Just outside of Adamsville is a coal mine where Pazu’s father worked until he died in a terrible accident when he was very young. He’d already lost his mother and so he was left alone. His father’s co-workers looked out for him and got him jobs at the mine, safe jobs but how safe can a coal mine really be? Through it all, he stayed positive. He plays trumpet in the school band, runs track and get’s great grades in shop class. He lives alone in a small rundown house that his family lived in together at the edge of town and gets around on a beat up old vespa. He’s unaware of the magic around him but that lack of awareness doesn’t mean he doesn’t care to see it.
His father had a passion for flying machines, a passion he passed down to his son. Once, his dad managed to fly high, very high above the clouds. They were loosing control of the craft and were terrified and cold but he saw and took a picture of a floating city, a castle in the sky. When he landed, he showed the picture to everyone but no one believed and he was labeled a liar, a kook. Pazu is determined to prove that his father was right but he’s so busy just staying afloat on land, how on earth will he be able to float any higher? Perhaps he needs a push and in Adamsville, the push could be just around the corner…
