread I see as well.
"Don't sexualize my trauma."
This is incredibly self-centered. Writers are not personally targeting you, they are writing about their own traumas. Their own pain. You may share it, but you do not have a monopoly on its portrayal. You do not get to decide how a person copes. Many are advised, by medical professionals, to write in order to cope with trauma. You do not get to override the advice of a Doctor because you think it contradicts your morality.
There are also those who read to cope.
Overall, my opinion has changed. I find Antishippers to be selfish, hypocritical twits. I find them destructive, because in their self-proclaimed moral crusade, they shift the blame and throw other survivors of abuse under the bus. They are helping no one, not even themselves.
