Next Stop - Fullerton! Amtrak's Operation Lifesaver unit, F40PH 231, shoves San Diegan #578 eastbound through Metrolink's Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs station on February 18, 1997. This train, with a former Metroliner cab car up front, has just slowed from 70 miles-per-hour to 60 mph - track speed for passenger trains (except Metrolink's trains, since this is a station stop for them - but they use the two outer tracks so as to not block the mains when making their stops).
Amtrak F40PH 231 speeds "San Diegan" #779 west through Fullerton, CA on February 19, 1997.
