i think agora is a pretty good movie. it's really interesting and ngl i love a good period piece, especially when it's about ancient egypt and it involves men wearing skirts 😌😌, though it is quite long (2 hours+)

i'm not usually a big gangster movie guy but this one's a good one imo. also it's set in the 80s and the costumes are chef's kiss
8️⃣ robin hood (2010)
i can't quite put my finger on it but there's something weirdly comforting about this movie to me. maybe it's because it seems very familiar, seeing as i'm british and there's a lot of nice shots of english (and welsh) countryside. but yeah it's your standard ridley scott epic. upside; russell crowe does a very funny british accent throughout. downside; those goddamn fucking contacts oscar wears
7️⃣ the two faces of january (2014)
i think it's a really interesting almost character study of rydal and chester, which i really enjoy, and it culminates in this big satisfying ending. it involves a lot of filming in greece and turkey and the cinematography is very nice imo
6️⃣ operation finale (2018)
some amazing acting on all fronts, particularly with oscar and ben. it holds tension amazingly and i think it's really worth a watch, especially if you like biographical movies. .... i mean, i'm not a big fan of biographical movies but this is still great!
5️⃣ annihilation (2018)
oml the cinematography in this movie is gorgeous and the tension is held so so well. the only thing i will say is i'm not very smart so i didn't understand a lot of it but it's a good movie with some very good actors, some very pretty visuals and a very pretty oscar
4️⃣ the card counter (2021)
if i could, i would eat this movie. it's like everything you learn about in media studies classes; the shots are perfectly composed, there's some wonderful wonderful character development and the monologues are very sin city-esque imo (particularly johnny from sin city 2). and, as always, very fun to see willem dafoe. love that guy
3️⃣ (s)ex machina (2014)
it's a slow burn but i really enjoy it. it's made by the same guy who did annihilation but this one i can understand better (and it's topical!). if you've followed any of my chariot watches, you can probably guess where i stopped watching but, when i first watched all the way through with a friend, the ending made me laugh ngl. it was deserved. get wrecked, scrub. also nathan tearing up the dancefloor is forever on repeat in my head; work it, hubby
2️⃣ pu-239 (2006)
very depressing. horribly depressing. but also kinda fun. until it isn't. it's just a really good and underrated movie imo. if you can find it, i'd really consider giving it a watch. i'm not going into detail here so you can go in blind but, yeah, if you can find it, give it a shot
1️⃣ moon knight (2022)
you probably saw this coming. it's funny, it's tense, it's depressing and i adore it. i was big into egyptology as a kid so this was right up my alley and, as a psych student, steven/marc/jake just stole my heart. as far as i'm concerned, it's not your usual marvel affair (because i think marvel is getting kinda samey atp). i watched it all in one night, then i went and showed it to my dad, then i watched it again with my dad and my mom, then i showed it to one of my friends, then i watched it with a guy i hooked up with instead of having sex lol and i'll be watching it again at halloween, when i go on holiday with my brother. you heard it here first; moon knight 2022, better than sex
