Tiana was never a princess. She grew up in the poor end of New Orleans with a very loving mother and father. Her mother was a seamstress, and her father was in the military, but he was also an aspiring chef. His love of cooking made her love cooking; she loved the way that his cooking brought people together, connected people, and helped them overcome adversity in their hearts and in their lives. Her father was such a nurturing, strong force in her life and suddenly, just like that, he was gone. He was killed while on duty overseas, and she was left alone with her mother without much help.

Her father may have been gone physically, but he never really left her. She carried him in her heart, along with his dream of opening a restaurant. She wanted her job to bring people together and make people happy. Things were temporarily derailed when she got her acceptance to Ilvermorny, “You’re damn right my little girl’s magic,” said her mother, but Tia was terrified that this might get in the way of her dream. When she went to school though, she found that there was a lot she could learn there to make her restaurant a success.

It didn’t take her long to come to the conclusion that the best path for her was to specialize in magical cuisine, so she threw herself right into it. She worked very hard at school and got an apprenticeship cooking in a Greylock’s landing restaurant. During the summers she went home and worked to help her mother get by. She worked and worked so much that she didn’t notice that she was suddenly an adult. Tiana has never been to a dance, never fallen in love. and never really relaxed and had fun. She doesn’t think she needs too; but, lately, the pressure has been building, and she’s worrying more and more that she won’t achieve her dreams. Will she ever learn to relax and take things slower? Will she ever open up and have fun with friends? Only time will tell…

The Maldonia Family is one known across all the magical community. They host all sorts of events from charity quid matches to art galas. Everyone to marry into the Maldonia family is just as prestigious. However, years of wealth and splendor left the heir of the Maldonia fortune lacking in manners and decorum. To say Naveen is a party boy would be an understatement. He enjoys late nights filled with alcohol and a wide variety of drugs accompanied by countless women. His mother is often bailing her son out of trouble and paying a small fortune to keep her son’s name out of the gossip column.

Out one night in Malibu, Naveen was partying with several friends at a hotel. Several of the magic elite from the area showed up and Naveen had the time of his life. Unfortunately for Naveen, he had a habit of short changing drug dealers and he pissed off the wrong one who happened to slip a roofie in the young man’s drink. That mixed with the other drugs in the party boy’s system caused him to overdose. A young woman happened to be walking by the hotel pool when he went in and dove in to save his life. She was able to revive the irresponsible boy.

When he came to in the hospital, he was faced with his family. His mother wasn’t able to keep his almost death out of the tabloids and his grandfather was not happy. Grandpa Maldonia threatened to cut him off if he didn’t change his nasty habits and take his schooling and life seriously. Is the threat of losing his inheritance enough to get the young man clean? Or does he need something a little more serious, like rehab?

Drake Facilier has a chip the size of Arkansas on his shoulder. His mother comes from a prestigious pureblood family from the French Quarter in Louisiana. However, his father is a no-maj. He was a broke street musician with nothing but talent and a handsome face. Drake’s mother threw away her inheritance and married the handsome man. What is money and stability when you had love?

It didn't take long for Drake’s father to walk out on the family life. He had his art to think about and being a father got in the way of that. Drake’s mother and he were left to fend for themselves because his maternal magical relatives wanted nothing to do with a blood traitor like his mother or a filthy mixed blood child like Drake.

As Drake’s magic developed, he started hustling no-maj tourists. He performed tea leaf and tarot card readings. He put on a good show and he was bringing in the big bucks. It all stopped once his mother enrolled him at Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was hard for her to have her main source of income go away but it was for his benefit.

At school, he was just like everyone else. His magic was no longer mysterious or fantastical. That was when he started to dabble in the dark arts. At first it was small things. Then he made some questionable friends who introduced him to the true dark arts. He became intoxicated and seduced by them. Is it too late for the young wizard to change his ways? Does he even care? Only time will tell.

Potions Professor

This flamboyant professor is 50% sass and 50% charm. They're easily the most loved Professor at Ilvermorny. Their teaching methods are less than conventional as they wear their pet boa for most of the day but the students fight for the front row seats every day.

Manon grew up in the Deep South and was no stranger to discrimination and bigotry. When they were a young boy, a white family moved in next door and they had a son about his age. Kids at school picked on the little boy for living in the “black” neighborhood. Manon didn’t mind the boy was white. All they cared about was whether or not he enjoyed hopscotch. One afternoon, the two young boys were playing outside and a group of teenagers came by and started picking on the boy from next door. Manon stood up against the teens and ended up losing the eyesight in their left eye.

After the incident, Manon made it their goal to help the little guy no matter what the color of their skin or anything else for that matter. As a teacher, they makes it a point to treat the students equally and not hold any bias to their blood status. But sometimes it’s hard to do as such. Will he be able to keep the bias out of his decisions and his classroom?
